Choose This Line If

  • You crave peace and quiet. Announcements are kept to a bare minimum, and the ambience is sedate.
  • You prefer to plan ahead. You can make spa, restaurant, shore excursion, and class reservations when you book your cruise.
  • You love sushi and other Asian delightsCrystal ships serve some of the best at sea.

Don’t Choose This Line If

  • You don’t want to follow the dress code. Everyone does, and you’ll stand outand not in a good wayif you rebel.
  • You want a smoke-free environment. Smoking is allowed in designated areas of public rooms and decks.
  • You want a less structured cruise. Even with open seating dining, Crystal is a bit more regimented than other luxury lines.

Dress Code And Suite Amenities

Dress code on the Crystal Esprit is “Crystal Yacht Casual.” This is defined as comfortable, stylish attire that includes tasteful swimming attire and shorts and similar yacht/resort wear during the day. For evenings, the dress code is defined as “elevated fashionably chic.”

Amenities on the yacht include bathrobes, slippers, a hair dryer, ETRO soap, body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Both 110 and 220-volt outlets and USB ports are available as well as a bedside iPad that runs all your electronics, lighting, shades, and alarm for your suite. Each of the 31 suites features 42″ HD ultrathin TVs and free unlimited Wi-Fi.

Number of Formal Nights: The line says “Formal eveningwear is not expected nor required. If you prefer to dress more formally, you are welcome to do so,” but there are no formal nights.

Nightly Casual Option: All restaurants are “resort casual,” but Windows Cafe allows for an even more relaxed option.

Why Choose Crystal Cruises For Your Cruise Holiday

We highly recommend Crystal Cruises if you seek an all-inclusive holiday aboard a cruise ship that doesnt feel restrictive in terms of size. For example, guest capacities on Serenity and Symphony are 1,100 and 1,010, respectively, making them larger than many of the vessels in service for other luxury cruise lines.

However, this does have its advantages. Both Crystal ships are packed full of amenities and facilities, including a cinema, two outdoor swimming pools and an electric golf simulator amongst the usual variety of bars and lounges you would expect.

Crystal Cruises ships also offer a variety of health-related facilities. The spa is equal to that which you may find in a luxury retreat, while Crystals array of onboard enrichment classes will let you try your hand at everything from keyboard playing to the ancient art of Tai Chi.

Crystal Cruises To Change Dress Code

Crystal Cruises Relaxes Its Dress Code

Starting in December, the rules for dressing after 6 p.m. should be easier to remember on Crystal Cruises.

The luxury line is streamlining its dress code, paring the options from three to two, one of which is a black-tie option for formal nights. The rest of the time, cruisers can fall back on what is being billed as “Crystal Casual,” a dressed-up version of casual attire.

Crystal Casual includes dresses, skirts, dressy slacks and blouses or sweaters for women. Guys can wear either dress shirts and sport coats , or an open-collar or collared polo shirt and dress pants/smart trousers.

An in-between option now called elegant casual, that specifies a suit or sport coat for men and includes cocktail dresses for ladies is the category being eliminated.

“With just two straightforward evening attire preferences, we ease the stress of packing and planning, and put the focus on the excitement of the voyage ahead,” said Crystal president Edie Rodriguez.

Several upscale lines in recent years have made informality a selling point, putting pressure on those with more formal rules, such as Seabourn and Cunard Line, to follow suit.

Disney Cruise Dress Code

Despite the line’s price point, Disney cruises often draw families with kids, so daytime dress is fairly casual, with shorts and t-shirts fair game, as well as swimsuits near the pools. Princess and pirate costumes and mouse ears are also common.

In the evenings, the line’s ships remain “cruise casual” most of the time, with shorts and t-shirts permitted, even in the main dining rooms.

Twice on each weeklong sailing and once on each cruise of less than seven nights, passengers have the option to participate in “dress-up night,” which calls for slacks and jackets for men and dresses, skirts and blouses or pantsuits for women.

Some specialty restaurants — particularly Remy, one of the most expensive for-fee restaurants on any cruise ship — prohibit jeans and require jackets for men.

Crystal Cruises, the ultra-luxury cruise line and 19 time winner of the Travel + Leisures World Best recently announced it will be relaxing its evening attire dress code. The move to a more simplified dress code is based on feedback from its guests, according to Crystal. The updated dress code is now just two categories: Crystal Casual and Optional Black Tie.

With just two straight-forward evening attire preferences, we ease the stress of packing and planning, and put the focus on the excitement of the voyage ahead, said Crystal President and COO Edie Rodriguez.

CRYSTAL CASUAL

Crystal Casual dress code calls for a dressed up version of casual looks. For women, Crystal Casual includes a dress, or a blouse or sweater and skirt or dressy slacks. Mens Crystal Casual attire can include a sport coat, dress shirt, button-down shirt, open-collar or collared polo shirt and dress pants.

What Should I Wear On A Cruise A Guide To Cruise Line Dress Codes

The Cruising Lifestyle – Crystal Cruises

Few issues create as much confusion among cruisers as what to wear to dinner. Some cruise line dress codes accept a clean T-shirt and jeans as acceptable evening attire, while others require a jacket and tie if you want to dine in the main restaurant. If you’re wondering what you should wear on a cruise, especially onboard at night, here’s how each major cruise line would like you to dress.

Do Celestyal Cruises Have Formal Nights

Celestyal cruises do have formal nights. They are called gala nights and this is when guests are encouraged to wear their best. Celestyal also have Captains Cocktail nights. If you are taking a cruise which is 4 or 7 nights long you will only have one gala night. 3 night cruises do not have any gala nights.

For Gala Night and Captains Cocktail, please attend in formal dress: a cocktail dress or something smart for ladies jacket and tie for men.

The gala nights will be mentioned on the front page of the daily schedule that is delivered to your room each night. We decided that we didnt want to dress up so chose not to attend the gala night.

The gala night dress code is applicable only to the main dining room so you always have the option of eating in the buffet if you dont want to dress up.

What to Wear, Men:

Men should wear a shirt and a tie. Celestyal arent an overly formal cruise line so you could wear a patterned shirt without problem. Pairing a shirt with a smart pair of chinos would also be okay.

Some guests may wear a jacket but this isnt mandatory. It can get very warm in Greece is peak season so I imagine most guests wouldnt want to wear a jacket. That said, cruise ships do have great air conditioning!

What Are The Advantages Of A Fly Cruise Over A No

There are countless advantages to fly cruises over no-fly, with the main advantage being able to immerse yourself fully in the environment and culture of locations quicker than ever before. Typically with cruises departing from the UK, it can take you a day or two, and sometimes more, to reach your first port of call, whereas, with a fly cruise, you can start your holiday straight away.

In addition, fly cruising allows you to spend more time exploring a destination than a cruise itinerary usually allows for. Guests can also experience two styles of holiday in one by adding days in port pre-departure or post-departure.

Moreover, fly cruising gives you more flexibility with departure ports. Some major cruise ports in the UK, such as Southampton, may be inconvenient for some travellers, so the ability to fly from varying airports across the UK gives your holiday a new level of flexibility.

What Not To Pack For A Luxury Cruise

Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need to pack two steamer trunks’ worth of stuff for a luxury cruise. These days, even luxury cruisers don’t bring tons of clothes, given all the baggage restrictions and travel hassles. Here are a few items you don’t need to bring — either because they’re not up to the style of other luxury cruise travelers or you simply don’t need them.

Polyester: Leave inexpensive polyester clothes at home. Luxury cruisers usually wear cotton, linen and silk.

Loud attire: Don’t pack loud-colored or wildly patterned clothes . Forget those bright, inexpensive Hawaiian shirts, too.

Don’t bring tank tops, cutoff shorts and torn or distressed jeans.

Logo-wear: Skip the touristy T-shirts and baseball caps, especially those advertising bars or cheesy destinations. If you see these anywhere on a luxury ship, it’s only in the gym.

Expensive jewelry: You might be surprised, but most luxury cruisers bring attractive costume pieces . To avoid against theft while traveling, they limit the expensive baubles to a wedding and/or cocktail ring, earrings and a watch.

Toiletries: Leave shampoos, conditioners and lotions at home. Luxury ships provide passengers with high-end toiletries, such as Hermes, Bulgari and L’Occitane.

Smoking And Drone Policy

TTG

Guests who want to smoke on their balconies may find the smoking policy a bit restrictive, as only several dedicated places are designated for smokers, including those using e-cigarettes.

While some travelers want to bring drones and they may be legal in some destinations, Crystal Cruises requires that you surrender all drones to the Captain at embarkation, and that they be kept in storage until your final disembarkation.

What To Expect On Board

Food

The food alone is reason enough to book a Crystal cruise. Dining in the main restaurants is an event starring a Continental-inspired menu of dishes served by European-trained waiters. Off-menu item requests are honored when possible, and special dietary considerations are

handled with ease. Full-course vegetarian menus are among the best at sea. Themed to the region you are sailing, lavish luncheon buffets take place on deck on select days at sea. Casual poolside dining beneath the stars is offered on some evenings in a relaxed, no-reservations option. A variety of hot-and-cold hors d’oeuvres are served in bars and lounges every evening before dinner and again during the wee hours in The Bistro.

But the specialty restaurants really shine. Contemporary Japanese-Peruvian cuisine is served in Umi Uma, featuring the signature dishes of Nobu Matsuhisa. Both ships also have Prego, which serves Northern Italian cuisine. In the evening the Churrascaria serves Brazilian steakhouse favorites in the Lido Marketplace, and Silk offers Chinese-inspired alfresco dining on deck at lunch and dinner.

Exclusive Wine & Champagne Makers dinners are hosted in the Vintage Room. On select evenings, casual poolside theme dinners are served under the stars.

  • Before sailing, each passenger receives a personal email address.

  • Ambassador Hosts on Crystal cruises interact with female passengers.

  • Wi-Fi is totally free and unlimited for all your devices.

Princess Cruises Dress Code

While Princess’ daytime dress guidelines suggest that you “dress the same way you would do ashore,” the line draws from a slightly older passenger base and is one of the few that still offers a traditional formal night on its ships.

During the day, t-shirts and shorts or jeans are the norm, with “smart causal” nights calling for nice pants and collared shirts without ties for men and casual dresses or skirts or pants with tops for women.

Cruisers who sail with Princess will see one formal night on sailings of less than a week, two on voyages of seven to 13 days and three on cruises of 14 to 20 days.

Despite what seems like a love of formality, the line recommends cocktail dresses and pantsuits for women and suits or slacks with jackets for men, with no mention of ball gowns or tuxes.
