Disney Cruise Internet Plan Purchase Process

WiFi HACKS on the DISNEY CRUISE Line Ships

You can initiate the purchase process by launching the Disney Cruise Navigator App, selecting the MORE tab, and clicking on the Connect to Internet option. Alternatively, you can visit onboardicafe.com when connected to DCL-GUEST. Please note, the link only works when connected to the ships WiFi network.

Below is a video showing the process of signing up and purchasing a Disney Cruise Line internet plan.

Disney Cruise Advice & Important Things To Know

Embarkation means getting on the ship for the first time during your cruise disembarkation or debarkation means getting off the ship at the end of your cruise.

Port is the left side of the ship as you face forward starboard is the right side as you face forward. Forward is obvious aft is the rear of the ship.

Cruise Lines are required to ensure that every passenger knows the safety procedures and has been physically shown where they need to muster in case of emergency. Because of Covid, Disney changed their muster procedures so theres a mandatory safety video on your cabin TV on embarkation day that you cant skip or turn off until its finished, and you are required to check in at your muster station some time between embarkation and sail away . This is, needless to say, much easier than the old way where everyone had to huddle on the deck at 4:00 and suffer through a long safety announcement and demo. Hopefully this new proceedure will continue to be used, because its great.

Cay is pronounced key by locals so unless you want to sound like a novice, remember this for Castaway Cay .

Fast Slow And Everything In Between

Some ships have improved signal strength so much over the years that guests can now frequently stream Netflix in their cabins. A few years ago, this would not have been possible.

The change came with the introduction of new satellite systems and significant investments in on-ship technology. In 2014, Royal Caribbean formed a partnership with O3b Networks generating a new system touted to be six times faster than that of other cruise ships.

The system is called Voom, and it reaches satellites from Medium Earth Orbit run by O3b. They could shoot beams directly to cruise ships as they passed by. The fastest option is the Surf + Stream at three megabits per second. While it may be slower than at home, you should be able to watch your favorite shows. The only downsides are that videos can be grainy, and you may have buffering issues.

Carnival Cruise Line has an internet that supports streaming services by incorporating a hybrid system combining networks of land-based towers and quicker satellite connections. While most people can watch streaming shows, the experience may not be as smooth.

How To Book A Disney Cruise

How Does Internet Access Work On Disney Cruise Line Ships?

There are a couple of ways to book a Disney Cruise. You can book online at DisneyCruise.Disney.go.com or you can book through a travel agent. I have booked both ways and have used a couple of different travel agents, and definitely prefer a travel agent.

Travel agents are great because they are pretty knowledgable about the different ships and itineraries and can help you find the right cruise for you and your family.

Its also nice to have a travel agent because they can keep and eye on specials and do all of the leg work for you!

My preferred travel agency is Get Away Today. They have always been really helpful and have made the process of booking a cruise easy and seamless. If you would like a quote on a Disney Cruise, head to www.GetAwayToday.com or give them a call at 1-800-GET-AWAY and tell them that Mommy Mouse Clubhouse sent you!

Can I Bring My Own Wi

Ive traveled with my own hotspot on a cruise before. And while its nice to have another access point to the internet if the ships Wi-Fi is acting up, you have to keep a few things in mind. That hotspot is really only useful while you are near land or a port. Out at sea you probably wont have much of a signal at all. When walking around a port of call, however, it can be nice to have that internet connection so you dont have to find a coffee shop or internet cafe to check emails and post to social media. After all, the ships Wi-Fi is only good if youre actually on or near the ship.

How Do I Get Free Internet On A Disney Cruise

Theres no way to get free internet all the time, unless you are concierge guests traveling in a Category R Stateroom.

However, all guests receive 50MB of data free on the first day of the Disney Cruise.

To get the free 50MB of data on the Disney Cruise, you simply sign-on to the Wi-Fi following the handy instructions left in your room. Simple as that.

Once that data is used up, though, you will be asked to select a plan.
