New Disney Private Island?
With the announcement of three new ships, DCL will be increasing its fleet from four to seven total ships on the seas.
This will put extra stress and demand on the crowning experience of Disney’s Caribbean itineraries: Castaway Cay.
As such, Disney has been rumored to be scouring the Bahamas in search of “new Castaway Cay” to purchase. This would add a new Disney private island as a destination where its expanded fleet can take its passengers for a magical beach diversion.
Disney Cruise Line has officially put forth a proposal to develop the area of Lighthouse Point, Eleuthera in the Bahamas Initially, there was a group that actively campaigned against the development of Lighthouse Point.
DCL’s proposal to develop 746-acres to build a cruise port was tentatively approved in October 2018.
Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line, said Disney looks “forward to working with government and the people of the Bahamas to create new economic opportunities while preserving the natural beauty of Lighthouse Point.”

Instead of constructing a new private island, Disney Cruise Line appears to have decided to purchase expansive property on an existing Bahamian island, Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera, to build a new “escape experience” similar to Castaway Cay.

How Much Does A Disney Cruise Cost
Magic aint cheap, and Disney cruises are expensive. They arent the priciest voyages out there, but they will cost more than family-friendly competitors such as Royal Caribbean by a noticeable margin.
For a family of four, the cheapest Disney cruise currently available in 2021 or 2022 is just over $2,000 but both of the cheapest options are for two-night cruises on the West Coast. The cheapest price for a family of four on a three-night cruise from Port Canaveral to Nassau and Castaway Cay in an inside stateroom is currently about $2,500. An ocean view will add about $70 and a verandah will add about $200.
On these shortest cruises, concierge-level staterooms and access start at about $5,000 for a family of four.
Those sorts of prices will only be available during the offseason, such as in mid- to late January and early February. That same cruise during spring break can cost double, so the more date flexibility you have, the better.
A seven-night cruise, such as one going from Cape Canaveral to the Western Caribbean, or from San Diego to the Mexican Riviera, will likely start around $5,000 for a family of four. Expect Alaska and European cruises to start at $5,000 to $6,000 for inside cabins for a week, and go up in price for longer sailings and upgraded staterooms.

Eligibility For Ship Color Status
The color-coding system is only applicable to cruise ships operating or planning to operate in U.S. waters. Status of ships is dependent upon daily submission of the Enhanced Data Collection during COVID-19 Pandemic form.
CDC has confirmed that the ships listed in the table;below; are operating under health and safety protocols that align with CDCs standards for protecting passengers, crew, port personnel, and communities by mitigating the public health risks posed by COVID-19. Gray-designated ships may have their own COVID-19 health and safety protocols, which CDC has not reviewed or confirmed.
When a cruise ship operating under the CSO notifies CDC of suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 on board, CDC determines whether an investigation is needed, based on a predetermined investigation threshold. This investigation threshold gives CDC and the cruise industry the ability to work closely together to protect the health and safety of those on board and in communities.

What To Know As Disney Cruise Line Targets Aug 9 Restart In The Us
Disney Cruise Line will resume sailing from Florida on the Disney Dream beginning Aug. 9, 2021.
The 2,500-passenger vessel will sail a series of four- and three-night Bahamian voyages from Port Canaveral with two stops at Castaway Cay, and has dropped Nassau for the time being.
Meanwhile, come end of August, the Dreams sister ship, the Disney Fantasy, will still be sailing its simulated cruises, of which there will be two.
On Aug. 26, the ship will sail a three-night Bahamian test cruise from Port Canaveral, visiting Nassau and Castaway Cay and on Aug. 29, the Fantasy will embark on a four-night Western Caribbean cruise visiting Cozumel and Castaway Cay.
The Disney Fantasy is expected to start its revenue voyages on Sept. 4 from Port Canaveral, sailing seven-night itineraries with visits to Tortola, St. Thomas and Disneys Castaway Cay. ;
While Disney will not be requiring proof of vaccination for its sailings out of Florida, non-vaccinated passengers will be subjected to a pre-embarkation PCR test and a $65 antigen test at the port .
Additionally, non-vaccinated guests over 12 years old sailing from Florida before Dec. 31, 2021, will have to provide proof of a valid travel insurance policy.
Guests aged two and older will be required to wear a face covering on the ship and at terminals, except for some designated areas and situations .
The Disney Cruise Line Navigator mobile app can be used by guests to help with communication with crew and virtual queueing.
Edge Tween Club For Children Aged 1114
When your kid outgrows the fun in the main kid club, dont worry, Edge is waiting just upstairs. Technically, Edge is for kids 11-14, but you can get your 10-year-old in with permission and once they figure that out, its probably all over for the little kid club.
Edge is a much smaller space, but tweens have tons of fun here playing video games, having dance parties, doing crafts, playing trivia games, etc., with their newfound cruise friends.
This club does not utilize parent sign-in and -out, so you need to trust your kid if they are coming to Edge.

Disney Wish & New Ships
At the 2017 D23 Expo, Disney Cruise Line announced that they will be adding three new ships to their fleet. The new ships will be added in 2022, 2023, and 2024 respectively, and will all be the same size; roughly 135,000 gross tons, hosting around 1,250 guest staterooms. The three new ships will also be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas, but size and fuel are where the similarities end. Each vessel will have individual one-of-a-kind experiences. The first of the new ships has been named the Disney Wish and will begin welcoming guests in 2022.
Disney Wish Staterooms Include Some That Are Two Stories Or Above The Bridge
Unique artwork inspired by “Cinderella” and other Disney classics adorn;the staterooms, and;900 of 1,254;staterooms will be connected;adjoining, making this ship the most family-friendly;of the Disney fleet.
The rooms are larger, and most;have an ocean view.
And for the first time, a Disney ship features two-story suites with spiral staircases and;custom stained-glass art.
And, in another first, the Disney Wish will feature rooms above the bridge of the ship.

News: Three More Disney Cruise Ships Coming
Rumors are swirling that Disney Cruise Line will be adding three MORE new vessels.
These new ships will be in addition to the four ships already in operation and the three currently being built by Meyer Werft .
The Maritime Executive reports:
The three new ships will be powered by LNG and, at approximately 144,000 gross tons and 1,250 guest staterooms, will be slightly larger than the;Disney Dream;and;Disney Fantasy. Expected delivery dates for the new vessels have not yet been made public.

Disney Cruise Drink Of The Day
The Disney Cruise Drink of the Day is not a package, but we wanted to include it so that you get an overview of the available drinks. The Disney Cruise Drink of the Day is priced at a very reasonable $5.46 for the alcoholic cocktails which include a 15% gratuity.
There is always a non-alcoholic drink of the day which is priced at $4.89 including tax and gratuity. Note that tax is only charged if you order the drinks whilst you are in port. If you are out at sea this is not added.
The drinks of the day do vary but include Caribbean Dream, High Tide, Key Lime Margarita, Mai Tai, Paradise Cocktail, Pineapple Mojito, Stingray, and Yellow Bird.
Non-alcoholic drinks of the day include Lava Smoothie, Mango Crush, Mint Tea Punch, Parrot Song, Passion Cream Freeze, Princess Delight and Purple Basil Lemonade.
All of the Drinks of the Day are available in a souvenir cup for an extra charge. We usually get at least one of these as they make a nice souvenir to take home with you.
Disney Cruise Line Fleet
While it may be a household name, Disney Cruise Line is actually a very small line. It currently has just four ships actively in the fleet, compared to 26 over at Royal Caribbean.
Out of the four, there are two smaller ships and two larger ones.
The largest two ships in Disneys fleet are the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, at 1,115 feet in length and 14 decks high. These two ships have a passenger capacity of 4,000 people spread out across 1,250 staterooms. The overwhelming majority of cabins on these ships have an ocean view or verandah with only 12% being interior staterooms .
The Dream is a workhorse of short three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas, home to Disneys private island, Castaway Cay. The Fantasy also normally calls Port Canaveral home but does various longer Caribbean sailings.
The smaller two ships in the Disney Cruise Line lineup are the Disney Wonder and the original ship in the fleet, the Disney Magic. These two ships are 984 feet long and 11 decks high, and each has the capacity for 2,713 passengers across 875 staterooms. On these two smaller ships, 70% of passenger cabins have ocean views or verandahs.
Disneys Wonder and Magic usually get around a bit more than the larger two ships. Depending on the time of year, you might find the Wonder sailing out of places such as Galveston, Texas; New Orleans; California; or Alaska. The Magic can often be found in Miami, New York, Canada and Europe.

Carnival Cruise Line currently has 26 cruise ships, with at least four more being added to the fleet in the next 5 years.; The 3rd Vista class ship, Carnival Panorama, is scheduled to be completed in 2019.

Disney Signature Experiences Unit
Soon after a March 2018 conglomerate wide reorganization that formed Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment division, Disney Cruise Line and New Vacation Operations was renamed Disney Signature Experiences along with a new president, Jeff Vahle.
Disney Cruise Line purchased in early March 2019 another Bahamas destination, Lighthouse Point property on the island of Eleuthera from the Bahamas Government. The cruise line was looking for another Bahamas location since the announcement of the third ship expansion in 2016.
In February 2020, Disney Wonder moved its home port to New Orleans. From March 14 until further notice, Disney Cruise Line ships have suspended operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sailings resumed in July 2021 in the form of “Staycation Cruises”, closed loop cruises of 2 to 4 nights from the United Kingdom ports of Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle, and Tilbury for London.
The Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy entered service in January 2011 and March 2012, respectively. These ships were built at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. These new 129,690-ton ships are 339.5;m long and 36.8;m wide. They are two decks taller than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder and have 1,250 staterooms each. The Disney Dream was the first ship to have a water coaster.

New Vacation Operation Unit
In February 2009, Tom McAlpin left the Disney Cruise Line presidency and was replaced by Karl Holz as president of Disney Cruise Line and New Vacation Operations. In early 2009, Disney and Canaveral Port Authority extended their agreement to 2022 with expansion to the terminal to handle the new class of ships. A re-posting of the Disney Magic to Europe in 2010 adding DCL’s first North European cruises with Mediterranean cruises.
With the arrival of Disney Dream in 2011, Disney Wonder was relocated to Los Angeles. With the arrival of Disney Fantasy in 2012, Disney Magic was relocated to New York City in May 2012 for only the Summer season, before relocating to Galveston, Texas.
In late 2012, Disney Wonder began sailing cruises out of Miami, Florida, respectively. In 2013, the Disney Magic relocated to Barcelona, Spain and the Disney Wonder relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia. for the summer season. In Autumn 2013, the Magic and the Wonder returned to the United States but switched home ports, with the Magic leaving out of Miami and the Wonder leaving out of Galveston. In January 2014, the Wonder took over for the Magic in Miami and the Magic joined the Dream and Fantasy in Port Canaveral, placing all four ships in the state of Florida for the first time. Since then, the Magic and the Wonder have once again switched places.

Disneys 23-year-old cruising arm, Disney Cruise Line, only operates four vessels a small fraction of the number youll find in the fleets of cruisings best-known brands. The worlds two biggest cruise lines, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line, by comparison, have 25 and 24 ships in their fleets, respectively. MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line have 18 and 17 ships, respectively.

What this means if youre thinking about going on a Disney cruise is that its relatively easy to get a handle on your ship options much easier than it is at a line like Royal Caribbean.
At first blush, you only have to figure out the differences between four different ships. But, in fact, its even easier than that. While Disney has four ships in its fleet, the four vessels can be bunched into just two groups of two similar vessels. If you know one member of the group, you know them both.
