Amount Of Cruise Activities
When it comes to cruise activities, Celebrity Edge offered the full gamut. There were several trivia sessions, game shows, and competitions throughout the voyage. Some favorites were Majority Rules, Yes or No, and the Whisper Challenge.
Plus, there were two speakers onboard offering a variety of Beyond the Podium lectures most days. ;
Dance classes on the pool deck were a regular occurrence. There were even crew vs. cruisers competitions.
Live music was found all over the ship at all times of the day as well. In addition, there was was a different main theater show each evening with two showtimes at 7pm and 9pm.
Now, Adventure of the Seas did have live music at venues like the pub and piano bar most nights. The main theater also offered entertainment with a total of 5 shows and an ice show. However, besides that, it was mostly trivia.
So, we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of activities and events on Celebrity Edge when compared to our sailing just a few weeks prior.

It doesnt. We need to get people back on cruise ships. Thats how were going to be successful in paying back our debt, but our long-term strategy has not changed. We continue to build ships. We are taking delivery of Celebrity Beyond in April 2022 . Our chairman is over visiting the shipyards were all of our ships are being built this week.
Celebrity’s Loyalty Program Captain’s Club
In June 2021, Celebrity updated its “Captain’s Club” loyalty program .

How Has The Pandemic Changed You
Ive learned a lot about being grateful and appreciative for the people that I work with every day to a degree that I probably never would have had the opportunity to do if it were not for this crazy pandemic that weve been living through. Im a pretty hard driver as anyone that knows me will tell you and I know I still have that in me because thats just who I am. But I really tried to think about whats important and whats not important and what to emphasize and what not to worry about emphasizing. Perspective and appreciation has risen to the top of the things that I learned to accentuate that I probably didnt accentuate enough prior to this. And so I think weve all come out of this differently and hopefully better.

In 2018, Celebrity and Canyon Ranch upgraded fleetwide the onboard fitness program by adding more fitness classes and wellness seminars for passengers. Of all classes, 6 are based on different exercise groups – Acupuncture , Conditioning , Longevity, Mindfulness , Nutrition , Sweat .

Kids Not Wearing Masks
Celebrity Cruises has mandated vaccinations for all cruisers over 16 years of age . With that requirement in place, adults did not have to wear face masks on the ship.
We did have to wear masks in the terminal. We also needed to follow regulations of local ports of call, which meant wearing masks in Mexico and the Bahamas.

According to a pre-cruise email, Celebrity Cruises was strongly recommending unvaccinated children wear masks. Honestly, we almost never saw children wearing masks.
This was a bit surprising, as all children on Adventure of the Seas were required to wear face masks. For the most part, children followed this rule on the ship. ;

Complimentary food is included in your cruise pass during your cruise to CocoCay island, but other than that, there arent any independent restaurants on CocoCay. Rum tasting, anyone? The Roatan Rum Company is centrally located near the Roatan lighthouse and offers tours Monday through Saturday. Sample the chocolate rum, the delicious rum cake, and other local delicacies. On your cruise to Roatan, soak in the beautiful view from the top of Rum Point.
Flamingo Cultural Center
The best way to discover the history and community of the island is the Flamingo Cultural Center, which offers educational programming on Garifuna culture, local preservation efforts, responsible tourism, social programs to benefit the local community, and much more. West Bay Beach
On your Roatan, Honduras cruise, hit the beach at West Bay, which is great for families with young kids. Lets Talk A Bit More About Safety And Perception Issues: This Is Just My Own Personal Focus Group But When I Mention This Story To People The Universal Response Has Been That Doesnt Sound Safe Going On A Cruise Is The Last Thing I Would Want To Do Right Now
Listen, Ive been in this business for 36 years and long before COVID, people said Oh, I dont think cruising is for me, so Im not surprised when people say that cruising might not be at the top of their list of vacation choices. But my response to that is being on a Celebrity cruise ship is probably the safest place you can be on the planet right now. So I would take exception to that comment. If Im traveling, or if Im going out to dinner and Im sitting in a crowded restaurant with no social distancing and no requirements for vaccinations and I dont know who Im sitting next to. I would feel much safer on a cruise ship right now then I would just about anywhere else, including traveling on an airplane. So I think that people that say that are mis- or ill-informed.
All Public Venues Were The Same
Surprisingly, all of the public venues were exactly the same during this first cruise on Celebrity Edge as well.
Unlike our sailing on Adventure of the Seas, there were no changes to the seating at any of the public areas. This included the restaurants, bars, and the main theater.
The cruise line did not reserve any seats for social distancing in the theater, and all of the tables were open at restaurants and lounges. In fact, there were several times in the dining room that the table adjacent to us was occupied. Further, individuals could sit at the high tops at all bars.
This is a stark contrast to our cruise on Adventure of the Seas. On that cruise, the capacity was restricted to 25% in the main theater. At bars and restaurants, tables were strategically reserved. Likewise, cruisers could not sit at any of the bars, even the outdoor ones.

Celebrity Parties Were In Full Swing
Cruisers like to have a good time. This means attending the nighttime parties and events.
Sadly, Adventure of the Seas avoided any such activities that would draw crowds. This included Sail Away. None of the popular Royal Caribbean Promenade events like the 70s disco party or the midnight balloon drop occurred during the week-long voyage either.

This was not the case on Celebrity Edge. The party started with a packed Resort Deck Sail Away, complete with a performance by the ships singers and dancers. There was also a White Party on the Pool Deck and two Silent Discos.
With no social distancing guidelines, the cruise line was able to offer these events. It did not appear that cruisers were worried about being in crowded areas, whether they were indoors or outside.
Culture & History Of The Cococay Cruise Port
Previously, the island that is now CocoCay was called Little Stirrup Cay. CocoCay has been privately owned by Royal Caribbean since 1999, when they made substantial updates and renovations to make the island an exclusive getaway for passengers. Today, CocoCay is ever-expanding with even more effort made to build up a cruise terminal, improve infrastructure, and provide even more activities for passengers on their one day stopover on the island.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Where they sail: Regent Seven Seas offers all-inclusive luxury cruises around the globe, which include perks like free airfare, free excursions, and complimentary unlimited drinks on board. The company is also offering free multi-day land extensions before and after sailings for several cruises leaving between October 2021 and March 2022.
Who needs the vaccine: All guests and crew must be fully vaccinated at least two weeks before boarding.
What other safety measures are in place: ;All guests must take a rapid antigen test before boarding. Staterooms will be cleaned with “intensive non-toxic microbial disinfection” each day.

Culture & History Of The Roatan Cruise Port
Originally, Roatan was home to the indigenous Paya, Maya, Lenca, and Jicaque tribes. In the 14th century, Chistopher Colombus sailed to the islands and brought European diseases which devastated the local communities. Pirates and traders were common in the era. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the fishing and tourism industries expanded, and the population boomed as a result.
Roatan Port Facilities & Location
There are two places where your cruise ship may dock: Coxen Hole and Mahogany Bay. At Coxen Hole, youll find a shopping mall and restaurants for a quick bite to eat. Theres an ATM as well as internet access in the area, and its walking distance to other parts of Roatan.
