A man jumped off a Carnival Cruise Line ship into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida Saturday morning, officials said
The Coast Guard deployed two patrol boats and an airplane to search for the unidentified 43-year-old, whose jump reportedly had shaken vacationers running and screaming on the ships deck.
The man plunged from the ship just after midnight, about 55 miles east of Port Canaveral, according to the military and Carnival officials.
A passenger on the massive ship reported that people were scrambling on the cruiseliners deck early Saturday morning as officials on the Mardi Gras and nearby cruise ship Elation began their search for the overboard man, according to TMZ.
The Mardi Gras had departed from Grand Turk and was slated to finish its scheduled route to the naval port as the search resumed, officials said.
The Carnival Care Team is supporting the guests family, said Carnival spokesman Matt Lupoli. Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family.
The incident was the third of its kind to befall the cruise company in the past three months.
Last month, the body of a man who had jumped off the Carnival Horizon was recovered in the Caribbean Sea.
In February a woman jumped to her death off the Carnival Valor into the Gulf of Mexico after she was confronted by ship security following an altercation in a hot tub.

Celebrity Solstice Season Canceled
Because of ongoing regional uncertainties and potential travel restrictions, Celebrity Cruises has decided to cancel the 2022-23 Asia deployment for Celebrity Solstice, including all sailings from September 16, 2022, through April 21, 2023.
During the period in question, Celebrity Solstice was to have been sailing to a variety of destinations throughout Asia, including Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, and The Philippines. A total of 18 cruises have been canceled, ranging from 10-16 nights.
This is in line with other cruise lines recent cancelations, including Royal Caribbean International moving Voyager of the Seas from the Asia-Pacific region to North America and Europe, areas that have been faster to resume passenger cruise operations with fewer restrictions.
Guests whose cruises are now canceled have two options. Celebrity Cruises is offering a Lift and Shift alternative to rebook on a similar Asia sailing aboard Celebrity Solstice or Celebrity Millennium for the 2023-2024 season.
Instead of sailing in Asia, Celebrity Solstice will instead be repositioned to the Mexican Riviera. In doing so, the Solstice-class cruise ship will replace the slightly smaller Millennium-class Celebrity Millennium, taking over that ships 7- and 8-night itineraries through December 11, 2022.
With this replacement, Celebrity Millennium will reposition to the Caribbean for the popular winter season in that region, bringing more cruise options to guests eager for a warm weather getaway.

Carnival Magic To The Rescue
Carnival Magic responded to a distress call off the Florida coast early in the morning of Saturday, April 9, relaying messages to rescue a man stranded in a disabled sailboat. The ship acted quickly and the man was safely rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The man was stranded approximately 69 miles off the coast of Port Canaveral as his sailboat was disabled. The nature of the boats malfunction was not immediately noted, but there were no injuries or dangerous situations reported.
Carnival Magic picked up the mans distress call at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday morning, as the cruise ship was en route back to Port Canaveral at the end of its cruise. The crew responded and immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard.
A Jayhawk from the USCG Air Station in Clearwater, Florida was dispatched to rescue the man. The rescue was successfully carried out, and the cruise ship returned to port with no delay to its planned arrival.
The 128,048-gross ton, Dream-class Carnival Magic was finishing a 6-night Eastern Caribbean sailing when the distress call was received. The cruise ship, which is homeported at Port Canaveral, had departed April 3, with ports of call in Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Puerto Plata, and was returning to Port Canaveral at the time.

Carnival Cruise Line Changes Testing Fee
On April 12, Carnival Cruise Line made a minor change to its protocols, impacting only a small number of guests. However, the change is vital for those guests to know and related to testing fees for the younger unvaccinated guests.
The testing fee for unvaccinated children aged 5-11 has been lowered to $60. Previously, the charge for guests aged 5 and above was $150. Any fees will be charged to the guests Sail & Sign account.
For unvaccinated guests aged 12 and older, the fee will continue to be $150 per person. When it comes to those aged 2-4, complimentary testing will now be provided. Previously, for guests aged 2-4, the fee would cost $60.
Those guests who applied for a vaccination exemption or are traveling with a child aged 11 or under were also sent a letter detailing the changes. The letter also includes important requirements for testing and shore excursions on sailings through December 31, 2022.
Carnival Cruise Line is still following guidelines in accordance with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . This means that unvaccinated guests aged two and above will have to take a pre-cruise PCR test, along with an antigen test at the terminal during embarkation.
There will also be the need for an antigen test 24 hours before debarkations on cruises longer than four days.

A man jumped overboard on a Carnival cruise headed for Florida … and so far no sign of him.
A passenger on the boat tells TMZ … she was on deck 7 early Saturday morning when 2 teens came running past her in a panic. She told them to slow down so they wouldn’t hurt themselves, and that’s when they screamed someone had gone overboard.
There was pandemonium on the ship by some … others thought it was a joke, until security jumped to the ready and began a frantic search.
We’re told the Coast Guard was called in and they blasted bright lights onto the dark sea and went on the hunt. The cruise line stayed to help in the search, but nothing turned up.
The ship then headed for its destination — Port Canaveral, Florida and the Coast Guard continued searching.
A Carnival spokesperson tells TMZ the man jumped off the ship. We do know he’s an adult who was on the ship with his family.
Guest services thought they were joking at first — but then sent security to the area where the man had fallen overboard.
Security confirmed he had gone overboard and the coast guard was called in.
A spokesperson for Carnival tells TMZ … “The Carnival Care Team is supporting the guest’s family. Mardi Gras is arriving to Port Canaveral this morning and will be sailing to its next itinerary. Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family.”

They were on their balcony, and they thought it was a dolphin,” said Tarlisa Carroll Hankerson.
After confirming what happened, disembarking passengers say the cruise officials made an announcement. “Lee the cruise director, great cruise director, by the way, he said that we had a confirmed man overboard, they were able to confirm it,” said passenger Howard Howell.
Passengers say after they heard the announcement, the ship circled the area for more than an hour in a desperate search to find the man. “The ship turned around to go back to look for the person,” said passenger Dominique Rice, “so we were delayed this morning.”

Man Goes Missing After Jumping Off Brand
A tragedy has occurred on one of Carnival Cruise Lines newest ships, The Mardi Gras.
As reported by The Orlando Sentinel, the U.S. Coast Guard is currently searching for a passenger who is said to have jumped ship from the Mardi Gras as it was returning to Port Canaveral. It seems that the ship was actively searching for the male who jumped off the boat until the Coast Guard arrived. The ship has since docked back in Port Canaveral.
The publication noted a statement from Carnival:
The Carnival Care Team is supporting the guests family. Mardi Gras has arrived to Port Canaveral and will be sailing its next itinerary. Our thoughts and prayers are with the guest and his family.
It seems that the passenger was sailing with his family on the ship, and it has not been disclosed what exactly happened which caused him to fall overboard. At the moment, the Guest has yet to be found.

As the publication stated, this is not the first bout with an overboard Guest on a Carnival ship.
There have been other overboard situations recently from Carnival cruise ships. The most recent was from the Carnival Horizon in March 2022, when a guest jumped off the vessel while sailing near the Turks and Caicos Islands. Also, in February 2022, a guest went overboard the Carnival Valor cruise ship while heading back to New Orleans.

Man Jumped From Carnival Mardi Gras Early Saturday According To Statement
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man who allegedly jumped from the Carnival Mardi Gras cruise ship early Saturday morning on its approach to Port Canaveral, the cruise line said in a statement.
USCG released the Mardi Gras following initial search and rescue efforts which involved the ships crew, and a Carnival spokesperson said the ship had since arrived to the Port and would sail its next itinerary.
As USCG personnel continue the search, Carnival said its Care Team is supporting the guests family, with the cruise line going on to say in the statement that its thoughts and prayers were with them.
No other details were disclosed.
