What Cruise Line Goes To Coco Cay

Don't Miss

Your Seapass Card Works Almost Everywhere

Day 2 Coco Cay Bahamas Royal Carribean 7 Day Cruise

Just like on the ship, Royal Caribbean designed Perfect Day at CocoCay to be reliant on the SeaPass card instead of cash.

Your SeaPass card will get you into Thrill Waterpark, Coco Beach Club, and any shore excursion you book. Dont worry about losing shore excursion tickets. Everything is loaded to your SeaPass card.

It is also how you pay for drinks or souvenirs.

The one place your SeaPass card does not work is the Artisan Market, so bring cash for that.

Do I Need Money When Ashore

Money will not be needed for food and drinks on CocoCay. But, you may want some money to provide tips to the helpful staff on the island. You will also need some cash if you plan to purchase items from the Straw Market. Although your Sea Pass card does not work at the Straw Market, some vendors may accept credit cards. We usually bring $50-$100 just in case we want to buy something.

How To Spend Two Days At Cococay

Starting September 30, both Navigator of the Seas and will be doing special sailings to Perfect Day.

All will be four-day trips, with some featuring extended hours at CocoCay and others making two stops there, with a visit to Nassau thrown in for good measure.

Perfect Day at CocoCay has revolutionized private destinations in the vacation industry, and the resounding feedback from our guests is that they want more, says Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. More time and even more ways to experience the island. Were building on an incredible adventure thats already winning the hearts of many.

Its not surprising that Royal Caribbean would want to give visitors more time to enjoy their private destination, given that they pumped over $250 million into renovations. Among the attractions now found there are a hot-air balloon, the Caribbeans largest freshwater pool, new dining options, a 1,600 foot zip-line course and a slew of waterslides.

Still to come later this year is the Coco Beach Club, which will feature a massive infinity pool and the highly-anticipated over-water cabanas.

Navigator of the Seas will sail out of Miami and head to Nassau, followed by an extended day at CocoCay and a sea day. will head out of Orlando before doing either a sea day followed by Nassau and an extended day at CocoCay, or two visits to CocoCay with a Nassau visit between them.

What Is There To Do At Cococay

CocoCay has more activities than its possible to do in a day, so its definitely worth planning ahead. The activities can be broadly split into thrill and chill. So whether you want fast-paced fun or to relax and recharge, youre sure to have a great time. Or if you want to do a bit of each, you can do that too.

Chill Island

Things to see and do at CocoCay include:

  • Chill Island Relax on the beach, chill in a private cabana, ride a jet ski or snorkel in the sea
  • Thrill Waterpark Ride water slides such as the Daredevils Peak, avoid the obstacles in the Adventure Pool or splash around in the Wave Pool

Can I Go In And Out Of The Club

Yes. Ships come early in the morning and leave in the evening giving passengers a chance to enjoy CocoCay all day. Theres also a lot to see and do around the island. It would be a shame if you had to spend the entire day in one area.

The good news is that with your wristband, youre given in and out access to the club. Have kids that want to go visit the waterpark? They can go have their fun and then come back for lunch. Likewise, you can go explore without being denied re-entry when you come back.

Is Coco Beach Club Worth The Money

Its always difficult to say if spending the money on something is worth it or not. After all, we all have different views on spending especially on vacation.

From our personal view, wed be hard-pressed to pay nearly $200 per person for admission to the beach club. Dont get us wrong the experience is top notch. The food is excellent and better than anything else on the island. And if you are wanting a quiet, relaxing time without the crowds, then it doesnt get any better than the Coco Beach Club.

Our view is that wed be happy to pay about half that much. The same sort of meal at any restaurant on land would run $40-50 per person. Add in another $50 to spend the day in a more private setting, and we think $100 per person would be a fair price.

Of course, many people pony up the admission price, including those that opt for the pricey cabanas. And in fact, that high price may be a tool used by the cruise line to limit the crowd size in the beach club. So if you like to let loose and pay up for a better experience, you arent alone.

If it is your first time visiting CocoCay, we think youd be smart to spend your day exploring and enjoying the rest of the island, which has tons to offer. If youve visited before or you simply know you want to have a private, quiet spot to spend your day then the Coco Beach Club may be an ideal way to spend your day.

Since Royal Caribbean operates the island, there is a bit less to have to bring than to a regular cruise port.

The most important things you should bring to the CocoCay are:

  • SeaPass card
  • Cash: The artisan market only takes cash. Tipping cabana attendants also requires cash.
  • Sunscreen
  • Closed-toe shoes: If you are going on the zip line, these will be needed.
  • Beach towels: You can get these from the ship. If you are in a cabana or Coco Beach Club, towels are provided for you.

Don’t Miss The Floating Bar

Located near South Beach, Royal Caribbean operates a floating bar in the ocean.

It is less of a swim-up bar, and more of a wade-up bar, but once you get to it, you climb a short ladder to get onboard the tiki bar and enjoy drinks in the ocean.

The floating bar has a limited selection of drinks, and no blender, so plan on beers or basic mixed drinks.

How Do You Pronounce Cococay

There is some debate over whether CocoCay is pronounced as kay or key. The word Cay is actually included in the name of many Caribbean islands, including private islands such as Castaway Cay, Half Moon Cay and Harvest Caye. According to the dictionary, a cay is a small, low island, and this word is pronounced as key. In fact, Bahamian locals often pronounce cay as key. However, more often than not, visitors and cruise line staff pronounce the Cay in CocoCay as kay. So, either way is acceptable.> /p?

CocoCay is located in the Bahamas, 65 miles northwest of Nassau.

Cruises To Jamaica And Other Beach Destinations

Enjoy the island spirit on a cruise to Jamaica and other Caribbean destinations.

The island of Jamaica is one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean. After all, Jamaica gave us reggae, Bob Marley, jerk chicken, and Blue Mountain coffee. A number of cruise lines stop in Jamaica, and the island is unique in that there are three main cruise ports: Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Falmouth. In addition, there’s Port Antonio on the northeastern coast although it’s not suitable for most large ships, boutique cruise lines and private yachts stop there.

There’s something for everyone in Jamaica, whether their interest is discovering the island’s pirate history or British colonial past, rum tasting, or exploring rivers, waterfalls, and rainforests. From hiking to relaxing on a white-sand beach, cruisers can find their happy place in Jamaica. James Bond fans might be interested to know that wrote his novels in Jamaica, and that scenes in the first 007 film, “Dr. No,” were filmed in Kingston.

Whatever piques your interest in Jamaica, a day on the island can be the highlight of a Caribbean cruise. We have checked out some cruises to Jamaica, and here are just a few of many options that vary in length, price, ship, departure point, and date.

Royal Caribbean Set To Expand Perfect Day At Cococay

Cruise Line & Cruise ShipRoyal Caribbean InternationalPatrick Clarke November 02, 2021

Royal Caribbean International is poised to expand its private island experience in the Bahamas in the coming year.

In a third-quarter 2021 update on the cruise line’s earnings, CEO Michael Bayley was clear that Perfect Day at CocoCay is “leading the charge” when it comes to consumer demand for sailings from the East Coast and also confirmed that the company is “reengaging” on plans to expand and bolster its destination projects nearly 20 months into the COVID-19 pandemic.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is expected to add a new adults-only area called Hideaway Beach in the months to come, a move that will allow Royal Caribbean to host more guests during the day-long excursion.

“It will allow us to increase our capacity by approximately 3,000 people a day in late 2022, which is obviously going to help improve our overall profitability and drive more revenue, both ticket and onboard,” said Bayley, who hinted at other projects in 2022.

“We have other projects that we’ve now started to reengage with. So I think our aspirations never really moved away. We just had to press pause for a while.”

Hideaway Beach is anticipated to open in late 2022.

Is It Worth It To Rent A Cabana

If you can afford it, a cabana rental is a great way to splurge during your day.

Cabanas offer privacy, shade, fantastic waiter service, and a “home base” for your family during your day. Your cabana attendant will bring you complimentary food throughout the day, as well as take drink orders.

Of course, cabanas have an extra cost and they are not cheap. Not to mention you may feel a sense of obligation to stay in the cabana to “get your money’s worth”.

The reason to book a cabana is for the privacy and service it provides. There is plenty of umbrellas and shade around the island, so don’t worry about that.

The more people you have, the more compelling a cabana is to book. If you have 6-8 guests, the price per person makes the choice far more reasonable. If you can split the cost between two families, then you really have a great value.

Got Kids Don’t Miss The Free Slides

It is easy to gravitate towards Thrill Waterpark, but Royal Caribbean provides two water splash areas for kids that costs absolutely nothing extra.

Captain Jill’s Galleon and Splashaway Bay are located immediately at the entrance to the island from the pier.

If you have younger kids , you may find these areas a great fit for kids, with seating around both areas for adults to supervise.

Both of the splash zones include small slides, water cannons, geysers and more.

Children up to 42 and 200lbs are able to use these areas.

Given there is no cost to go here, and many of the slides in the waterpark have height requirements, families with younger children may prefer Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon.
