Of the Big Three cruise companies, the smallest is Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings LTD. Even so, it still owns several lines under its umbrella.
First is the namesake Norwegian Cruise Line, which has soared in popularity as it has continually launched new and bigger ships like the Norwegian Encore.
Also within the parent company are two luxury lines known for their smaller ship experience: Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Oceania Cruises.
Yes, just how Toyota has its namesake Toyota brand and then the luxury Lexus brand, Norwegian offers both mass-market and luxury offerings in its lines.
Holland America Line Is A Cruise Line That Travels Around The
Holland America Line was one of Carnivals earliest purchases, as well as one of the companys oldest cruise lines. Holland America Line was founded in 1873, in the late nineteenth century.
The Dutch business ran not just passenger ships but also shipping lines between Europe and the Americas, transporting people and commodities. However, in 1895, Holland America Line began offering holiday cruises, with one of its first voyages taking passengers from New York to Palestine.
Of course, Holland America Line, like many other lines throughout the two World Wars, volunteered to carry military troops in the 1930s and 1940s. However, when transatlantic air travel grew more popular, Holland America Line discontinued its transportation services in favor of cargo shipping, which it did until the 1970s when it was sold. All that was left was leisure travel, thus Carnival Corporation stepped up and bought the line in 1989.
Carnival now utilizes Holland America Line to provide top-of-the-line cruise experiences in Europe and across the Atlantic. The line consists of 11 cruise ships, the most current of which is the MS Rotterdam.

You might even be surprised to discover that budget-friendly lines and super-pricey luxury lines share the same parent companies.
When it comes to ownership, most cruise lines — with the notable exceptions of MSC Cruises, which is privately owned by the family of Italian billionaire Gianluigi Aponte Viking Cruises, which is privately held and overseen by founder Torstein Hagen and Windstar Cruises, owned by Xanterra Parks and Resorts, a division of the Anschutz Company — are publicly traded, which means they are owned by their parent companies’ shareholders. Below, we break down which cruise line parent companies own which cruise line brands, as well as where those parent companies are domiciled. Tourism Cultural Heritage And Unesco
Cultural and natural heritage are in many cases the absolute basis for worldwide tourism. Cultural tourism is one of the megatrends that is reflected in massive numbers of overnight stays and sales. As is increasingly observing, the cultural heritage is needed for tourism, but also endangered by it. The “ICOMOS – International Cultural Tourism Charter” from 1999 is already dealing with all of these problems. As a result of the tourist hazard, for example, the cave was rebuilt for tourists. is an important buzzword in this area. Furthermore, the focus of UNESCO in war zones is to ensure the protection of cultural heritage in order to maintain this future important economic basis for the local population. And there is intensive cooperation between UNESCO, the , the and . There are extensive international and national considerations, studies and programs to protect cultural assets from the effects of tourism and those from war. In particular, it is also about training civilian and military personnel. But the involvement of the locals is particularly important. I Was On Celebrity Cruises’ First Passenger Sailing Back Since Covid
An inside look at life on the Celebrity Edge at sea.
As the Beastie Boys would have it, you have to fightfor your rightto party, and the June Celebrity Edge re-launch out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida the first cruise ship carrying ticketed passengers from a United States port since March of 2020 was just that, a celebration of its victorious battle to reboot the cruising industry.
From the start, the Celebrity Edge cruise had the aura of a grand event: the ship, which can carry slightly over 3,000 guests, sailed with 1,200 passengers. After presenting their COVID-19 vaccination cards, passengers were welcomed with cheers from the crew and escorted to their staterooms, equipped with face masks bearing the Celebrity Cruises logo. The masks were recommended for shore days in Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Nassau.
In the pre-pandemic era, passengers mustered out to crowded assembly stations in life vests, learning about emergency protocols and meeting their fellow passengers. On Celebrity Cruises, the process can be conducted with the help of an app and is virtually free of human contact.
Naturally, the pre-embarkation festivities for the Western Caribbean cruise entailed the inevitable photo-op at Port Everglades, with the Celebrity Edge principals including Captain Kate McCue, the first and only American woman working as a cruise ship captain.
As Fain noted at a press conference during the cruise, “The pandemic once seemed endless. Now, the whole thing seems like a blip.”
Which Company Owns Your Favorite Cruise Line
Head to the grocery store and you might be surprised that a number of your favorite brands are actually owned by much larger companies.
For instance, Ben & Jerrys ice cream is actually owned by Unilever. Tide laundry detergent is owned by Procter & Gamble. Kool-Aid is owned by Kraft.
Its the same thing for automobiles. Acura is part of Honda. Lexus is part of Toyota. And Audi is part of Volkswagen.
Believe it or not, its a similar model in the cruise business. Three major companies: Carnival Corporation, Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD., and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings LTD., own the majority of lines out there.
Below, weve put together an infographic that shows exactly which cruise lines are owned by which companies. Check it out:

Costa Cruises Rebrands With New Experiences and a New Logo
Costa Cruises was founded in Italy and was concentrated only on cargo transportation, mainly olives and linens. Costa did not begin passenger travel between Europe and South America until the mid-1900s.
Riccardo Arata of Shutterstock.com contributed to this image.
Costa entered the cruise industry a decade after passenger services started, offering leisure excursions across the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Costa was the largest cruise line in Europe at the time Carnival acquired 50% of the company in 1997. Carnival would eventually buy the line outright in 2000.
The Costa Cruises line still caters mainly to the European market today. Costas fleet consists of a dozen ships, with one more in the works, the Costa Toscana.

How Many People Are On Board
The ship is sailing at just 36% capacity, a level Fain considers a sign of untapped demand given the short notice to book.
Celebrity Cruises, a subsidiary Royal Caribbean Group, had received approval by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to sail one of its ships with paying passengers on board late last month.
While the lower occupancy means the cruise is less profitable, Fain told CNBC that he wanted to slowly rebuild operations.
We havent been operating for 15 months, our crew havent been operating on ships for 15 months, he said. We want to … give people the chance to practice and get back to the experience.

Which Cruise Line Has Better Kids Programs Royal Caribbean Or Celebrity Cruise Line
When it comes to childrens activities, Royal Caribbean gets the nod. Both cruise lines offer childrens programming, but theres a lot more space dedicated to kids programs on Royal Caribbean.
Of course, there are also more kids on Royal Caribbean, so for those kids who thrive in smaller groups, Celebrity might be better.
Both lines offer dedicated space with check in and check out required though Celebrity is more relaxed about it with kids aged 10-12. Both lines have staff trained to work with kids and a schedule of daily activities, including STEM activities for older kids.
Celebrity Cruise Lines does not offer all-day programs, but set programs throughout the day with family programs that engage parents and children throughout the cruise such as a campfire on the lawn.
I, personally, prefer Royal Caribbeans childrens area for its spaciousness, childrens pool areas and general family friendliness.
My daughter, interestingly, said she would have liked Celebrity better because it has programs for parents to do with the kids.
