Stylish 2021 Nissan Rogue has been updated with new platform and chassis paving the way for improved performance.

    • Special to the Record-Eagle/Len Ingrassia

When early SUVs hit the road, they took it on the chin for having a truck like presence with ladder frames and a choppy ride. Many wore rounded fenders and stretch back front ends.

Fast forward to the 2021 Nissan Rogue makeover featuring interior and exterior re-designs, and you guessed it, a new boxier design front and back. Go figure.

The new look has a premium appearance though and it is highlighted with active grille shutters, 3-D tire deflectors, underbody covers and rear spoiler.

With improved driving dynamics, Nissan believes they have another hit since the popular compact model debuted in 2008. We agree but wish more oomph was under the hood to prop up mediocre acceleration.

Pros: Handsome looks, high tech interior, roomy cabin

Cons: Upper trims pricey, pokey, noisy engine

Connectivity is made easy with wireless Apple CarPlay however the same cannot be said for wired Android Auto curious in that more than half of cell phones are the latter.

My car out of nowhere slowed down on its own abruptly almost causing a 4 car collision. I quickly turned on to the shoulder and once my car came to a stop the car died. I tried to turn it back on and nothing happened. I had no sensors or warning lights to give me some type of clue as to what happened. About 3 months ago, going over railroad tracks my car abruptly slammed on the brakes on its own and came to a stop on the tracks. I was unable to accelerate. I had to turn the car off n then back on to be able to drive off the tracks.

Maintains A Preset Distance From The Vehicle Ahead Reducing The Driver’s Workload

Intelligent Cruise Control measures the distance from the vehicle ahead and controls acceleration and deceleration to automatically maintain a suitable following distance. This distance is adjusted according to the speed of the vehicle ahead, up to the preset speed, and the ICC speed settings set by the driver. ICC reduces the driver’s workload during long journeys such as expressway driving or in traffic congestion situations.

The system controls vehicle speed in order to maintain a set distance from the vehicle ahead. Manual accelerator pedal operation is reduced in high speed driving or in traffic congestion, making the journey much easier for the driver.

What Is Nissans Intelligent Cruise Control

The Intelligent Cruise Control system by Nissan includes smart cruise control and a special steering-assist feature that most other vehicles do not have. Intelligent Cruise Controls main function is to keep your Nissan a safe following distance from the car ahead of you. The intuitive system will also automatically apply and adjust the brakes as needed to ensure you dont get any closer to the vehicle ahead than your intended distance. Once the driver sets the preferred speed limit for the Nissan, the car does the rest of the work to remain a specified length from the vehicle in front to avoid a collision.

Drivers should note that there may be some minor differences in how the system functions based on the particular Nissan model or trim level. Intelligent Cruise Control regulates the cars speed based on the road conditions ahead on some Nissan vehicles. If you are approaching a sharp turn or curve in the road, the system relays that information to Nissans navigation system. Intelligent Cruise Control then works with the navigation system to temporarily slow your car down through the curve. When the road straightens out again, the vehicle will resume the speed that you previously specified.
