What Types Of Machines And/or Tables Will I Find In The Casino

There are not as many casino cruise operators in Florida as there were a few years ago but every so often a new player appears.
In early 2013, Genting, who have been trying to build a super casino in Miami for years, bought a 1,600 passenger 32,000 ton fast ferry and renamed it the Bimini SuperFast Ferry. They now offer a 2 1/2 hour fast crossing from South Florida to Bimini in the Bahamas where they have built a new casino at Resorts World Bimini Bay.

While cruise ships are not yet sailing, I recently had the chance to do some gambling on the high seas thanks to a trip aboard the Florida-based casino ship Victory 1.
While much smaller than a ship like Carnival Vista or Norwegian Breakaway, the experience offered insight into how mainstream lines might deal with some of their casino-centric returns when theyre finally able to sail again.
What Is The Minimum Age To Play Or Hang Out In The Casino
On most cruise ships, the minimum age to be in the casino is 18. Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Azamara raise that age to 21 on sailings in Alaska, while MSC raises it to 21 in the Caribbean. Princess Cruises, Windstar and Seabourn Cruises are among the few lines that require passengers to be 21 in the casinos on all sailings. In many cases, casinos are located along main thoroughfares, so kids will be walking through although they’re not supposed to linger. If you wish to gamble, but think you might be too young, check with your travel agent or the cruise line before booking.

Two Us Cruise Lines Announce Covid Vaccination Mandate For Guests Crew
Two U.S. cruise line companies announced all passengers and crew must get the Covid-19 vaccine in order to sail.
American Queen Steamboat Company and Victory Cruise Lines both issued “SafeCruise” guidance that states a vaccination is required for all sailings beginning July 1, 2021.
The cruise lines, both part of the Hornblower Group, said the mandate “will further ensure the wellbeing of the individuals who overnight on our vessels.”
“Additionally, protecting the communities we visit on each itinerary is also a priority as the vaccine requirement will help provide an additional safety measure that we are mandating to safeguard these communities,” the companies said.
American Queen Steamboat Company offers multiday river cruises in the U.S. such as the Columbia and Snake Rivers and the Mississippi. Victory Cruise Lines sails around the Great Lakes and offers trips to Canada, The Bahamas, Alaska and Mexico.
If a vaccine requires two shots such as Moderna and Pfizer guests and crew will need to have received both doses prior to boarding. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine would only require one dose.
The cruise lines said because most of their passengers are over the age of 65, they should be eligible to receive the vaccine before the July 1 mandate.
Cruises were halted after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a no-sail order in the country. The order was lifted at the end of October.

The newest player in the Florida casino cruise market was Las Vegas Cruise Lines and they had hoped to start operations in April 2008 with their ship, the 300 foot Liquid Vegas but first sailings from Port Canaveral were delayed.
When operations commenced, Las Vegas Cruise Lines offered Craps, Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Roulette, Let-It-Ride, Mini Baccarat, Texas Holdem and over 500 slot machines.
The ship held around 900 passengers and had four cocktail lounges, live entertainment, a dance lounge with DJ, hot and cold buffets and gift shops.
In early 2009, Las Vegas Cruise Lines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and in May 2009 they ceased operations.

Are Drinks Free In A Cruise Ship Casino The Same Way They Are In A Land Casino
Drinks are only free in casinos on ships where drinks are always free, such as luxury lines including Crystal, Silversea and Regent. On most ships, you’ll have to pay for your drinks just like you do at the bar or in the dining room. Pit bosses do have the authority to buy a round for the table a couple of times a night, so make friends with the pit boss if you can. If you’re a member of a cruise ship’s casino loyalty program and have racked up enough points, you might earn free drinks but most programs require you to bet a significant amount of money before all drinks are on the house.

If you want to have a flutter in Florida then you have a number of options including:

Gambling in Florida is strictly controlled and as a result a number of cruise lines used to operate short casino cruises from a variety of Florida ports, though this number has dropped dramatically in the last couple of years, particularly with the competition from the on-land Seminole gambling casinos.

Casino cruises typically last around four to five hours with one sailing late morning and the other early evening . You may also find late night cruises on offer as well.
If you fancy a slightly longer cruise then there are one day and two night mini-cruises to the Grand Bahamas with onboard casinos and many of the major cruise lines operating out of Florida also offer gambling on board their short Caribbean cruises.
As an incentive some Florida casino cruise companies offer all manner of complimentary treats including free transportation to the port, free parking, free meals and drinks and free entertainment. Free drinks are usually only offered whilst gaming.
Typical cruise costs per person range from zero up to around $50 though you will often find reductions during mid week. Note that you may also need to pay various port taxes, Federal Excise Tax and a Passenger Security Charge.

Table Games Have Fewer Players Per Game
Another way the casino has been modified and which could easily be adoptable by cruise ships is that the table games allow fewer players. While the typical poker or blackjack table might seat up to six people, these seemed to max out at four, leaving much more space.
As someone who never really liked the elbow-to-elbow set up on cruise ships, this would be welcome even if it werent necessary.
Like all of the other employees, dealers were wearing masks and gloves. And like everywhere else on the ship, the moment a player stepped away from a game whether it was a slot or a table a staffer seemed to appear out of nowhere, ready to wipe everything down so it would be ready for the next player.
How They Dealt With Smokers
Spend any time in a cruise ship casino, and you know that the air can get thick with smoke pretty quickly. But with it being impossible to smoke while wearing a mask, the Victory I strictly forbids puffing while in the casino. All smokers are asked to step outside.
Meanwhile, the casino cages had glass partitions separating the cashier from the passengers.
Honestly, this didnt feel all that unusual, as it was similar to the set-ups youd find at a concert venue or old-school movie theater, where they have a slot through which to push things back and forth.
If youve been paying attention to discussions about the future of cruising, youll know buffets have been a very hot topic. On the Victory I, theyve temporarily closed theirs down in favor of serving food ala carte. The same was true of soda, tea and coffee.
While in the past they had self-serve stations where you could help yourself to a beverage, all drink orders must not be given to a staffer.
Again, they clearly looked for any way they could find to reduce touchpoints. If they could avoid you touching something, they did.

Again, this depends on the cruise line. Most of the big ships allow smoking in the casino some, like Carnival, have smoke-free sections .
