NBC 6 is airing a story about Caribbean Cruise Line alleging that the company routinely offers essentially “free” cruises via unsolicited phone calls or vouchers in the mail, and deceives the public by not disclosing hidden fees.
It also claims that businessmen behind the scenes at the travel company have been in trouble for deceiving customers before.

The story is a bit confusing because the Caribbean Cruise Line, although technically active with the Florida Department of State, essentially went out of business after the Bahamas Celebration ran aground on October 31st while departing from Freeport, ripping a hole in the hull. In December 2014 it was announced that the newly formed Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line would operate the MS Grand Celebration which would replace the old damaged ship.

Odds and Ends
Grand Celebration offers two night cruises to Freeport, Bahamas from West Palm Beach. However, the ship offers something that no one else does. You can either take the two night cruise, or you can get off the ship when you reach the Bahamas and stay in a resort for a few nights. Once your stay is done at the resort, you take a one night cruise back to West Palm Beach.
There were always loungers available around the ship. The Oasis is an adults only area in the front of the ship that was never more than half full and is the perfect place to kick back and relax.
The ship never seemed crowded and rarely if ever had to wait in line for anything.
The entire inside of the ship is smoke free. Smoking sections are outside on the port side of the ship. Since the casino is also part of a lounge and you have to walk through it to get from one end of the ship to the other, its really nice not having to deal with the stench that come with every other casino on cruise ships.
The value for the amount you pay for your cruise on Grand Celebration is hard to beat. It is perfect for short getaways, birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor/bachelorette parties etc.
Before my cruise, I had someone ask me if I had to attend a timeshare presentation once onboard. Throughout my entire cruise, I didnt see or hear one thing about timeshares, it was just like every other cruise Ive taken .
Overall, I had a great time on board and will gladly cruise again on Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line.

Among the new company’s owners is Kevin Sheehan – former CEO and President of NCLH , who resigned NCL in January 2015. The company’s current CCO is Francis Riley . In 2019, Riley joined Bahamas Paradise as Senior VP of Sales. The company’s CEO is Oneil Khosa .

In mid-November 2020 was unofficially announced that the ship Grand Celebration has been sold for scrap metal . The vessel left Freeport Bahamas on November 15, allegedly heading to India’s Alang Shipbreaking Yard , with estimated arrival on January 3, 2021. On January 2, the 34-years-old liner arrived and anchored off Alang, and on January 14th was beached for scrapping.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line announced today that its Grand Celebration, which returned to the Port of Palm Beach, is set to depart to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island on a humanitarian cruise effort.
Grand Celebration will be loaded with food, water, and other supplies, as well as first responders and volunteers, to help provide aid after Hurricane Dorian ravaged the small island.
Hurricane Dorian, one of the strongest hurricanes in modern records, devastated communities in the Bahamas, with a storm surge as high as 23 feet, and destroying some 13,000 houses in the Grand Bahamas and Abaco Islands.
Grand Celebration will also transport Bahamian residents who were stranded in South Florida due to the hurricane, home at no cost to any volunteer or Bahamian resident. The ships previously planned departure has been canceled.
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, which has operated round-trip cruises from the Port of Palm Beach to Freeport for the past decade, is known for stepping up to the plate during times of crisis.
The company deployed Grand Celebration to St. Thomas in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, working alongside Federal Emergency Management Association to house more than 2,000 first responders for two months after the storm.

Cruisers leave Palm Beach, FL in the early evening, sail overnight, and arrive at Grand Bahamas Island in the morning. Cruisers spend the day on the island and head back to Florida in the evening and arrive the next morning. There are options to extend your stay on the island. Long time cruisers know the MV Grand Celebration well, having been one of the early ships of Carnival Cruise Lines Holiday class, the MV Celebration.
According to guests, they were not offered any refunds and most felt it was necessary to return on the ship the next day. Many guests took to sleeping on the deck due to the extreme heat inside the staterooms and the entertainment venues were also too warm to enjoy.
