Azamara is a premium cruise line that has an intimate three ship fleet, each accommodating roughly 700 passengers. The last in the classic fleet, Silver Wind, accommodates fewer than 300 guests and will be upgraded in 2020 with an ice-class hull so she can undertake both expedition and classic cruising, but well just be looking at Silverseas classic cruising for this comparison.
Both lines pride themselves on their top-tier service, with Azamara focussing on professional yet friendly staff that fit the lines club-style atmosphere. On Silversea, you can expect the full white glove experience, with butler service for every guest .
Things are overall a little more laid back on Azamara ships, with no formal nights and formal attire not required . Recommended attire for ladies includes dresses, skirts, pants and blouses, while men will be comfortable in collared shirts and a sports coat if desired .
Not All Drinks Are Included
It’s certainly a luxury to be able to order cappuccinos, sodas, martinis and pina coladas without having to hand over your cruise card to pay. Yet figuring out just which cocktails and liquors are included and which aren’t on Azamara is confusing. If you’re looking for the ease of simply ordering without worrying about price, you’ll want a more inclusive cruise line.
Specialty Dining On Azamara Pursuit
There are a couple of specialty restaurants on Azamara Pursuit which are the same as the sister ships and situated on Deck 10. Aqualina serves Italian style dishes, such as tuna tartare, lobster ravioli or Dover sole with tomato risotto and the decor is elegant and classic with pale leather banquettes and formal table settings. Prime C is the second specialty restaurant, the mirror image of Aqualina and serves steak and seafood, although I didnt get a chance to see the decor as it was in use when we visited. Both restaurants are in high demand and there is a supplement of around $25 per person when you eat there.

Beach Days And Caviar In The Surf
On special days, lines with onboard water toys throw sumptuous beach parties, taking over a beach and reserving it exclusively for their passengers. Activities staffers bring all the water toys to the shore and set up an over-the-top barbecue with steak and lobster and bar service, so passengers can feel like they’re at an exclusive beach resort.

Testing & Screening Requirements
Pre-Arrival Testing
- Country Entry: Travelers arriving from Canada, Japan and USA must provide evidence of a negative result from a PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 that has been conducted within the 72 hours period before your arrival time in Greece. Proof of a negative molecular or antigen swab test is required. Children that are of age 5 and under are exempt from the pre-departure swab test. There currently is no requirement for testing prior to arrival for Israeli citizens. Isolation for 5 days and subsequent testing is required if travelers arrive without proof of a negative test.
- Early Country Entry: If visiting Greece earlier, be sure to comply with the 72-hour time period or a second test may be required prior to boarding.
- Boarding the Ship in Italy: An additional SARS-CoV-2 rapid test will be conducted upon arrival for guests 2 years of age or older.
Terminal Screening
- All guests above the age of 2 will be required to complete a SARS-CoV-2 Rapid test prior to boarding. Azamara will provide tests at the pier and will ensure all guests are pre-registered upon arrival for the test. Results will be provided via email.
- All guest documents, including the pre-arrival Health Questionnaire and a recent negative SARS-CoV-2 rapid polymerase chain reaction test result, will be verified and processed.
- Additionally, proof of vaccination will also be verified and processed.

The Azamara Pursuit Cabins
We checked into our balcony stateroom 6061, our home from home for the two days of the Azamara Pursuit launch festivities. When we last sailed with Azamara Club Cruises in 2015 we were on Azamara Journey and the decor, although luxurious was more classic. Since then all the ships have been re-imagined with a new more contemporary look of restful neutral shades and accents of colour.

As we had expected, our stateroom on Azamara Pursuit felt very luxurious, with soft carpets, gorgeous bedlinen and a cloud-like duvets and pillows. Some of the original dark wood remains but the overall effect is light and airy with an outside seating area on our balcony, which was a lovely place to relax in privacy. Our bathroom was small but perfectly formed, with a small shower with curtain, a moulded basin and lovely Eco-boutique Aloe Vera and Green Tea toiletries.
