So far, a total of five cruise ships have restarted sailings, with two in the U.S. and three in Europe. So lets take a look at which ships have resumed operations so far.
Ncl Cruise Cancellation Policy
Since January 2016, NCL adjusted the company’s final payment and cancellation policies. Under the new cruise cancellation policy, booked NCL customers will incur penalties further from departure date when canceling.
Before 2016, NCL cruise itineraries 6 days or longer, canceled 56 to 75 days prior to embarkation date guaranteed full deposits back. Under the new cancellation policy, final payment for itineraries 6 or more days is due 90 days prior to departure date . Cancellation penalties start 89 days prior to departure date.
NCL’s cruise deposit schedule also shifted. Previously, for itineraries 6 to 9 nights long, booked customers had to put down a USD 250 pp deposit. After January 2016, that was changed to USD 250 pp for itineraries 7 to 9 days, and USD 100 pp for itineraries 2 to 6 nights long.
Final payments for holiday cruises are now due 120 days prior to departure dates, only excluding cruises on the ship Norwegian Sky.

Norwegian Cruise Line will begin taking bookings today for its newest ship, Norwegian Prima, the first ship in its new Prima Class. This exciting next-generation ship is NCLs first major redesign in nearly ten years. Prima, which means first in Italian, is scheduled toset sail in summer 2022.
In an ambitious six-ship rollout, five additional ships in the same class are planned for launch, one each successive year through 2027. NCL just released details describing some of the enhancements guests can expect in terms of ship design, service and itineraries.
Norwegian Cruise Line Names New Ship Prima Sending It To Port Canaveral
Norwegian Cruise Line is feeling a little Italian. The line is naming the first of six planned ships in a new class Norwegian Prima, and its going to send it to Port Canaveral.
Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the first of what the line has been calling Project Leonardo, and now the Prima class of ships, will debut in 2022, the first new class of ships for the line in 10 years.
Some details about the ships were revealed in 2017, notably their size being dialed back from the 165,300-ton Breakaway Plus class ships like Norwegian Escape. Norwegian Prima and its sister ships will be 140,000-ton, 3,300-passenger vessels.
Not all destinations in the world can handle 4,000-, 5,000-passenger ships effectively. Del Rio said in 2017. So we believe these vessels are the perfect size to deliver the top return on investment for our shareholders while providing the flexibility we need as a company to deploy these vessels throughout the world.
Today, Norwegian announced Primas first year of destinations, including a debut in summer 2022 to sail in Northern Europe and the United Kingdom followed by short sailings from New York, Galveston, Miami and finally homeporting from Port Canaveral beginning Dec. 11, 2022.

Norwegian Encore From Seattle
Norwegian Encore became the first ship in the fleet to restart operations in the U.S. The vessel also resumes NCLs long-awaited Alaska season and joining other major cruise lines operating in the region.
The newest ship in the fleet departed the Port of Seattle on August 7 and the first voyage back included maiden calls as it was the first time the NCL flagship sailed the region. One of the most significant visits was at Icy Strait Point on August 11 when the cruise line opened the new Wilderness Landing Pier. Other calls included and Ketchikan in Alaska.
Norwegian Encore will continue to sail Alaska through October 16, 2021. The cruises are only for guests who are fully vaccinated along with vaccinated crew members.

GALVESTON, Texas Norwegian Cruise Line is bringing its newest ship to Galveston with cruises starting in 2022.
The ship called the Norwegian Prima will begin with two roundtrip western Caribbean voyages from Galveston: a three-day cruise on Oct. 27, 2022, and a four-day cruise on Oct. 31, 2022 — part of the new ships inaugural year sailing bucket-list itineraries, Houston Business Journal reported, citing Norwegian.
Starting in the winter season 2023 and 2024, the ship will homeport out of Galveston, offering seven-day voyages to the western Caribbean out of Galveston. The ship will call to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico Harvest Caye, a private island in Belize and Roatan Island, Honduras.
The ship is 965 feet long, more than 142,000 gross tons and able to accommodate 3,215 guests at double occupancy, according to the cruise line.
The company touted its entertainment options onboard in a news release about the ship, including a three-level go-kart racetrack called Prima Speedway.
The ship will sail on its maiden voyage on Aug. 17, 2022, on an itinerary from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Reykjavik, Iceland, with stops in Zeebrugge, Bergen, and Geiranger in Norway, and Akureyri and Isafjordur in Iceland, according to Cruise Hive.
