When Is A Good Time To Cruise To Australia

Australia is a year-round cruise destination, though high season is between October and April, the region’s spring and summer. You’ll find the largest choice of cruise ships, sailing dates and itineraries during these months.

Keep in mind the Australian cyclone season begins November 1 and ends April 30, so if you sail during those months be prepared for itineraries to change if a storm arises.

If you’re cruising during the Australian summer expect it to get hot, up to the mid- to high-90s Fahrenheit.

Australia Will Finally End Its Cruise Ship Ban In April

Australia will end its ban on cruise ships on April 17, 2022, after being closed to the industry for over two years.

After more than two years of being closed to cruise ships, Australia will finally reopen in April 2022. Cruise Lines have already reacted and announced their plans to resume operations from the country.

Why Cruise To Australia

A top bucket-list destination for many travelers, Australia offers some of the world’s most enticing attractions — from the largest coral reef in the world to snuggly looking koalas, and from vast deserts to some of the best surf beaches on the planet.

Most of Australia’s major cities are along its coastline, making a cruise the best way to visit the country, especially if you can hop on a circumnavigation cruise that circles the entire continent.

And, considering the time it takes to drive or train between Australia’s cities or the cost of flying from city to city, a cruise is also the most economical way to see the country.

When To Cruise Australia And The South Pacific

P& O Cruises reveals Pacific Explorer will call Brisbane home

The temperate climate of both Australia and the South Pacific make them both year-round cruise destinations. October through April, known as Wave Season, are the most popular months to cruise and therefore youll find the most departures offered during that time period. March and May are shoulder season months, which can sometimes yield excellent prices on cruise fares. The winter months of June, July, and August can be a bit cold in southern Australia but you can still tour ports in comfort. The summer months of December through February bring hot weather, sometimes as warm as 35 to 40 degrees. Plus, with Sydney and Brisbane often being the starting point for many cruise ships, Australia is often the best place to start your South Pacific voyage.
