The governor of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo has announced that beginning Sunday, February 7, the alert level for the popular destination of Cancun will drop to yellow in a big boost to tourism to the city.
Mexico uses an epidemiological traffic light system to gauge its COVID-19 infection rates, with green being the best, followed by yellow, orange and, finally, red.
Cancun had been at orange. With infections dropping, Gov. Carlos Joaquin said is he willing to drop the level to yellow for a trial run for at least a week, according to the Cancun Sun.
We must remain vigilant, a cautious Joaquin said in making the announcement on Mexicos state-run YouTube channel. Just because we have reached the yellow level, does not mean we cant return to orange. We must continue to take care of ourselves.
Still, its welcome news for Cancuns tourist-driven economy. A yellow designation means hotels can book rooms at an 85 percent rate of capacity. Restaurants, clubs and bars can have outdoor or patio space also filled at 85 percent, with indoor seating limited to 70 percent.
Quintana Roo had been at an orange level for the past two weeks it was just last week that extra government agents were assigned to Cancun to enforce health and sanitation safety measures to try to keep the spread of the virus under control.

Will I Get Seasick
The area we sail in is between the Cancun mainland and Isla Mujeres. This section of ocean is sheltered and usually not rough.
The catamarans design makes it stable and the side-to-side rocking motion you experience with a single hulled boat is virtually non-existent.
From time to time some people do get seasick. If you are susceptible to seasickness we suggest you take Dramamine one hour before we leave and drink a ginger ale.
Also, try to take it easy on the alcohol the night before. These things all help mild to moderate seasickness.

Traveling To Cancun With The Mexico Tourist Card
Passengers must print their tourist card before traveling to Cancun. They will be asked to present it on arrival at the Mexican border together with the passport and if required, a Mexican visa.
One part of the FMM card is kept by immigration officials and the other part is returned to the visitor. This part of the tourist card must be retained as it will be required on departure.
The completed FMM does not guarantee entry, the final decision lies with Mexico border officials.

There are no restrictions or pressure. Do whatever you want to do, as long as it is respectful of others. We usually have many people of both sexes go naked each trip. However, it is not usually the majority.

- Mexican bathrooms have an M on the door for women, not for men. There may also be baskets next to the toilets in some of the areas. This is for your toilet paper, so it does not cause clogs in the system.
