There are different possibilities for enjoying the fine food on board. The main restaurant spans three decks and is decorated classical and stylish. The intimate “Portofino” restaurant offers delicious specialties of the Italian cuisine. Reservations can be made on board for an additional charge. The “Johnny Rockets” is a Diner in 50s style. Tasty burgers and hearty American fast food are cooked fresh to order here.

Food is a big part of any cruise, and there will plenty on the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas. You have 14 different dining options to choose from. Of those options, 5 are complementary, or included with your cruise fare. The other 9 options have an additional fee. Some of those options are a set price and some have a la cart menu pricing. Only 36% of the dining options are included meaning you might spend more while on the ship due to the additional fees.

Food On Freedom Of The Seas: Good Basic Options
The food on Freedom of the Seas is decent, with options for even the pickiest eater. Beyond the main dining room and buffet, you can pick up sandwiches and small bites at Cafe Promenade, slices at Sorrento’s and our personal favorite, Mexican food at El Loco Fresh on the pool deck.
The quality goes up once you venture into the specialty restaurants, and it’s worth splurging on at least one for-fee meal once during your cruise. Options include Chops steakhouse, Giovanni’s Kitchen for Italian food, Izumi for sushi and hibachi and good old Johnny Rockets for burgers.
In general, service is personal, because there are so many spaces in which you can become a “regular.” Baristas at Cafe Promenade, serving Starbucks coffee drinks, remember complicated beverage orders the bartenders at Boleros, Royal Caribbean’s Latin-themed bar, remember names and poisons and even the wait staff in Windjammer, the casual buffet, treat kids as the highest-order VIPs.

Ship Freedom Of The Seas
After her enhancement of the M/S Freedom of the Seas, there are even more great facilities on board. When she was inaugurated in the summer of 2006, the Freedom of the Seas with her 158,000 tonnes replaced the “Queen Mary II” as the largest ocean liner. In 2015 she went through her latest refurbishment. This mega ship offers all the imaginable ways of entertainment at sea, and comes up with some spectacular innovations.

We took a few days to vacation in July to celebrate or 10 yr anniversary and birthdays, and go on a cruise to the Bahamas. Royal Caribbean offered a really good package for the Bahamas. The trip was 4/3 nights on the 4th of July. We went into Coco Cay, Royal private island and Nassau. Great experience, food and plenty of activities to do. On the cruise great service, food and night entertainment shows. We booked everything ahead and saved a couple of hundreds. Definitely a worthy experience, Royal never disappoints.
Not a good deal because they charge for everything extra on the ship. You only have buffet and main dining options to eat. All the other restaurants they charge. If you get the deluxe drink package they charge 400 per person plus gratuity. They charge 15 dollars gratuity per person per day either way automatically. The ship doesnt have enough seating poolside. You have to wake up very early to save chairs with towels if not you are stuck the whole day without a place to sit. Good luck on a sea day with that.

Freedom Of The Seas Staterooms

While the ship can hold 4,500 passengers, Freedom of the Seas doesn’t feel crowded. That’s not to say that the ship feels empty or small. Sometimes there’s congestion in Windjammer at peak times, you’ll wait in a line to disembark at tender ports, and dinnertime can be a bit noisy with hundreds of others chowing down around you. At the same time, it’s never hard to find quiet, private nooks. The library, Internet cafe, Cafe Promenade, Vintages wine bar and even the Solarium pool are great for getting-away-from-it-all moments, particularly on port days.

Freedom Ots Refurbishment 2015 Review
The list of deckplan changes after drydock 2015 refurbishment includes:
- All cruise accommodations were renovated.
- Cupcake Cupboard was added on Promenade deck 5.
- “DreamWorks Experience” was implemented.
- The RCI’s Nursery was added on deck 12.
- 3D Cinema was added on deck 2.
- On decks 3 and 4, “The Crypt” was replaced by new inside cabins and by the Sabor .
- On Lido Deck 11 a huge movie screen was installed.
- Vintages was upgraded.
- BRITTO was added on Promenade deck 5.
- R-Bar was added on Promenade deck 5.
- Two new restaurants were added – “Giovanniâs Italian Kitchen” and “Sabor Modern Mexican” .
A cluster of 44x new Spa cabins was added on Deck 12 forward, in categories Q-Interior, Spa Oceanview and E3-Spa Balcony.

Ship’s 2020 drydock refurbishment was a USD 116 million project that resulted in the following changes:
- Conference Center replaced with 25 Inside cabins
- Arcadia Theatre renamed to “Royal Theater”
- Leonardo Dining Room renamed to “Main Dining Room”
- On Air Club replaced with 12 Inside cabins
- SABOR replaced by “Izumi Hibachi and Sushi”
- Focus redesigned into “Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade”
- Isaak Dining Room renamed to “Main Dining Room”
- Loyalty Desk replaced with 4 Inside cabins. The aft VS-Suite replaced with 4 Balcony cabins
- On Sports Deck 13, RCI’s waterslides “Cyclone” and “Typhoon” were installed next to the FlowRider .
- On Spa Deck 12 , the “Splashaway Bay” kids aqua park was added. This is an interactive water play area , replacing the old Outdoor Youth Area .
- On Pool Deck 11, swimming pools’ sunbathing areas received more shaded seating, including daybeds, hammocks, swing seats, casitas . The fore-located Solarium was renewed.
- All staterooms were renovated. Many existing venues were redesigned and renovated.
Following the refit, the liner now features as new facilities:
- In addition to “Perfect Storm”, a new water coaster and a new headfirst mat racing slide were installed. Both names were trademarked by RCI in September 2018. The Blaster aqua coaster has length 244 m – ranking it the longest at sea 2-person raft slide. The Riptide mat racing waterslide features a transparent tube.
- “To Dry For” is a new blow-dry bar and also serving champagnes and wines by the glass.

Pools And Hot Tubs On Freedom Of The Seas
Nothing beats relaxing by a pool with a nice drink in hand as you feel the fresh sea breeze pass by you. The problem is that with thousands of people on a ship, there’s not always room. If you want to spend all day in a pool, a cruise might not be the right choice. You would have a much better bet choosing a resort with a huge pool complex. That being said, a quick dip in the pool can be nice on a hot day.
