Carnival invests 30 million in new cruise terminal for ...

There are seven jetties available for cruise ships in the port of Barcelona. The furthest from the city center are the terminals A, B, C and D, which are located on their own pier, the “Moll Adossat” or the “Muelle Adosado”. Big cruise ships, e.g. the Aida or Carnival berth there.

Three other important quays for passenger ships are the south terminal S , the east terminal E and the north terminal N . These three terminals are grouped around the “World Trade Center” at the Moll Barcelona. This is where smaller cruise ships dock. A striking building on the jetty is the large steel tower of the cable car middle station.

Boarding a cruise ship is similar to checking in at the airport. In front of the moorings are check-in halls where you have to check in with your tickets and drop off your luggage.

At Terminal M – in front of the shopping and leisure center Maremàgnum – no passenger ships dock, especially larger yachts.

How To Get Around Barcelona

There are a number of options for getting around Barcelona. Whilst the city is fairly walkable, some of the attractions, particularly the Sagrada Familia or Park Güell, will take you quite a lot of time to walk to.

With this in mind, we suggest instead that you consider either taking public transport, or using the Hop on Hop off bus service. Our preference would be the latter, as this is designed to get you between all the major attractions in Barcelona, plus from the open top deck you get great views of the city, as well as an audio guide. You can buy your ticket online in advance here.

There’s no lack of things to see and do in Barcelona, even if you’re only in town for the day. The city is small enough that it usually doesn’t take longer than 30 minutes to get anywhere, either by foot, taxi or public transport, and its big enough where you feel like there’s so much to take in, spanning the various corners of town. Whether you’re in the mood for walking or hopping on the metro, there are plenty of attractions close to the cruise port. One of the most famous streets in the world is only a few minutes away. La Rambla, renowned for it’s eccentric street performers and eclectic shopping, starts at the sea, very close to where the ships dock and heads right up to another attraction, Plaza Catalunya. Although it’s about a 25 minute walk from one end to the other, it goes by quickly and is a definite ‘must’, at least once during your visit. On La Rambla itself is La Boqueria, the largest market in the city with a host of fresh foods including fish, meats, cheeses, vegetables, nuts and wine. So even if you only have a few hours to spend, you don’t have to wait by the ship as there are plenty of cool attractions as well as neighborhoods to explore. The Raval and Born are very close to the cruise port, so be sure to take a stroll on Passeig Del Born and Rambla Del Raval.;

From The Drassanes Metro Stop To The Cruise Bus Stop

Barcelona Cruise Port Walk from Cruise Port to La Rambla? MSC Preziosa

It takes approximately 5 minutes to walk from the Drassanes metro stop to the Cruise bus stop.

When exiting the metro, follow the signs on the platform to the Sortida Portal de Sta Madrona exit. After you go through the ticket barriers, you will see a sign pointing to the right with a pictogram of a cruise ship. In my opinion, especially if youre travelling with heavy luggage, its better to turn left towards the Av de les Drassanes exit where there is a lift up to street level.

The lift brings you up in front of the Torre Colon tower .

With your back to the tower you will see the Barcelona Maritime Museum to your right and La Rambla to your left.

Walk towards the Maritime Museum and cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Turn left and walk alongside the museum towards Passeig de Josep Carner. You will now see the Christopher Columbus Monument up ahead.

Keeping the Columbus monument to your left, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and cross the small square next to the old customs building towards the harbour, then turn right.

You will see the cruise bus stop next to the customs building .

Holland America Arrives At What Port In Barcelona

Just trying to get a full map of where to head after we get off the cruise ship… Holland America. Is there just one port in Barcelona that everyone uses?\thanks!

Barcelona has several cruise terminal buildings, some closer than others – best to ask Holland America or your travel agent if you booked through one.

We have docked in Barcelona twice – first time on a small Princess ship we were at the World Trade Centre building and could walk straight off to the Ramblas. The second time, on a larger Princess ship, a shuttle bus was provided from the ship to the World Trade Centre building. So either way, you could probably plan to start your explorations from that area. There was a Tourist Info Centre open both times upon arrival near the World Trade Centre.

If you want to see aerial photos and maps which show the “lay of the land”, you could Google the Port of Barcelona website. You may be able to find your cruise ship on their schedule by date, but it may not say which terminal building will be used.

We have been on HA and to Barcelona three times. Twice we docked near the cruise terminal at the end of La Rambla. The other time it was in a more industrial area south of the city. HA provide a near continuous shuttle service to the Columbus status at end of La Rambia. A little closer than the cruise terminal.
