Rci’s Shipboard Dreamworks Experience Program
“DreamWorks Experience” was a family-themed program via a partnership between Royal Caribbean International and Amblin Partners . Universal Pictures is the distributor of the DreamWorks movie productions through its subsidiary company Touchstone Pictures.
RCI’s DreamWorks programming featured 3D movies and DreamWorks characters meets-and-greets. It was introduced in June 2010 and terminated in March 2019. This new entertainment program was geared toward families and offered DreamWorks movie-themed activities on only 9 RCI ships . The list of such activities included:
- DreamWorks characters meetings and greetings . The list of characters included Po , Shrek, Fiona, Puss , Alex, Gloria, King Julien, penguins .
- Character Breakfasts were offered in the Main Dining Room restaurant.
- 3D DreamWorks movie screenings were available in the Royal Theater , including first-run movies which premiered on the ship were on the same day they went at land-based theaters. Among the films were “Shrek”, “Madagascar”, “How to Train Your Dragon”, “Kung Fu Panda”.
- DreamWorks channel was part of the in-cabin TV programming.
- Themed activities and games included 3D animation workshops, storytime, themed dance parties, character story-based adventure games, regular character visits to kids facilities, onboard parades, meet-and-greets with photo ops .
- DreamWorks shows were available in Studio B and AquaTheater .

Royal Caribbean Opens New Cruise Terminal In Galveston Texas

Royal Caribbean International officially opened its brand-new zero energy cruise terminal in Galveston, Texas, this week, prepared to welcome hundreds of thousands of vacationers to set sail from there.
The new terminal, a $125 million project, will generate 100% of the energy it needs through onsite solar panels, Royal Caribbean shared with Travel + Leisure. The company estimates the new terminal, which will be home to the more than 5,400-guest Allure of the Seas ship, will see as many as 630,000 travelers pass through each year.

Our new, 161,334-square-foot terminal opens up a world of vacation possibilities for families in the Southwest, Michael Bayley, the president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, said in a statement shared with T+L. Now our unmatched Oasis Class ships, known as the best family vacations in the industry, can set sail from Galveston. Allure of the Seas is just the beginning, and we thank the Port of Galveston, Ceres and all the teams involved for making this bold vision a reality.
The Allure ship will represent the largest ship currently in Texas, according to the company, and will sail from its new homeport for the first time on Sunday, Nov. 13. The company will offer 7-night Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston complete with visits to destinations like Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Roatan in Honduras.

Icon Of The Seas 2023
The launch of Royal Caribbeans newest ship, Icon of the Seas, towards the end of 2023 will be incredibly exciting because this ship will be in a brand new class Icon Class.
Royal Caribbeans ships are grouped into seven classes, and this eighth class of ship is set to be more innovative than any other ship thats gone before.
Icon of the Seas will feature adrenaline-pumping thrills, next-level entertainment and unrivalled water experiences. But as yet, Royal Caribbean is remaining tight-lipped about exactly what those will be.
One thing that we do know, is that Icon of the Seas will be the first LNG-powered ship for Royal Caribbean, making use of this cleaner alternative to diesel.
Although shell be the newest Royal Caribbean ship in 2023, Icon of the Seas wont be the largest. The new Icon-class ships are set to be around 13% smaller than Oasis-class ships. Icon of the Seas will accommodate 5,650 guests at double occupancy and have a gross tonnage of 200,000 GT.
The construction of Icon of the Seas began on 26th May 2021 at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland and is expected to take around two and a half years.

RCI passengers seeking personalized shore excursion experiences can take advantage of the company’s “Private Journeys” program.
The USD 100 concierge service enables passengers to book port calls tailored to their interests, travel style and budget. Private Journeys allow access to 1 of 9 professional Destination Insiders who help planning every detail of the shore excursion before the cruise starts. Activities can include private yachting, cooking with Michelin-starred chefs, food tasting. The USD 100 fee for Private Journeys is applicable to excursion’s final cost.
Private Journeys are offered as a 3rd excursion choice . The new choice offers direct booking through RCI . Booked passengers have to provide Private Journeys’ staff with their idea/basics of what they want . Then they work with local tour guides to design the excursion. Icon Of The Seas Features
When it’s finished, Icon of the Seas will have 18 passenger decks two more than the current size leader Wonder of the Seas.
It’ll also be longer than Wonder of the Seas, by a tad. It’ll measure 1,198 feet long 10 feet longer than Wonder of the Seas.
But its biggest difference may be in the number of passengers it will hold. Its maximum capacity of 7,600 will be about 7% higher than Wonder of the Seas’ maximum capacity of 7,084 passengers.
The bigger passenger capacity is in part due to the ship’s greater focus on family travelers. Icon of the Seas is being built with a lot more cabins that have plenty of extra bunks to accommodate families with many children. It’ll also have more amenities geared to families, including a new-for-the-line outdoor “neighborhood” called Surfside dedicated to families with young children.

New Details About Icon Of The Seas
Since revealing the look of Icon of the Seas last month, Royal Caribbean has kept other details under wraps. But during Schneider’s presentation, he gave away a handful of previously unknown facts about the 250,800 gross-ton ship.
Among the highlights, the executive shared that — a mainstay across Royal Caribbean’s fleets — will have a new feature in the form of a sushi-to-go window, where passengers can order bento boxes and other menu items. As previously revealed, Izumi will be located in Icon of the Seas’ Central Park neighborhood.
Schneider also shared that Central Park will feature two new, unnamed venues. One will be a restaurant and the other will be an entertainment venue. Central Park standards Park Cafe and Trellis Bar are also confirmed on the new ship, as is Royal Caribbean’s signature steakhouse .
The ship’s Royal Promenade neighborhood will be home to a new bar named 1400. Schneider explained that the name of the bar is an homage to the number assigned to the ship’s hull in Meyer Werft’s shipyard.
Another new aspect of the Royal Promenade is that the restaurants and venues flanking the thoroughfare will now have open facades, as opposed to the enclosed look they currently feature on Oasis-class and Quantum-class ships. Additionally, the layout of the two-story Promenade will be 360 degrees, eliminating the presence of dead ends found in other ships’ Promenade neighborhoods.
Panama Canal Cruises 2023
For winter 2023-2024, Rhapsody OTS has scheduled an RCI-first Caribbean and Latin America program based on 3x homeports – two in Panama and one in Colombia .
The 7-night roundtrips also visit Panama Canal and The Netherlands’ ABC islands in the Leeward Antilles. The Panama Canal itinerary visits Cartagena, and Costa Rica’s Puntarenas and Quepos.

Royal Caribbean Cruises To Cuba From Florida
Royal Caribbean operated Cuba cruises with the Miami-homeported ship Empress of the Seas. The first Cuban cruise was on April 19, 2017 .
The newly-refreshed Empress OTS had scheduled a total of 58 voyages in the period January 2018 through March 2019, with more than half offering overnights in havana. Empress was homeported in Tampa for summer 2018, for 4- and 5-night itineraries to Key West, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Havana . For the winter 2018-2019 season, the ship repositioned to Port Everglades .
On December 1, 2017, RCI added 2 new Cuban ports included in 4- to 8-night long Caribbean itineraries on Empress of the Seas. The new 7-night “Best of Cuba” itinerary from Miami visits Cienfuegos, Havana, and Nassau. The 5-night itinerary visits Key West Florida and Havana . The 8-night itinerary visits Cienfuegos, Santiago de Cuba, Grand Cayman Island, and Labadee Haiti.
Majesty of the Seas offered 4- and 5-night itineraries to Havana leaving roundtrip from Tampa and from Fort Lauderdale . In July 2017, RCI unveiled the company’s 2nd ship to Cuba – Majesty OTS, homeported in Port Canaveral. Starting March 25, 2019, the liner offered a 4-night voyage calling at Havana.
Alaska Airlines offers regular nonstop flights to Havana from Los Angeles . An 80-min ling JetBlue flight from Fort Lauderdale to Havana costs less than USD 100. Previously, air travel from the USA to Cuba was thought charter flights only.

GRT is a term used to calculate the volume inside a ship. It is a measure of cubic capacity and is calculated by the total volume from inside the hull and decks of the ship. 1 GRT = 100 cubic feet of space. In essence, the bigger the GRT the more space the ship has for passengers, cargo, etc.
How are Passengers calculated?
Youll see multiple numbers for passengers on ships this is because many ships include extra beds in cabins but the majority of cabins usually have 2 people in them. the Max number is if every cabin used their additional pull-out bed, etc. This number is unlikely to be reached very frequently.
Rci Cruise Cancellation Policy
Starting April 18, 2018, Royal Caribbean passengers who want to cancel an upcoming cruise without penalty have to do so farther out from the departure date than before. The new RCI cruise cancellation policy simplifies the penalty fee schedule by reducing the number of itinerary categories from 5 to 2: those of 1 to 4 nights and those 5 nights or longer.
The previous time when RCI updated its cancellation policy was on March 7, 2016.

Hideaway Beach At Perfect Day At Cococay
Hideaway Beach, an adults-only area of Perfect Day at CocoCay, is currently being constructed and set to open in mid to late 2023. The islands capacity is predicted to increase by 2,000 – 3,000 guests following the completion of Hideaway Beach.
The beach is located to the west of the islands pier, adjacent to CocoCays Thrill Waterpark. The western side of the island is still undeveloped aside from storage and housing for some crew members, so this is the first project to expand Perfect Day at CocoCay on that side of the island.
Most details about Hideaway Beach are still unknown, including whether or not the beach will be complimentary and what facilities will be located at Hideaway Beach.

Lifeguards On Rci Ships
Since 2017, all RCI ships have onboard licensed lifeguards by the line’s “water safety program”, implemented fleetwide. By the new program, water safety signs are placed throughout the ship.
Ship’s lifeguards are dressed in special uniforms and stationed at every swimming pool, including the Solarium during the complex’s opening hours. All Royal Caribbean lifeguards are trained through the RCI’s partnership with StarGuard Elite .
- The water safety program includes a 15-min presentation . The instruction is for by both kids and parents and held during Adventure Ocean’s open-house session.
- Swim vests for all kids are readily available. Additional signage is added around swimming pool areas and in all cabins to encourage parents to use them.
- Kids under 12 require a parent or guardian to be present when swimming in any of the cruise ship’s pools.
