What Do I Wear On A Royal Caribbean Cruise

There are three types of outfits you should bring on your Royal Caribbean cruise:

  • Casual these are the types of things you would wear on a normal holiday, such as dresses, shorts, swimwear and comfortable clothing.

  • Smart Casual this is what you should wear to dinner most nights. These include shirts and dresses, blazers and smart jackets.

  • Formal this is when youll want to iron your best suit and gown. Tuxedos and cocktail dresses are welcome, as are fancy shoes of any kind.

New Royal Caribbean Ship Has A Special Feature Passengers Will Love

Enchantment of the Seas
  • Publish date: Sep 24, 2022 8:00 AM EDT

Royal Caribbean International has drawn out the introduction of its newest massive cruise ship, Icon of the Seas. The ship will be the first of its class meaning that the cruise line isnt beholden to including any feature found on any of its previous ships.

When the cruise line builds Utopia of the Seas, for example, which will be in an Oasis-class ship, that comes with some expectations. The cruise line can tweak the formula as it did on Wonder of the Seas by adding the new Mason Jar restaurant/bar but it cant say omit Central Park or the Boardwalk.

A new class, however, lets the cruise line reimagine every factor of the ship without being tied to any past ideas. That means that Icon of the Seas can bring both new ideas to the table and use some of the cruise lines greatest hits. Its an opportunity to both give the people what they want and give them features they did not know they wanted.

Royal Caribbean has shared very few details about Icon of the Seas but has now released two videos about its progress. The cruise line will also host a media event in Miami in late October where it will offer virtual tours and share a lot more details about the new ship when it sets sail.

The latest video in the Making an Icon series also suggested that Royal Caribbean will be borrowing a popular idea from its sister cruise line, Celebrity.

Consider A Specialty Dining Package

Related:How to Save Money on Specialty Dining on Cruises

The best way to save at extra-fee specialty restaurants, such as 150 Central Park, Izumi and the Chops Grille steakhouse, is to not indulge at all and stick to all the free dining options . But, if youre a foodie wanting to experience everything culinary on the ship, consider prebooking a dining package.

There are different plans: Chops plus one other restaurant, three restaurants, five restaurants and unlimited dining at any of the specialty restaurants. The latter represents a savings of about 40 percent if you prebook the plan and do specialty dining every night of your cruise. You can also purchase a plan once onboard, but there could be limited availability at that point. Prices vary by ship and length of the cruise.

Do I Have To Dress Up On A Royal Caribbean Cruise

Royal Caribbean’s dress code is casual during the day at night there’s either casual, smart-casual or formal dress code depending on the schedule. Casual attire includes jeans and collared shirts for men and sundresses or pants with blouses for women smart-casual means collared shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses, or pantsuits and on formal nights, suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns are expected. If you want to avoid dressing up altogether on any night, the extensive Windjammer Cafe is always casual dress.

Caps, tank tops and bathing suits are never allowed in the main dining room or specialty restaurants shorts are not permitted during dinner and footwear is always required.

How To Find My Reservation Number

Before you can link a reservation with yours, you will need some basic information about each persons reservation:

  • Reservation number

The most common issue for anyone that wants to link reservations is finding their reservation number.

There are a few ways to find your reservation number, so its just a matter of whatever is easier for you.

You can find that by logging into your Royal Caribbean account. I find that it is easiest to do this on an actual computer, rather than the mobile app.

After logging in, the reservation number should be listed with every cruise you have booked.

Other ways to get the reservation number include:

  • Look at your invoice you received when you booked the cruise

Look At Booze Options

Royal Caribbean Cruise – Navigator of the Seas

If you are planning to indulge big time on the ship, Royals deluxe, bottomless beverage package, which costs $63 to $70 per person, per day , can be a cost savings. Though you can purchase a package onboard, youll likely receive discounted offers pre-cruise that will save you more.

The package covers cocktails, wine by the glass and such premium brands as Belvedere Vodka, Makers Mark and Patron Silver. The plan also covers freshly squeezed juice, canned soda, cappuccinos and other premium coffee drinks , and bottled water, and includes discounts on bottles of wine.

If youre only going to have a couple of cocktails over the course of your cruise, paying a la carte is the cheaper way to go. Look for drink specials .

Easter falls on April 17, 2022, which is usually the culmination of spring break demand. The last week and half of April could see less demand for cruises, since school will be back in session.

If you want to avoid crowds, look for a cruise in the last week of April.

For new and existing bookings created by August 1, 2020, guests have the flexibility to cancel their cruise up to 48 hours prior to sailing and receive a full credit of the cruise fare for a future cruise through April 2022. The cruise company has also enhanced Cruise with Confidence with new rebooking options. The updates now available to travelers and their travel advisors include:

  • Best Price Guarantee: Guests can choose to change the price and promotional offer on their reservation up to 48 hours before their cruise.
  • Lift and Shift: For ease and as close as 48 hours prior to sailing, travelers have the option to simply lift and shift their cruise to the same itinerary departing on a future date. The original price and promotional offer on the reservation will be protected, along with the length of the cruise and stateroom category.

Guests are reacting positively to our Cruise with Confidence policy, says RCL chairman and CEO Richard Fain, because it enables them to make informed decisions and to better manage complicated travel plans during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.

Different Protocols For Some Sailings

Be sure to refer to Royal Caribbean’s requirements for your sailing, especially if you are on a transatlantic cruise, or sailing from somewhere outside of the continental United States, such as Puerto Rico or Barbados.

As an example, the transatlantic crossings require all passengers to be fully vaccinated, and only one day before the cruise to get a negative Covid test result.

It’s important to double check the protocols on Royal Caribbean’s website well before your embarkation day to ensure you are doing everything you need to be, in the right timeframe.
