Celebrity Cruises Cancellation Policy

Due to the CDC’s no-sail order and the cruise industry’s voluntary cessation of operations, many cruise lines have temporarily loosened their cancellation and refund guidelines to help passengers feel more comfortable booking.

Celebrity’s Cruise With Confidence program allows travelers booked by January 31, 2021, to cancel their paid-in-full reservations within any of the below penalty phases, up to 48 hours prior to the scheduled start of their trip. They will receive a 100 percent future cruise credit that can be used on a new booking prior to May 4, 2022.

Additionally, the Cruise With Confidence program protects any discounts or promotions under which passengers originally booked, as long as they use their FCC to rebook the same cruise for next year, in the same cabin type, by January 31, 2021. This also applies to Alaska cruisetours.

For standard bookings during normal operations, reference the below cancellation and refund schedule. For certain cancellations and changes, fees will apply in the form of a percentage of the total amount paid. The grid shows the portion of the total payment amount you will forfeit if you cancel within each corresponding timeframe. Any refunds will be issued to the credit card used for cruise fare payment.

Expect New Tech And Tweaked Systems

Those who cruise regularly will be familiar with the muster drill, a safety exercise that usually requires passengers to gather in a cramped muster station and watch a safety demonstration that takes 30 minutes or more. One passenger described the process as miserable.

This week, Celebrity debuted its new e-muster system, which allows passengers to take a tutorial on their electronic devices, showing them how to wear life vests and familiarizing them with the sound of emergency signals. Once on board, passengers simply walk to their designated muster area and are given a small sticker to put on their room card to show that they have completed the process.

Upon embarkation, guests were allowed to go straight to their rooms. All the rooms were stocked with hand sanitizer and face masks, and were disinfected each day.

All the ships amenities, including the gym, spa, casino and theater, were open and fully functioning, though the ship was operating with about a third of its normal passengers. To cut down on contact, rooms can be unlocked using Celebritys app on your phone and all restaurants, activities and shore excursions can be booked through the app.

Face masks were not required for cruise guests because of the vaccination requirement, but the crew was expected to wear them while on duty, a rule that will be reviewed after the inaugural sailing.

Both PCR and antigen Covid tests were complimentary and available onboard.

What Happens If Celebrity Cancels My Cruise

Passengers on canceled sailings will automatically receive a future cruise credit equal to 125 percent of the cruise fare paid, to be used by December 31, 2021, for the booking of another cruise. Passengers wishing to request a refund instead of a FCC can do so on Celebritys website through December 31, 2021.

Getting vaccinated prevents severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. Unvaccinated people should get vaccinated and continue masking until they are fully vaccinated. With the Delta variant, this is more urgent than ever. CDC has updated guidance for fully vaccinated people based on new evidence on the Delta variant.

While cruising will always pose some risk of COVID-19 transmission, CDC is committed to working with cruise ship operators to ensure that cruise ship passenger operations are conducted in a way that reduces the risk of COVID-19 transmission among crew members, passengers, and port personnel.

With the exception of cruise ships operating in Florida, all cruise ships operating in U.S. waters, or seeking to operate in U.S. waters, must comply with the requirements of the CDC Framework for Conditional Sailing Order and Technical Instructions, even when outside of U.S. waters.

Note: As of July 23, 2021, the CSO and accompanying measures, such as technical instructions, are currently nonbinding recommendations for cruise ships arriving in, located within, or departing from a port in Florida. However, CDC will continue to operate the CSO as a voluntary program for such ships should they choose to follow the CSO measures on a voluntary basis.

Celebrity Ceo Says ‘public Ready To Cruise’ As Line Announces North American Voyages

She called the vaccines “key” in allowing an end to the year-long cruise hiatus.

Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises will resume in June

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises announced Friday they are resuming North America cruises in June with ships sailing out of the Bahamas and St. Maarten. The CEOs of the cruise lines referred to vaccines as “key” and a “game changer” in allowing them to end the cruise lines’ yearlong halt of operations amid the pandemic.

In order to board these ships, all adults, including the crew, will be required to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination. Children will be allowed to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours.

Celebrity CEO and President Lisa Lutoff-Perlo told ABC News in an exclusive interview that the company is still finalizing what the onboard COVID protocols will look like in June, but that the “cruising of tomorrow doesn’t look any different than the cruising of today.”

“One of the things that our guests had told us is when they come back they don’t want their experience to be awkward,” Lutoff-Perlo told ABC News Transportation Correspondent Gio Benitez. “They want to do the things they remember doing, and that was another reason why we really wanted to be prudent about when and how we started up. We do not want the experience to be compromised in a way that lessens the pleasure of our guests.”

Shore Excursions Differ From Port To Port

EMBARKATION DAY – CELEBRITY REFLECTION! FIRST SAILING IN 600 DAYS! | CRUISE VLOG NOV 2021 – DAY 1

Usually when a cruise ship makes a port stop, guests can participate in excursions organized by the cruise company or are free to explore the destination independently for an allotted time.

Coronavirus restrictions in Barbados, the first port of call, meant that passengers were only allowed to participate in bubble excursions designed to limit interactions with the local population.

There were several options, including tours of the island and its white sand beaches, but the most popular excursion was a catamaran voyage that involved swimming with sea turtles.

Masks were required when passengers disembarked from the ship to take a bus to the catamaran. The catamaran moored not far from shore to allow passengers to swim, but they were repeatedly told not to swim to the beach.

I would not usually choose to take a shore excursion, and it feels strange to be restricted, said Harvey Freid, a guest from Miami. I like to get off and visit local restaurants, try the food, meet local people and check out the casino. But what can you do? This isnt so bad, he said.

In the second port of call, Aruba, guests were free to travel by themselves and many leapt at the opportunity.

Its really cool to arrive in a new place by cruise ship and get off again and walk around like we used to, said Marni Turner, 52, a longtime cruiser from Florida. But its weird to have to put on the mask again and worry about Covid. It feels much safer and comfortable on board.

Are My Other Travel Arrangements Refundable

If you’ve booked your airfare though the Flights by Celebrity program, whether or not you receive a refund will depend on the type of ticket you purchased. Nonrefundable fares will not receive a refund, but changes can be made , and flight vouchers can be issued at the discretion of the airline. Refunds and changes are possible with other fare types.

For flights and hotels booked independently, you’ll need to contact your airline, hotel, independent tour provider or travel agent to inquire about cancellation policies, change fees and refunds.

We recommend that all prospective cruisers purchase travel insurance for each leg of their trip. Protecting your bookings with a policy that includes “cancel for any reason” coverage could allow you to recoup more of your money if the amounts aren’t fully refundable through your cruise line, airline, shore excursion provider or hotel in the vent you wish to cancel — even if the only reason is simply because you don’t feel like going.

Contact a travel agent or insurance provider for more information, and be sure to read the fine print before purchasing a policy.

Do I Have To Wait Until I Am Onboard To Pick My Restaurants

One of the biggest benefits of Celebrity Select Plus Dining is the ability to make dinner reservations at the four above mentioned restaurants pre-cruise. You do not need to wait until you are on the ship to decide when and where to eat each night of your cruise.

You can pre-book your reservations before the cruise or while onboard the ship using the Celebrity Cruises App. We booked all four restaurants ahead of time with no problems.

Keep in mind, if you have traditional dining, you will be assigned to one of these four restaurants for the duration of the cruise.

What Is The Service Like With Celebrity Select Dining Plus

Fabulous! We were concerned that service would suffer with this dining option. However, we are happy to report that we had excellent service at every restaurant. Even though we had a different crew every night, the staff was friendly and attentive.

Our meals were mostly well-timed, with courses well spaced out. Further, the menu items were always delivered at the appropriate temperatures. Kudos to Celebrity Cruises for trying something new and making it work right out of the gate!

  • On 7 March, two crew members of Regal Princess were tested and the docking of the ship at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US, was delayed for about a day while waiting for test results. • On 10 May 2020, a 39-year-old female Ukrainian crew member of Regal Princess died after going overboard from the ship while it was docked in Rotterdam. One source stated that she had committed suicide, and that she had been scheduled to be repatriated on a charter flight which was subsequently cancelled. She was reportedly distraught and last seen crying aboard the ship.
  • Royal Princess: As a crew member from Grand Princess had transferred to Royal Princess fifteen days earlier, the CDC issued a “no-sail order” for Royal Princess on 8 March 2020, prompting Princess Cruises to cancel the ship’s seven-day cruise to Mexico before it departed Los Angeles.
  • Vasco da Gama:
  • The cruise ship docked in Fremantle in late March 2020. Almost 100 New Zealand passengers were flown from Perth on 29 March and arrived in Auckland on 30 March. What Are The Dining Options On Celebrity Edge

Like most cruise ships, Celebrity Edge offers cruisers Traditional Dining with an early and late seating. Cruisers will be sat at the same table in the same restaurant with the same wait staff for the duration of the cruise.

If you prefer something more flexible, there is the new Celebrity Select Dining Plus. This option offers cruisers the ability to dine at any of the four main dining rooms at various times each night of the cruise. This means you can pick your restaurant and time, but you will not have the same wait staff or table.

This is essentially the same as Select Dining on Millennium or Solstice Class, except there is the added option of four main dining rooms.

    Youll Meet Some Happy Guests

After a frustrating year of booking multiple cruises only to have them canceled or postponed, many of the guests were elated to be back on a ship, even though they were not entirely sure what to expect.

Weve cruised about 28 times on all different varieties of ship, but with this crazy virus we didnt know how this would look and feel, so we wanted to try it out and see if we felt safe, said Squirrel Simpson, 68, an avid cruiser from Myrtle Beach, S.C., who was sitting with her husband at the pool bar sipping a mimosa.

Her verdict: This is just incredible, it just feels like we are back in before pandemic times and we are alive again. Interacting with people without masks, eating in restaurants, seeing shows. Its a dream.

Yet, Ms. Simpson found the emptiness of the boat surreal and said she missed the buzz of lots of passengers on board.

Normally, youd have to come out here at 7 a.m. and youd be lucky if you could find an empty chair to put your towel on, but now you have so much choice, she said, pointing at the empty rows of deck chairs around the pool area.

Michelle Lewis, 56, and Chad Curtis, 34, a couple from Orange County in California, sat smiling at one another as they celebrated the first night of their honeymoon at the ships upscale Tuscan Grill restaurant.

They winced at the suggestion that they were guinea pigs testing out a series of health and safety protocols.

I dont feel like a guinea pig, I feel like a pioneer, Ms. Lewis said, laughing.
