BOLT is the first roller coaster at sea and its quite a ride. Its unlike anything youve ever experienced on a cruise ship, so dont miss it. I rode BOLT three times on my cruise and its addictive.
BOLT is a top-deck electric-powered roller coaster located in Ultimate Playground zone. This innovative roller coaster recently won a Best of Whats New engineering award granted by Popular Science magazine.
The rides elevated track spans across the cruise ships upper decks and features 800 feet of thrilling twists, dips, and turns including a zooming hairpin loop around tri-colored funnel. Riders on BOLTs motorcycle-inspired vehicles can go as fast as 40 miles per hour while taking in 360-degree views of the sea 187 feet below.
Frequent BOLT riders with the need for speed recommend going full throttle throughout the entire session and using your vehicles boost on the tracks straight sections as well as right before a dip. Its good to leave a few seconds between each boost for maximum effect.
As of December 2021, BOLT is priced at $15 per person for a two-lap ride. Try to make reservations for a time during the first part of your cruise in case you need to reschedule due to weather.

Balcony Cabins On Carnival Cruise Line Ships
Balcony cabins are what everyone wants these days, and Carnival is building its newest ships with far more of them than in the past. As noted above, about 44% of the cabins on the lines three-year-old unveiled Carnival Panorama are balcony cabins. But that percentage jumped to 56% on the new Mardi Gras. A sister vessel to Mardi Gras coming out in late 2022, Carnival Celebration, also be made up of 56% balcony cabins.
The typical Carnival balcony cabin has a contemporary look with clean lines and relatively minimalist furniture. Theyll typically offer twin beds that can be converted into a king bed, a built-in desk area and a sofa that often pulls out into an additional bed. Some have pull-down bunks to create more sleeping spaces. They typically measure around 185 square feet, not including the balcony area, which often measures 35 square feet.
Note that on some Carnival ships, there are specific categories of balcony cabins that have larger balconies than most and are wonderful for sitting out and watching the waves. Often these are at the back of the ships overlooking the wake.
On Carnival Panorama, for instance, there are Family Harbor and Havana balcony cabins overlooking the wake that have 60-square-foot balconies. Thats 71% more balcony space than the typical balcony cabin on the ship.
Carnival Panorama also has Havana Cabana balcony cabins that have even bigger, 100-square-foot balconies.
Carnival Excel Aft Suite
A Carnival Excel Aft Suite is one of the most spacious rooms on the ship with a wraparound balcony made for entertaining. With an oceanview cabin, you get a window looking out to the sea but not an attached balcony where you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Carnivals newer ships have relatively few such cabins, as generally cabins that face outwards now are built with balconies. But older Carnival ships are loaded with oceanview cabins.
Oceanview cabins on Carnival ships can sometimes be bigger than inside cabins and even bigger than balcony cabins . On Carnival Panorama, some oceanview cabins measure 185 square feet the same as inside cabins. But there also are bigger standard oceanview cabins that measure 220 square feet and deluxe oceanview cabins that measure 230 square feet.

The much-awaited Carnival cruise ship, the lead ship in Carnivals Excel class, is currently the largest cruise ship in Carnivals fleet and, as such, is filled with all the bells and whistles, amenities, and activities that you expect from a mega-ship geared toward family fun in the sun.
If youre planning to book a cruise in the near future or are just interested in what could offer you and your traveling family keep reading. Were breaking down everything you need to know about this mammoth cruise ship.
Suites On Carnival Cruise Line Ships
As noted above, Carnival ships generally dont offer a lot of suites. And, for the most part, the suites that they do have are relatively modest in size and amenities as compared to the suites at some of the lines rivals.
The biggest suites on Carnival Panorama, the ships eight Grand Suites, have just 345 square feet of interior space, plus an 85-square-feet balcony. Contrast that to the biggest suites on Royal Caribbean ships, which can measure more than 1,500 square feet.
Suites on Carnival ships also havent traditionally come with butlers and access to private concierge lounges like the suites on many other vessels.

Still, some of that began to change with the debut of Carnivals new Mardi Gras in 2021. Carnival went big with the suites on the groundbreaking, 5,282-passenger vessel the biggest Carnival ship ever.
Sailing since the summer of 2021, Mardi Gras features two sprawling Presidential Suites that measure 1,120 square feet bigger than any other accommodations in the lines fleet.
Located at the top of the ship on Deck 17, the complexes have separate living and sleeping areas as well as the most expansive balconies in the Carnival fleet all unusual-for-Carnival features. Measuring more than 600 square feet, the balconies, notably, also offer a lounging area with a large sunbed as well as a private outdoor hot tub and shower.

Free Restaurants On Carnival Mardi Gras
PALM RESTAURANT Decks 6 and 7 are home to the main dining room on , known as the Palm Restaurant. The elevated but never-stuffy atmosphere accompanies a multicourse dinner menu that updates daily, but keeps a few items, like chicken breast, on standby.
Expect the specials du jour to reflect your port of call for example, in Cozumel, you might enjoy steak tacos with tosdado de pollo, a pulled chicken appetizer. While youre at sea, this is the location of the Seaday Brunch, a tempting combination of breakfast and lunch delights.
CHIBANG!A first for Carnival and maybe any cruise ship is this venue on Deck 8 that combines the flavors of Mexican and Chinese cuisines in one place. At lunch, its all about the build-your-own bowls, from Chinese noodles to Mexican burrito bowls.
At dinner, mix and match apps, entrees, and desserts from a Chinese menu and a Mexican menu. For an additional fee, diners can enjoy a golden roasted duck for two, a Chinese specialty.
The Carnival site might still list Chibang! as an added-fee option, but for now its free.
GUYS PIG & ANCHOR SMOKEHOUSE / BREWHOUSEHead to Deck 8 for a sit-down feast from Guy Fieri paired with homebrewed beer or a drink from the surprising cocktail menu.
Dinner features shareable starters like the Trash Can Nachos tastier than they sound or the brisket cooked for a quick 18 hours.
The sauces here are what make the experience complete, so dont skip the condiments bar.
Relaxing In Serenity Or Loft 19
The adults-only Serenity Retreat on is a lovely oasis complete with a pool, whirlpool, padded loungers and clamshell chairs, the Serenity Bar, and a Fresh Creations salad station. Its a peaceful spot to chill out with friends.
Located one deck above, Loft 19 is yet another first for a Carnival cruise ship and its a luxurious space for relaxing.
Guests staying in Excel Suites on Carnival Mardi Gras have complementary access to the exclusive Loft 19 area for their entire cruise and first priority for cabana rentals. Loft 19 features plush lounge chairs and a large infinity whirlpool, but the areas 12 five-person cabanas must be rented for an additional fee.
Loft 19 access can be purchased by other guests if a cabana is available.
While the Serenity area is for guests ages 21 and older, kids are welcome in Loft 19 with proper access.

Inside Cabins On Carnival Cruise Line Ships
These are the cabins you stay in when youre on a tight budget. On any Carnival ship, they almost always are the least-expensive option when youre booking a cabin, and you often can save considerable money by booking an inside cabin versus an ocean-view or higher-level cabin.
What youll give up, of course, is that ocean view. Your room will have four walls and no windows offering a glimpse of the outside world.
On many cruise ships, inside cabins are smaller than oceanview and balcony cabins. But on Carnival ships, thats not always the case. On Carnival Panorama, most inside cabins measure 185 square feet. Thats the same size as the interior area of some oceanview and most balcony cabins on the ship .

Inside cabins on Royal Caribbeans Symphony of the Seas, by contrast, measure just 149 square feet quite a bit less than the inside cabins on Carnival Panorama.
Note that, in a quirk of the cabin categorization system at Carnival, there are a few inside cabins on some Carnival ships that do, indeed, have a view to the outside world. These cabins either have an obstructed view or a porthole, such that the view isnt all that great. For that reason, the line classifies them as inside cabins.
