Getting To The Port Of Miami Cruise Terminals

If you are driving to Miami from north/central Florida, or from out of state, use the I-95 S which runs down the east coast of Florida.

You can also opt for the Florida Turnpike which is a quieter option with regular tolls. It runs for 340 miles from Ocala in North Central Florida to Miami before dividing.

Ignore the Homestead Extension Florida Turnpike and join the I-95 at Golden Glades for the most direct route. Follow signs for the Port Miami Tunnel and continue to your designated Cruise Terminal.

Which Would Work Better For Night Before Cruise

We are taking a cruise out of Miami next year and I’m starting to do research on hotels in the area. We would only be staying one night–a Saturday night–and then would be leaving the next morning for the cruise. Here are the two scenarios:

#1-Stay at hotel near airport, take hotel shuttle back to airport in morning & use cruise transfers to pier .

#2-Stay at hotel close to pier, use taxi or find a hotel near pier with a shuttle to get to hotel from airport . In the morning use taxi to get to pier.

Does anyone have experience with this or suggestions? Would one plan be better than the other cost-wise? What about for less hassle/stress? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

We have cruised a few times out of Miami..the best thing to do is rent a car at the airport from alamo and then return it at the port of maimi just prior to cruise. they will shuttle you over to the ship. depending on how long your wait is post cruise for your air, it might actually be cheaper to rent a car for that day as well. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

Wow… In my old age of 47, I have found my life is much easier and less stressful if I take a taxi cab rather than renting a car so I don’t have to worry about where I’m going .

cruise.

Based on this info, staying near the airport seems cheaper.

At Hampton Inn it will be $7 each; at Marriot sounds like $17 each unless the “van/taxi” is less than the airport shuttle.

Best of luck with your cruise!
