What Affects Cruise Line Costs

Disney Cruise Line – All That’s Included

Before we go through exactly what your cruise might cost, we have to first break down what could impact the price of your trip. Prices can vary based on different factors, including things like travel dates, room type, destination, and more. Changing up these factors can make a HUGE difference in the price of your vacation!

Disney Cruise Line Pool

First, lets discuss room type. When booking a Disney Cruise, youll notice that theres a stark contrast in price between the various stateroom types. Inside staterooms are the cheapest, followed by Oceanview. Oceanview rooms will have a porthole but not a balcony. If you want something a bit fancier than that, then you can go for an Oceanview Room with a Verandah these rooms have their own balconies. The most expensive room category is Concierge, which offers the highest quality rooms with the best amenities, including access to the Concierge Lounge.

You also may be able to save some money by traveling on the older ships. Disney Cruise Line has 4 ships currently sailing the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic are the oldest ships. The Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are newer. And soon the brand NEW Disney Wish will be setting sail.

Disney Cruise Line Discounts

There are several other ways in which to get discounts on Disney cruises. For example, its possible to place a $250 placeholder fee that can be used on a cruise within the next two years. This lets you bank some of the costs ahead of time until you find a cruise within your budget.

Also, Disney will sometimes run promotions for Canadian residents, Florida residents, and military members. Each of these tends to be a flat percentage of the cost of the cruise.

These promotions are part of the special offers page on the Disney Cruise website, so be sure to check that out regularly.

Is A Disney Cruise Worth The Money

Whether or not a Disney cruise is worth it for your family depends on your budget and how much your family enjoys the Disney experience in general.

First, the pros. A Disney cruise is a more premium experience with a slightly more intimate feel, especially on the smaller Disney cruise ships. Some of the larger cruise ships on other cruise lines carry 5,000+ passengers. If you cruise during a peak holiday period, you can feel overwhelmed by kids running amuck. This is less likely to occur on a smaller Disney cruise ship.

Now, the cons. Other cruise lines besides Disney are more likely to have a larger roster of destinations and itineraries with year-round sailings from North American homeports. You can take your pick of sailings to the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska or head to more exotic destinations like Asia, South America, Europe, and Australia. While Disney does have worldwide itineraries, you wont have as much choice.

It boils down to this. The extra cost of a Disney cruise is worth it if you really enjoy the Disney experience. If on the other hand, you want casinos, flexible dining, and more adult-oriented entertainment and activities, then a Disney cruise might not be worth it for you.

Disney Cruise Line Internet Access

Disney Cruise Line no longer has public computer terminals. Internet access is available using your own device. For help with internet, visit the desk, which is located in the Promenade Lounge on the Magic & Wonder, and on Deck 4 near the Midship elevators on the Dream & Fantasy. See rates below.

If your laptop computer is wireless equipped, you can use it onboard. If you dont have a laptop, there are computers available.

Internet services are available aboard the ships with options like Wireless hotspots and Internet cafes. Check with guest services for these locations.

Please Note: Due to the technology involved and satellite connectivity, the onboard internet service will be slower than you may be accustomed to and may at times be interrupted or unavailable. This is particularly true on at-Sea Days, when there are more people onboard the ship accessing the service.

Wireless Internet Pricing

  • Pay as you go $0.25 per megabyte
  • Small package 100 megabytes for $19
  • Medium package 300 megabytes for $39
  • Large package 1,000 megabytes for $89
  • Concierge guests in Cat S, T and V will get 100 free megabytes of internet.
  • Concierge guests in Cat R will get free internet for the length of the cruise.

Internet plans can be used interchangeably on laptops and desktops throughout the ship. Please note, however, that plans cannot be upgraded once purchased, and credit will not be issued for unused plan minutes. Prices are subject to change at any time without notice.

One of the more innovative cruise lines out there, Royal Caribbean doesn’t stop with the stage when it comes to live-action shows. Its Oasis-class ships feature the AquaTheater, a water-based stage that showcases high diving and acrobatics, and its Quantum-class ships offer Two70, a high-tech performance venue that combines music, dance, digital imagery and computer technology to wow audiences. Voyager-, Freedom- and Oasis-class ships offer ice skating shows in an onboard rink, while select Vision- and Radiance-class ships feature evening aerial shows in the atrium.

Choose Disney Cruise Line If Your Little Ones Love To Get Wet

While Freedom- and Oasis-class ships do have small splash areas for the swim diaper set and water play areas for kids, most Royal Caribbean ships just have standard pools and hot tubs. Disney, on the other hand, goes out of its way to offer all-ages water fun on all four ships. It’s got splash zones for toddlers, shallow pools and junior water slides for kids, and regular pools for family fun. Select ships have the AquaLab water play area with water dump buckets and geysers and the aforementioned water rides. Both lines have lifeguards stationed at pools.

How Much Is A Disney Cruise Compared To Other Cruise Lines

I looked up the average price per person for a seven-night Caribbean cruise based on two people sharing a balcony cabin. As well as the cruise fare, I also factored in the cost of gratuities and noted whether drinks are included or extra.

As you can see from the table below, Disney cruises are more expensive than other mainstream cruise lines. They are priced at around double what you would pay for the average cruise.

Choose Disney Cruise Line If You Are More Interested In The Destination And Disney Cruise Experience

While there are some nuanced differences among the four Disney cruise ships, you will get most of the same entertainment opportunities, dining venues and cabin types fleetwide. Most people decide they want to experience Disney’s superb attention to detail and entertainment mastery, choose a destination and end up on the ship that goes there — rather than selecting a ship first.

How Much Does A 7 Day Cruise Cost Per Person

If this is the case, the total cost of your vacation will, of course, end up being higher. However, as you can see, the total cost of everything youll spend over a 7-day cruise might add up to around $2,000 per person by the time youve accounted for everything. Prices for shorter trips are roughly $1,500 per person.

Food On A Disney Cruise

The first thing to keep in mind with this comparison is that when you are on a Disney Cruise you truly are getting more. Lets look at food first. The Disney Dining Plan entitles you to one Quick-Service Meal, one Table Service Meal, and two Snacks per person, per day, whereas on a Disney Cruise you have unlimited meals and snacks. Admit it: access to ice cream whenever you want sounds pretty sweet! But it goes beyond that.

On our recent trip aboard the Disney Magic, we experienced Rapunzels Royal Table, a dinner show that is at least on par with Cinderellas Royal Table in Walt Disney World. Character meals such as these in the park require two Table Service Meal credits on the Disney Dining Plan.

For many cruisers, breakfast and lunch will be at Cabanas, an all-you-can-eat buffet, which compared to the Disney Dining Plan equates to a 1 credit Table Service experience, not a Quick Service Meal, plus you get one extra meal. But maybe Room Service is more your style. On the Disney Dining Plan, we are back to a two-credit Table Service charge for In-Room Dining at the Disney Resort hotels, whereas Room Service on a Disney Cruise ship is included â you only have to tip.

Choose Royal Caribbean If You Want A Deal

Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, Cabin Category 4A ...

While last-minute discounts are only offered on short sailings of four nights or less, Royal Caribbean offers so many itineraries, often with multiple ships in the same destination that flexible travelers can often find reasonable deals. Inside cabins can be had for under $100 per person, per night. Look for limited-time promotions offering discounts, onboard credit or reduced deposits.

Is The Disney Cruise Cost Worth It

Looking at these numbers, we can see that the average, non-discounted Disney Cruise Line vacation could cost your family of four almost $200 more per person, per night, than the average, non-discounted Walt Disney World vacation would. And if you are getting amazing attractions, dining, and experiences at Walt Disney World and on a Disney Cruise, why spend the extra money on one instead of the other?

Since so many Disney fans visit Disney World in Florida and sail on Disney Cruise Line out of Port Canaveral in Florida, itâs no surprise that the question of whether to take a Disney Cruise or go on a Disney World trip would come up. Here are some reasons why the Disney Cruise cost is worth it and what sets Disney Cruise Line apart from Walt Disney World Resort. Remember that every Disney trip is a magical one, but a Disney Cruise vacation is truly something special!

How Much Does A 4

Since a cruise that lasts for four nights typically offers cheaper deals due to the fact that it departs during the week, you should consider going on such a trip if you are able to skip some of the days of the workweek. For a stay of four nights, the cost ranges from $212 to $418 per person, each day on average. The cost of a 7-night cruise for a family of four will range anywhere from $5,300 to $10,000.

The Price Of A Disney Cruise Will Vary And Is Dependent On These Factors:

Disney Cruise Line vs Royal Caribbean
  • Number of guests & ages of your children
  • Length of Cruise

The lowest Ive seen a Disney Cruise price be for a family of 4 is for a three-night cruise to the Bahamas.

You will be able to go for a little over $3K if you cruise in the off-season and dont mind an interior room on one of the older ships .

That same cruise in the summer will cost you $1-2k more!

If you would like to take a 5-7 night cruise during the summer months anywhere off the coast of the USA, you will pay upwards of $6-7k for that same family of four.

So, what do you get for that kind of money? Disney includes quite a bit things that other cruise lines will charge extra fees for.

Factors That Affect The Price Of A Disney Cruise

When looking at the price of a Disney cruise, many factors affect the price. The time of year of the cruise can often influence the price. Like other travel products like airfare and hotels, demand significantly influences the price.

With a limited supply of staterooms and only four ships , the price is definitely impacted by the current demand for staterooms.

Youll often find that Disney Cruises that take place during peak times of year will be more expensive than other weeks. Youll want to book those early to get the most stateroom options and the best Disney Cruise prices.

If you are thinking of doing a Caribbean cruise, January can be a great option and is often the cheapest month. Typically all four ships are sailing in the Caribbean, so there are lots of sailings to choose from, with a variety of different Caribbean itineraries.

In addition, because the Caribbean can sometimes be chilly in January, its not as busy. Ive been on several January cruises, and while sometimes the weather has been a little cool, weve also been very lucky with perfect weather.

Of course, most schools are in session for most of January, so it can be more difficult to sail then if your kids are in school. Martin Luther King weekend typically is more expensive than the rest of the month.

Special cruises, like the Very Merrytime Cruises and the Marvel Day at Sea, may also cost a bit more than a standard cruise. Often discounts arent available on these cruises.

How Do Disney Cruise Prices Compare To Other Cruise Lines

We all see the ads for a 3-night cruise for $299, while that can be great, comparing the $299 cruise to the Disney cruise cost is apples and oranges. If you want to make a fair comparison, take a look at the biggest competitors, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian & Carnival, and look at their newer fleet of ships .

There you can see the best that each has to offer. I compared the Disney Fantasy in July to Royal Caribbeans Harmony of the Seas. The prices ended up being between $150-$200 more per person for the Disney Cruise.

Disney Cruise Cost Per Person

Most people dont cruise alone, so the cost per person is an important measure for pricing out a vacation. All the default options for a Disney cruise start out with the price for two guests.

Its important to note that these are the prices for the stateroom even if one person stays in the room alone.

All staterooms are based on double occupancy, so theres no such thing as a price for a one-person cruise.

Still, the best way to figure out the price per person is to look at some sample cruise packages.

For a 5-Night Western Caribbean cruise departing from Port Canaveral, Florida, and sailing to Cozumel, Mexico and Disney Castaway Cay, the prices start at $3,382 for two guests.

That means the price is $1,691 per person, but staterooms are based on double occupancy.
