Are Regent Cruises Worth The Money

Don't Miss

Who Provides The Best Value Oceania Or Regent Seven Seas

Regent Seven Seas Cruises Are Worth The Wait

Despite being owned by the same parent company , Oceania and Regent Seven Seas have a distinct product offering that makes them more like cousins than sister brands. Oceania sits in the higher end of the premium range with some perks included, while Regent boasts an all-inclusive luxury cruise experience.

Every cruise fare with Regent Seven Seas includes alcoholic beverages , all dining options, Wi-Fi, gratuities and free unlimited shore excursions. There are some optional extras available for purchase throughout the journey, such as specialty classes in the onboard Culinary Arts Kitchen, Spa Services, and a collection of for fee Regent Choice Shore Excursions, however you could practically leave your wallet at home and still get plenty out of the experience.

Cruising with Oceania is more of an a la carte affair youll have your dining , Wi-Fi , pre-paid gratuities, and non-alcoholic beverages included, but youll have to pay for alcohol and on shore experiences. Oceanias OLife promotion currently lets guests choose one of three added bonuses as part of their fare , but anything beyond the standard fare inclusions or covered by guests chosen OLife perk is at a cost.

To determine which is the best value for you, it comes down to whether youll make use of the added benefits that make up Regents cruise price, or whether youll still come out ahead once youve factored in the costs you would ultimately be adding onto your Oceania fare.

What To Expect On Board

Food

Menus may appear to include the usual beef Wellington and Maine lobster, but in the hands of Regent Seven Seas chefs the results are some of the most outstanding meals at sea. Specialty dining varies within the fleet, but Seven Seas Voyager and Seven Seas Mariner,

have the edge with the sophisticated Signatures, featuring the most authentic French cuisine to be found outside of Paris. Prime 7, on all three ships, is a contemporary adaptation of the classic American steak house offering fresh, distinctive decor and an innovative menu of the finest prime-aged steak and chops, along with fresh seafood and poultry specialties. In addition, Mediterranean-influenced bistro dinners that need no reservations are served in Sette Mari at La Veranda, the venue that is the daytime casual Lido buffet restaurant.

Wine Connoisseurs Dinners are offered occasionally on longer cruises to bring together people with an interest in wine and food. Each course on the degustation menu is complemented by a wine pairing. The cost varies according to the special vintage wines that are included.

Room-service menus are fairly extensive, and you can also order directly from the restaurant menus during regular serving hours.

Anyone who has priced out a suite on a cruise ship knows theyre not inexpensive.

As The Points Guy showed in a family cruise lines pricing comparison, youll often pay at least 50% more for a suite on a cruise vessel than for a standard cabin. Sometimes the premium can be much higher.

At $11,000 a night, the top suite on luxury line Regent Seven Seas Cruisesnew Seven Seas Splendor, for instance, is more than five times the cost of a standard cabin on the vessel.

Still, its not just high pricing that sets suites on cruise ships apart. Cruise ship suites also are typically a lot bigger than standard cabins on cruise vessels, have better locations and come with a long list of extra perks that you wont get with a regular cabin.

The perks often include lots of complimentary things for which youd normally pay extra on a ship such as Wi-Fi access and dinners in top shipboard restaurants.

    Theres A New Drinks Menu

The Regent Seven Seas Splendor will set sail with US$5 ...

With the debut of Seven Seas Splendor, Regent is diving head first into the trend toward ever-quirkier craft drinks. The ship is home to 19 new signature cocktails made with fresh fruits, natural spices and garden-grown herbs, and served with all sorts of garnishes in picked-specifically-for-the-drink glasses.

In the name of research, I tried a number of the new concoctions, including the Bonne Soiree a mix of Woodford Reserve bourbon, Chambord and citrus bitters that was slung my way in a coupe glass. It had an oversized ice sphere plopped in the middle.

Other than finding the giant ball of ice a bit in-the-way , I found the Bonne Soiree quite bon. Its citrus and raspberry notes were delightful. Of course, Ill probably call anything with bourbon delightful.

The new drinks menu also includes a lineup of fancy gin drinks that incorporate new-for-Regent Fever-Tree premium tonics and all sorts of spices, herbs and fruits.

Nearly all signature cocktails and the new gin drinks are included in the fare and will be rolling out to other Regent ships starting later this year.

As with the best grand hotels, design touches are around every turn.

    Regent Seven Seas Cruises

we are contemplating taking a regent cruise in 2018….does anyone have an advice about the cruises and whether or not they are worth the big price tag?

Actually the price tag is not so big once you compare what is included with Regent vs what you’ll pay to buy the same elements a la carte on other lines. Visit a luxury cruise specialist in your area and work together to find out what is best for you.

Believe me, I’ve researched the cr…..p out of this subject.

we’ve been on many cruises and I’ve compared the total cost of a “pay as you go” to the Regent “all inclusive”..but if the price ends up being similar, am I getting value for my money? Am I getting added luxury upgrades say from a “princess”cruise? I am working with a travel agent who is primarily a “luxury” tour expert and they all say this is the crème de la crème but when I read some trip advisor reviews, I get mixed reactions. I just want someone to be honest with me about the experience. Am I going to be disappointed? or am I going to be wowed? Have you been on a Regent cruise yourself? or a few? I”d like your opinion.

They are smaller ships & less people so it will be a different feel than the main stream lines

    Some people love Regent

The new Explorer is suppose to be true luxury

We do not drink much or take ships tours so the all inclusive deal is not value for us

You could ask opinions on the Regent forum on Cruise critic but at the end of the day only you can decide

    Thanks for your candid opinion.

The Ship Is Spacious Really Spacious

One last thing to note about Seven Seas Splendor is that its one of the most spacious ships at sea. Its space ratio a measure of how much space there is per passenger is nearly 74. Thats about twice the space per passenger as many mass-market vessels.

By comparison, the space ratio of cruise giant Carnivals newest ship, Carnival Panorama, is only around 33. The space ratio of the newest Norwegian ship, Norwegian Encore, is approximately 42.

What a space ratio like that means is you will never feel crowded on Seven Seas Splendor, and youll rarely encounter a line anywhere whether at the boarding area or at the poolside grill.

Longer Cruises Make A World Of Difference On Regent Seven Seas Cruises

are Verandahs REALLY Worth The Money on Disney Cruise Line?

I know one female entrepreneur, a self-made millionaire, who frequently cruises with 25 Louis Vuitton suitcases in tow and numerous wigs so that she can change as often as she likes. ;She loves World Cruises, and ;packs ;innumerable ballgowns , bathing suits, and resortwear. She also typically books a second cabin just for the extra closet space. And have I mentioned the catered parties she holds in her suite, for all of her new-found friends onboard? Oh yes, complete with custommade monogrammed napkins that she brings on board with her.

Theres a lot to be said for taking a World Cruise it is a fabulous experience from aft to stern.

But if you cant commit to that length of time just yet consider an extended cruise.

We recently sailed for 32 days on Regent Seven Seas CruisesExplorer which holds title as The Worlds Most Luxurious Cruise Ship.;And it is.;We fell in love with the ship, the staff, and the ports of call on our Mediterranean cruise and the more and more we sailed on, the more we came to love the fact that we chose an extended cruise on Regent. In fact, many industry experts we consulted with confirmed that extended cruising is a hot new trend.

It makes sense.;With all the time and effort it takes to plan any trip, it simply is a good idea to make it count for the most time away.

The Regent Suite on the Explorer is the “best room in the house,” and this photo explains why.
