Room-service policies vary by cruise line and by your cabin. In some cases, suite passengers have different rules and even get to order delivery from restaurants beyond the room-service menu.
But for passengers without any special privileges, here’s broadly what you can expect:
- Celebrity: This Royal Caribbean-owned cruise line offers free 24/7 room service.
- Disney Cruise Line: The Walt Disney cruise line offers included 24./7 room service with some items coming with an extra fee.
- MSC: This cruise line, which has been growing its U.S. presence, charges a $4.99 delivery to passengers in its basic Bella service tier, while higher tiers get a mix of free and paid options.

Memorable Food Selections At Luminae On The Celebrity Millennium Ship
Dining rooms with limited menus can present challenges for people with special dietary needs or for people who are seeking nutrient-dense food selections. Fortunately, my desire to avoid meat and poultry did not prevent me from experiencing Luminaes creative culinary menu. I was pleasantly surprised by a wide assortment of vegetables.
Creative Chef Starters
Each evening, the chefs starter whetted The Retreat guests appetite. If the item included pork, meat, or poultry, I was unable to partake since only one option was available. Fortunately, this only happened at a handful of dinners. The remainder of the time, I would gladly taste the exciting combination of ingredients, many of which noticeably appear incompatible but turned out to be delicious. Some of my favorites included the watermelon goat cheese flan the cauliflower-white chocolate puree, salmon tartar, green peas, and mint pannacotta with crab salad and the beetroot blue cheese macaron. The caprese martini, another favorite, forced me to put my desire to follow a low-fat dairy diet on hold. Made from burrata, cream, and milk, the Luminae version derived its flavor from a mixture of balsamic vinegar, basil, olive oil, pine nuts, tomato, garlic, micro-greens, and a dash of parmesan cheese.

List Of Cruise Lines Room Service Fees
Carnival Room Service Fees
Mass hysteria among Carnival fans developed when Carnival announced back in 2019 that it would begin to charge a room service fee.
After a quick backtrack, Carnival announced that they were not going to charge for most room service after all, just for certain items. Now its mostly all of them.
Carnival has a pretty awesome complimentary breakfast menu that includes coffee and juice, toasted bagels, white and wheat toast plus cold cereal, danish and even yogurt. For $3.00, you can order a hot breakfast sandwich.
Carnival room service is complimentary from 6:00am to 10:00pm on only certain offerings. But theres a nice selection of hot and cold sandwiches, and a garden or Caesar salad.
For fees that range from $2.00 to $6.00, you can order items like Chicken Tenders, Spicy Fried Firecracker Shrimp, Chicken Quesadilla, Philly Cheesesteak and Pan Pizza.

Carnival Late Night Room Service Fees
From 10:00pm to 6:00am, theres a per item charge for everything on Carnivals late night menu. The menu features the same selection as during the day plus a Portabella & Veggie Bun, a Grilled Cheese, Bacon & Tomato Sandwich, Roast Turkey Wrap and Omelette and French Fries.
For $2.00, you can order their Dark Chocolate Walnut Brownie or a Doughnut Sandwich. Again, like the à la carte daytime menu specialty items, the cost runs between $2.00 and $6.00 per selection.

Can You Use Your Celebrity Drinks Package In The Restaurants
Yes, you can order drinks from your Celebrity Cruises drink packages in the restaurant. Being a wine drinkers we thought we would need an additional wine package. However we drank wine in all of the restaurants we dined in, and just like a package it was kept in a bucket near our table and refilled regularly.
We were also able to order beer and soft drink in the restaurant as part of our package.

We have been carefully watching guest patterns since our restart in July 2021, including food and dining preferences. As a result, we are updating our room service menu to add more options on an à la carte basis, while maintaining a complimentary breakfast offering each morning. These changes are consistent with trends across the industry, and also provide us opportunities to continue to work toward meeting our various sustainability goals, including food, water, and energy reduction, while still giving our guests the option of 24/7 room service if they so choose.
Basically, the room-service menu will be expanded, but customers will pay for the privilege. Carnival charges per item prices vary but they’re generally $2 to $6 per item. The cruise line has not shared a menu or any pricing info about its expanded menu.
Effective with all cruises departing on or after October 1, 2022, we will be rolling out the expanded room service menu across our fleet. In addition to the complimentary breakfast selections, we will be adding choices that reflect what we believe will meet more guest preferences.
Everything ordered outside the 6 a.m.-10 a.m. window will come with an added cost.
In addition to the room-service change, Carnival has also brought back another guest-favorite meal option.
Where Can I Get Drinks Packages On Celebrity Cruises
The best time to purchase your drinks packages is online before you cruise. Additionally, keep an eye out for special offers as Celebrity do send out email offers occasionally. However you can also purchase a package or upgrade your package at any bar whilst on board.
On our last cruise I booked the Classic Drinks Package but was unsure if I would prefer the Premium Drinks Package. The classic did not have Pellegrino included, and I was worried I may not like the wine.
Eventually I made the decision that I would upgrade should I feel the need to once onboard. I am glad I made this decision, as the Classic Drinks package on Celebrity Cruises was perfectly fine. There was canned soda water which was a great alternative sparkling water and the wine was lovely.

Oceanview Cabins On Celebrity Ships
Oceanview cabins on Celebrity ships come in at between 170 and 242 square feet, depending on the ship and type.
True to their name, these rooms offer views of the ocean from windows that don’t open, so although there are no in-cabin ocean breezes, there is natural light.
They include all of the basic amenities listed above.
Suites On Celebrity Ships
There are 10 types of suites on Celebrity’s ships, four of which Sky Suites, Celebrity Suites, Royal Suites and Penthouse Suites appear on every single ship in the fleet. Two more Edge Villas and Iconic Suites are found only on Edge-class vessels. Another two, Signature Suites and Reflection Suites, are exclusive to Celebrity Reflection, and the remaining Sunset Suites and AquaClass Suites are new to the fleet with the debut of Celebrity Beyond.
Passengers booked in any of the suites in this category have access to the exclusive suites-only lounge and pool deck, known as The Retreat, as well as dining in suite-access-only restaurant Luminae.

Cruisers in these accommodations also receive a slew of perks, including higher-level Wi-Fi and drink packages onboard credit prepaid gratuities free in-room bottles of alcohol complimentary laundry, shoeshine, butler and concierge services and priority embarkation and tendering, among other draws.

Celebrity Select Dining Anytime
Celebrity Select Dining Anytime, on the other hand, is ideal for travelers who want a little more flexibility in their evening schedules. You may want to stay at the pool for longer, lounge at the adults-only Solarium, or unwind in your stateroom after a full day in port before going out for dinner. With Celebrity Select Dining Anytime, you can choose your dining time anytime between 6pm and 9:30pm.
Celebrity Select Early, Late, and Anytime all feature the same mouthwatering menus, and theres no cost difference ultimately, the choice depends on how you like to travel.
Note that only a certain number of guests can choose Celebrity Select Dining Anytime per sailing. Typically, Anytime is available on a first-come, first-served basis, particularly for passengers who book their cruise early.
In Summary: Where We Landed Between Dcl And Celebrity
Loyalty doesnt pay at least not in picking cruise lines. To this day I dont have a single favorite line, and I dont think there is a best cruise line, because its just too subjective, and there are too many considerations. If were going on a cruise with friends that have kids, we might sail based on their preferences, or if were looking for a specific itinerary, that might drive us. This is why well keep sailing Disney Cruise Line, and Holland America, MSC, Oceania, Royal Caribbean, NCL, Celebrity, and others. In fact, I can rattle off which lines I think have the best food, music, activities, and more but its a balance, and for more and more of our trips, Celebrity strikes that balance. The experienced and awesome folks at TouringPlans travel are great about understanding your vacation goals, so you can strike that balance, too.
Cruising in and of itself can be so wonderful, and many of us will enjoy any line we sail, so its easy to forget that there are other lines than the one youre enjoying now. Whatever your preference, just know there is a whole world of cruising options out there and they all have something to offer. My worst day at sea is better than my best day on land, and some of the best days at sea have been spent on cruises Id never have taken if I didnt try other lines and get a new fantastic point of view.

If youre a regular cruise passenger and a lover of fine dining youre bound to be thrilled by Celebrity Cruises latest offering. The line has unveiled its new and exclusive Suite Class restaurant, Luminae.
Set to debut this coming April, the luxury restaurant will be open to Suite Class guests, providing them with a dining experience like no other.
Luminae combines a modern, eclectic mix of high-quality cuisine, offering passengers breakfast, lunch and dinner at no additional cost.
Each item on the menu will be featured only once during a two-week sailing, with every dish bound to set everyones taste buds alight.
Upscale dishes will include caviar, cote de boeuf and black truffle risotto. Signature plates will be prepared before guests very own eyes, with gourmet chocolates and a desserts cart presented every night.
Each menu will also provide suggested wines that will complement each dish.
John Suley, James Beard award-nominated chef for Celebrity Cruises, said: Everything about Luminae embodies an inspirational culinary journey for our guests. Every menu has been precisely designed with our guests varied palates in mind.

More Changes On The Way
Besides the changes weve seen over the last months and weeks from Carnival, such as cutting back on a wide range of dining services, venues, and operating times, which the company announced back in August, there are some more changes to come.
First of all, Carnival Cruise Line is finally bringing back the always-popular Dr. Seuss Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast. As with the room service menu changes, this event will return on October 1.
The Dr. Seuss Green Eggs & Ham Breakfast allows kids and those young-at-heart to enjoy a fantastical feast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends, brightly colored fruit, gravity-defying pancake stacks, funky french toast, Moose Juice n Goose Juice, and much more.
Lastly, Carnival is also implementing a price hike for the onboard WIFI packages. Due to the rising costs of internet connections at sea, the company has implemented a minor price change. How minor the price hike would be is unclear. However, purchases made before the price change effective on October 1st will be at the current rates.
Unfortunately, Carnival Cruise Line has not yet announced if they would move to SpaceXs Starlink Maritime internet service, providing a much more stable and inexpensive connection while onboard.
