H10 Art Gallery we love the area this hotel is in, just a short walk from Olivia Balmes Hotel. There are plenty of tapas bars within the vicinity and this 4-star hotel is personal and quirky with bright pop art covering the walls. On the rooftop is a small sundeck and a plunge pool.
Hotel Majestic an excellent, pricier hotel situated directly on Passeig de Gracia just a few blocks from Casa Milà. Hotel Majestic is an elegant hotel with a wonderful bar on the ground floor and a roof-top deck and pool area. Worth the extra price tag if you want an unbeatable location. And from the roof-top you will get a wonderful view over to the Basílica de la Sagrada Família.

From The Drassanes Metro Stop To The World Trade Centre Cruise Ship Terminals

It takes approximately 7 minutes to walk from the Drassanes metro stop to the World Trade Center cruise ship terminals on Moll da Barcelona wharf.

As above, you should exit the Drassanes metro stop using the lift or stairs at the Av de les Drassanes exit. Turn right and walk towards the Barcelona Maritime Museum. Cross the pedestrian crossing and walk alongside the museum towards the Christopher Columbus monument.

Cross Passeig de Josep Carner at the pedestrian crossing, then turn right along Passeig de Josep Carner in front of the old Customs Building towards the Plaça de Les Drassanes roundabout.

Once you pass the customs building you will see the Onades monument and further ahead the Torre Sant Jaume Icable car tower and the World Trade Center.

Cross the pedestrian crossing and walk straight ahead past the F1 ferry terminal and along the Moll de Barcelona wharf to the World Trade Center cruise terminals.

All the hotels that line up this avenue are on the side of the street heading to the Barcelona cruise ship terminals. Although most of them are in the high-end price spectrum. The most luxurious is The Serras. Followed by Duquesa de Cardona, Duquesa Suites Barcelona and Soho House. Hotel Medinacelli is a 4 star too, but its older and not as luxurious as the rest.

Ample street runs parallel to Passeig de Colom although technically inside the low Gothic Quarter. And the traffic also conveniently runs towards the cruise piers. There youll find two nice options: Hotel Catalonia Port and Hesperia Barcelona Barri Gotic.

Theres a new opening in the area for adults-only, The Wittmore. I havent worked with guests staying there yet, but Id be wary of it because its in an alley thats small enough for taxis to refuse taking you there or even close enough. And cruisers dont travel with only carry-ons Luggage dragging alert!

As for the area, its perfect to explore the sites and restaurants of the Gothic Quarter and the Born district, and its easy to take cabs or subway to the rest of the city sites.

Most larger hotels are concentrated near Placa de Catalunya, which is the center of town. Its only a 20-minute ride from the cruise terminals and a good reference point for getting your bearings.

Remember that in Spain, the average schedule is shifted back a couple of hours to much later than most Americans are used to. This means many restaurants open for lunch between 1 and 5 p.m., close for a few hours and then wont reopen for dinner until as late as 8 or 9 p.m. Consequently, many small, owner-operated stores still close for siesta, meaning you shouldnt plan on doing any shopping between 2 and 5 p.m. But, dont worry, cafes fill the gap with food options all day, and many shops in areas with more tourists stay open in the afternoon.

Catalan is the first language, though all Catalans also speak Spanish and you wont offend anyone for trying out a few words of what you learned in high school. Most people speak at least some English.
