With two Carnival Cruise Line cruise ships winning the most anticipated cruise ship category in the last two years, it was time for Royal Caribbean to step up to the plate and deliver. And deliver the Miami-based cruise line did with Icon of the Seas.
The largest cruise ship ever constructed, Icon of the Seas, will set sail in early 2024. Built as the ultimate family vacation, the cruise ship is packed with innovation and thrills, including the largest pool at sea and the biggest waterpark ever constructed on a cruise ship.

Each new Royal Caribbean – Get Free Report ship pushes the boundaries set by the previous one. The brand new Wonder of the Seas takes the company’s Oasis-class ships to places they have never been.
In addition to being the largest ship in the world, Wonder of the Seas builds upon the neighborhoods concept used on Oasis-class ships. Beside the Boardwalk and Central Park outdoor areas found on its sister ships, Wonder adds a suite neighborhood, which gives Royal Caribbean a new perk to offer its higher-end passengers.
The new ship also has a much-improved adults-only Solarium, a bar on the pool deck that cantilevers over the ocean, and the new Mason Jar southern restaurant and bar concept.
It also offers subtle improvements in room design, with prevalent USB ports and space more efficiently used to maximize storage.
No one thing makes Wonder of the Seas revolutionary, but these details taken together make the ship a significant advance over the previous Oasis-class ships.
Now, in addition to the next Oasis-class ship, Utopia of the Seas, Royal Caribbean has begun work on Icon of the Seas, the first ship in the new Icon class.

New Internet Packages Cost
RCIs ship internet offering was revamped from only one plan into different per day packages with pricing based on the number of included devices. Two new packages are currently available for booking:
- Note: All below listed unlimited Internet package prices are Cruise Planner booking rates and include the 30% pre-cruise booking discount. Packages can be purchased onboard and also pre-purchased via RCIs Cruise Planner booking system.
- Voom Surf Voyage is the light package providing high-speed Internet for general web browsing, e-mails and social media platforms . The Voom Surf Voyage Internet package cost depends on the number of mobile devices using it. Voom Surf pricing is as follows: $13 , $12 , $10 and $20 .
- Voom Surf + Stream is the real deal, offering unlimited Internet activities, including high-speed video streaming . The Voom Surf + Stream Internet package cost also depends on the number of mobile devices included. Voom Surf + Stream pricing is as follows: $18 , $16 , $14 and $28 .
Occasionally, Royal Caribbean offers VOOM package discounts for passengers with pre-purchased online internet packages. Discounts are also offered for Royal Caribbean loyalty program members when the VOOM package is purchased onboard.
Rci’s Shipboard Dreamworks Experience Program
“DreamWorks Experience” was a family-themed program via a partnership between Royal Caribbean International and Amblin Partners . Universal Pictures is the distributor of DreamWorks movie productions through its subsidiary company Touchstone Pictures.
RCI’s DreamWorks programming featured 3D movies and DreamWorks characters meets-and-greets. It was introduced in June 2010 and terminated in March 2019. This new entertainment program was geared toward families and offered DreamWorks movie-themed activities on only 9 RCI ships . The list of such activities included:
- DreamWorks characters meetings and greetings . The list of characters included Po , Shrek, Fiona, Puss , Alex, Gloria, King Julien, penguins .
- Character Breakfasts were offered in the Main Dining Room restaurant.
- 3D DreamWorks movie screenings were available in the Royal Theater , including first-run movies which premiered on the ship were on the same day they went at land-based theaters. Among the films were “Shrek”, “Madagascar”, “How to Train Your Dragon”, “Kung Fu Panda”.
- DreamWorks channel was part of the in-cabin TV programming.
- Themed activities and games included 3D animation workshops, storytime, themed dance parties, character story-based adventure games, regular character visits to kids facilities, onboard parades, meet-and-greets with photo ops .
- DreamWorks shows were available in Studio B and AquaTheater .

Panama Canal Cruises 2023
For winter 2023-2024, Rhapsody OTS has scheduled an RCI-first Caribbean and Latin America program based on 3x homeports two in Panama and one in Colombia .
The 7-night roundtrips also visit Panama Canal and The Netherlands ABC islands in the Leeward Antilles. The Panama Canal itinerary visits Cartagena, and Costa Ricas Puntarenas and Quepos.

Icon Of The Seas: What We Know So Far
Royal Caribbean has confirmed that Icon of the Seas will be the first of a new class of ship, with sister ships following in 2025 and 2026. The original ship in the class is currently being built by Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku and it’s expected to be delivered by 2023.
In a news release issued after a ceremony celebrating its keel-laying ceremony, the company said this:
Icon will set sail next year with the latest innovations and signature features Royal Caribbeans teams have imagined and reimagined in bold, new ways, including a shift toward cleaner energy. The first of three Royal Caribbean ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas the cleanest fossil fuel available to cruise ships today. Combining LNG with a lineup of the cruise lines proven applications, such as shore power connection and waste heat recovery systems that repurpose excess energy to help power the ships operations, Icon will be the next important step in Royal Caribbeans journey toward a clean-energy future.
Royal Caribbean has made LNG the focus of what it has shared about the new ship.
Bayley hinted a bit at what’s to come with Icon of the Seas in his remarks at the keel-laying ceremony.
Which Is The Next Royal Caribbean Ship To Launch
Royal Caribbeans next ship will be Icon of the Seas which will launch in late 2023. This will be the first in a new class of cruise ship for Royal Caribbean. The ship wont be as large as the Oasis-class ships, but we can expect some exciting new features on board this state-of-the-art LNG-powered vessel.
In 2024, Royal Caribbean will launch a sixth Oasis-class ship by the name of Utopia of the Seas. Its expected that this will become the new biggest cruise ship in the world when she sets sail in May 2024.

Perfect Day at CocoCay has again been voted top in the Best Cruise Line Private Island award category, getting 34% of the vote. Carnival Corps Half Moon Cay was a very close second, coming in with 33% of votes , and MSC Cruises Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve was third, with 7% of votes.
Other private islands in the competition were Disney Cruise Lines Castaway Cay, Norwegian Cruise Lines Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye, Royal Caribbeans Labadee, in Haiti, and Princess Cruises Princess Cays.
Voting for the 2022 awards opened up in September, with readers being able to make cast a single vote in each of the eight categories.
