Dolphin Cruise Was Excellentglass Bottom Boat Is A Bit Of A Misnomer
We took our a Dolphin Cruise with our four girls and my parents and EVERYONE had fun! We saw lots of dolphins swimming alongside the boat, almost playing with us, fed birds off the side of the boat, checked the crab trap and did a little net fishing off the back of the boat. Each of our girls got to hold non stinging jelly fish and got a shell from the net! The captain invited the kids into the helm to drive the boat which they all got a great thrill from. The crew were excellent with all of us and we got a great family photo for $10 which was wonderful and worth every penny! Drinks were delicious but I’m not sure on pricing as my father paid. The cruise lasted a full 1.5 hours and was filled with exciting activities. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we couldn’t go out into the Gulf, but the captain said he’d happily sign our tickets to come back again free of charge. We declined but it was a nice gesture. My only issue was that the kids were really excited about the “glass bottom” and really, you don’t see much of anything from down there! They still liked going down and seeing the bubbles from the wake of the boat and at the dock we did see a few fish swim by but nothing spectacular. Apparently we might have seen more in the Gulf. Overall it was an excellent excursion and worth the money spent!

Southern Star Dolphin Cruises Destin Fl
In 1994, Steve Wilson was a towing master, who spent much of his time on the sea away from his wife, Wendy, and their three children. He loved the water, but he loved his family more. So, they prayed for God to give them a new direction that would allow them to pursue their dreams while sharing more time together.
That humble prayer led them from Ocean Springs, Miss., to Destin, Fla., where they would become pioneers of the local dolphin cruise industry. But they couldnt find a vessel, so again they turned to prayer.
One day shortly thereafter, a man from Long Island, N.Y., called out of the blue and said, Ive got your boat. So Steve sailed the original 65 ft. converted wooden fishing boat from New York to Florida and began offering dolphin-sighting cruises off the Destin Harbor.
The Wilsons are very open about their faith, believing all along that God would provide, says Nicole Remele, office manager for the Southern Star and her sister pirate ship, the Buccaneer. We are all incredibly blessed to work for them.
In 2001, Steve designed and commissioned the new Southern Star, an 80 ft. glass bottom boat that now operates as the largest dolphin cruise vessel in the area. It is very family friendly, the only boat in town that is both alcohol- and smoke-free.
The new boat is very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room to be seated or to move about. It features a climate-controlled cabin, as well as real restrooms, a gift shop and snack bar.
