Choose Fort Lauderdale If You’d Rather Stay At A Major Hotel Chain Very Close To The Port

There’s no dearth of hotel options in Fort Lauderdale, but they’re all clustered near each other along major highways in the city. The downside is Fort Lauderdale doesn’t offer a ton in the way of accommodations with distinct personality and a sense of local culture. The plus side is there are plenty of options less than a mile from port, meaning embarkation day is relatively stress free when the ship is within arm’s reach.

Transportation To And From The Miami Cruise Port

Once you arrive at the airport, you will have several transportation methods. Some of these options will depend on whether you fly in the day before or the day of your cruise.

As mentioned previously, if you live within driving distance of the Miami Cruise Port, you will likely be driving to the cruise terminal. If you are driving, we will discuss parking options a bit later. However, there are several other transportation options available.

If you are arriving the day of your cruise, a cruise line transfer from the airport might be the easiest option, though likely not the cheapest. Many cruise lines offer an option to book this transportation pre-cruise.

Once at the airport, a cruise line representative will greet you at baggage claim and escort you and your luggage to the check-in area. After checking-in, you will board the next departing bus to the ship. These transfers are available from both airports and can run upwards of $30 per person depending on the airport and the cruise line.

Further, they run on set time schedules.

There are also several independent shuttle options. These shuttle options may include shuttles from the airport to the cruise terminal and/or hotel shuttles. Some of these options include GO Airport shuttle, Florida Shuttle Transportation, and more.

Most often, these shuttles are a shared service that run on a set time schedule, or a private transfer can be arranged.

If you choose to travel privately, there are a lot of different options for you depending on the size of your party. Providers such as GroundLink offer travelers the choices of a private car, a van, or a stretch limo, and offer comparable pricing to other shuttle options.

For example, with GroundLink the prices start at $71, before gratuity, for a private car and driver. This price is fixed for at least three passengers, making it $24 for each person one-way, a great alternative to other taxis and shuttles. As one can see, for a family of four, choosing to travel privately is a wonderful way to start out your vacation in style, without necessarily breaking the bank!

Pros: A surprisingly affordable option for those traveling in larger groups, as many private car services offer stretch limos. Choosing this method is a great way to ensure privacy when traveling, while also bypassing some other crowded methods of transportation. When you hire a driver, you wont need to worry about a thing between the time you land and the arrival to the cruise port.

Cons: Can be a bit out of budget for some.
