Celebrity Summit Bermuda Cruise Review
This was our 16th cruise, but our first Celebrity Cruise. We had heard many positives about Celebrity and were excited to finally have the opportunity to sail on the Summit. We had hoped to try one of the larger, newer Celebrity Ships, but this one fit our preferred travel dates and destinations, so it worked! I should mention, that we have sailed to Bermuda a couple times before and we just love Bermuda. I could go every year and never have enough. If you are considering Bermuda, Book It!!
First let me say that we loved this cruise! It will be an honest review with some pros and cons, as well as filled with a few tips for ship and itinerary but I can tell you right now that I highly recommend the Celebrity Summit as a fabulous Bermuda cruise!

- You will find that Celebrity Cruises attracts a diverse range of cruise travelers. Most of the onboard activities are designed to appeal to people in their mid-30s to 50 years old. A number of programs onboard also attract the interests of children and teens. More families choose to sail on Celebrity during school vacations, or during the summer months. The longer voyages attract people who are older, or who have retired. Be advised that children who are younger than one year old cannot sail on trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic, or South American cruises, or any cruise that requires 3+ days consecutively at sea. Otherwise, for all other cruise schedules, passengers must be at least 6 months old. Passengers must be at least 21 years old for any voyage leaving North America, or 18 years old for cruises traveling from Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and New Zealand. The cruise line is happy to assist passengers with special medical needs. More Inclusive Celebrity Cruising
Celebrity Cruises recently announced that they will be rolling the cost of wifi, drinks, and gratuities into the cruise fare. In an email to travel partners in November, the line said We know planning most cruises can be complicated. But, were not most cruises were Celebrity Cruises. Thats why now, when you book any cruise, anywhere, in any stateroom, we include drinks, Wi-Fi, and tips with your vacation. Its that simple.
Celebrity is still not completely inclusive, as it doesnt include extras like specialty dining, but this seemingly permanent move is a step in that direction.
Note that this more inclusive structure does not apply to Galapagos Islands sailings.

Royal Naval Dockyard has something for everyonefrom adventure to relaxation. At Least Five Cruise Calls To Bermuda Canceled
Bermudas testing and entry requirements remain in place for now, and, as a result, at least two cruise lines have decided to cancel calls to the island later this year. Celebrity Cruises canceled four cruise calls, and Norwegian Cruise Line canceled one call.
So far, the canceled calls include Celebrity Beyond, scheduled for October 22, Celebrity Silhouette, for October 30-31, Celebrity Edge, for November 4, Norwegian Sun, for November 5 and Celebrity Reflection, for November 10.
Celebrity Cruises stated to Cruise Hive,We will no longer visit Bermuda on four transatlantic sailings. We will continue to visit Bermuda with other itineraries where the island is the first port of call and doesnt trigger the additional testing requirement.
All these calls were scheduled during the transatlantic crossings the vessels will undertake while repositioning from Europe to North America. These five calls are only a small part of the many cruise ships calling to the island.
Whether or not there will be more cancelations is to be seen in the upcoming days and weeks. So far, Bermuda only requires onboard testing for ships that take longer than four days to arrive in Bermuda after departure from their homeport.
Testing must take place within two days prior to arrival, something that is well within reach for ships sailing from the United States.

Bermudas Regulations Clash With Cruise Industry Protocols
Its no secret that the cruise industry has been lobbying the Bermuda government to drop or at least ease the regulations it has in place for visitors to the island. However, so far, it has shown little result.
Besides the testing requirement, those that wish to visit Bermuda are still required to fill in the Travel Authorisation Form, which costs $40. John Heald, the Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador, reported in May of this year that negotiations were ongoing to do away with this form:
We, as an industry, and its not just us, its every cruise line, we have been working with the Bermudan government to try and negotiate away from this actual fee,Heald said, but its not been something that the industry has been successful in.
Bermuda did implement some easement on its protocols in the last month. Since August 22, 2022, unvaccinated travelers are able to visit Bermuda again.
Whether the move by Celebrity and Norwegian will be followed by other cruise lines remains to be seen.
So far, Oceania, Viking, and Azamara still have calls scheduled to Bermuda during their transatlantic voyages later this year, however, with three unconfirmed cancelations, these could very well be the ships in question.
Canada And New England
For the first time, Celebrity will be offering 10, 11, and 12-night sailings from Boston to some of the best cities and destinations in New England and Canada.
These fall foliage cruises are scheduled from the end of August to early October, and include an overnight in either Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island or Quebec City. Itineraries also include visits to Nova Scotia and to Maines coastal gems, Portland and Bar Harbor.

Norwegian And Celebrity Cancel Bermuda Calls Over Testing Requirements
Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises cancel calls to Bermuda in October and November over testing requirements.
At least five cruise ship calls to Bermuda have been canceled by both Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises due to the testing requirements the island has in place.
Three more calls by cruise ships are unofficially called off, but these cancellations have not been confirmed yet.
The cancellations do not come as a surprise. Already in May of this year, the cruise industry requested changes by the Bermuda government to testing and entry requirements, which so far have not been pushed through.
