Cruise Ship Set To Leave New Jersey On Monday After Passengers Test Negative For Coronavirus

Cape Liberty, New Jersey, is a new port named Bayonne that offers wonderful views of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. With New York being just a ten-minute drive away most cruise passengers head for the world-class museums, big statues, and even bigger buildings of the Big Apple. However, close to port there is the city of Hoboken that is not only the birthplace of Frank Sinatra, but is also great for pedestrians with its shops and restaurants, an easy walk from the train and ferry terminals. Before too long it is to become a flashy terminal with an aquarium and some delightful parks.)

Nights In The Eastern Caribbean

Celebrity Cruises 6 night trip aboard the Celebrity Summit offers a particularly intimate and enjoyable vacation. The Celebrity Summit cruise from New Jersey is one of Celebrity Cruises cozier ships, carrying only a little over 2,000 passengers and departs from Cape Liberty Port in Bayonne. What it lacks in room it makes up for in entertainment and activities. The Celebrity Summit actually acts as a sort of testing ground for Celebrity Cruises out of New Jersey latest and greatest offerings, which includes new dining menus and entertainment programs. So even for those who have been aboard the Summit before, there is always something new and fun to try aboard the ship on your next visit. This is also one of Celebrity Cruises cheaper offerings, particularly if you book your cruise during the winter which, although its technically the off season, is actually when the Caribbean has some of its best, most enjoyable weather.

Distance From The Caribbean

Considering that themajority of the cruises leaving from New Jersey sail to the Caribbean, itsvery far away from your most likely cruise destination. That means that youlleither have to take a very long cruise, which costs a lot more, or youll haveto be satisfied with spending very little time in your destination, and themajority of the cruise spent on the ship, at sea.

Cruise ships are fullof entertainment and dining options, so thats not such a terrible thing. Butwhen you pay for a Caribbean cruise, you might want to spend more than one daythere. Especially if you live in the northeast and youre cruising to theCaribbean to get away from the dreary winter weather.

In contrast, thecruise ports in Florida and along the Gulf Coast are very close to theirCaribbean or Bahamian destinations, and youll get to spend a lot more timeactually enjoying the tropical beaches. Yes, youll have to fly down there toboard the cruise, but it just might be worth it.

Views Of New York City

Celebrity Summit cruise ship sails to Bermuda from Cape ...

No, you wont be inNew York City. But you will get incredible views of the skyline. And, if youreso inclined, Manhattan and Hoboken are both a quick cab ride away. You couldeasily spend some time being a tourist before your cruise if you dont live inthe area. Or you could just enjoy the view.

A lot of people haveno desire to visit NYC. Whether they dislike crowds or just arent that intobig cities, there are plenty of reasons why being in the city might beunpleasant for some people. That would make taking a cruise out of Brooklyn abit of a nightmare.

To do that youd haveto get a hotel in the city, which can be a nightmare itself. Cruising out ofNew Jersey gives you lots of places you can stay that arent in New York, butyoull still get to see it from a distance. For some of us, thats the best wayto see. Plus, as your ship departs, youll be cruising past NYC.

Per guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control cruise lines can resume after testing their COVID-19 safety protocols. This has occurred at other US ports including Florida and Texas where some cruising has already resumed.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Set Sail From Cape Liberty Again The Oasis Of The Seas Has Resumed Weekly Cruises To The Bahamas

Royal Caribbean has resumed cruises out of the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne.

The first ship sailed out of Bayonne on Sept. 5. Cruises out of the port had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, weekly offerings are again available for booking. Seven-night cruises on the Oasis of the Seas are offered out of the port from now until the end of October.

The company announced its schedule for its remaining ships to return to sailing in early August, including the Oasis. All other ships are set to resume sailing by 2022, following Royal Caribbeans relaunch of cruises in Asia, Europe and other parts of the United States.

Prior to setting sail from Cape Liberty, the Oasis had to complete a simulated cruise in late August. After it finished the voyage on Sept. 3, Royal Caribbean announced the Oasis had received the green light from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to set sail regularly again.

Since the start of the Coronavirus emergency in 2020, the cruise ship industry and public agencies have developed procedures to respond to any health emergencies that might arise on ships at sea, Bayonne Mayor James Davis said. Protocols are in place that would kick in for illnesses that might develop on vessels that ship in and out of the Cape Liberty Cruise Port.

Where can I eat near the Cape Liberty Cruise Port?

Although there are no restaurants near the port, the nearby city of Newark has every restaurant and type of food imaginable. Additionally, there is a food truck with coffee, bagels, and other delicious bites outside the entrance of the cruise terminal, which is convenient for those departing on cruises from New Jersey.

Whats the culture & history of the Cape Liberty cruise port?

Conveniently located in Lower New York Harbor, the Cape Liberty Cruise Port was originally created by private developers in 1930 who intended it for industrial use. However, the ideal location and sheer size of the port made it an ideal candidate for use by the U.S. Navy in WWII. The peninsula upon which the port sits off the eastern end of Bayonne Bay is man-made. In 2003, the BLRA and Royal Caribbean International announced their agreement to turn the 430-acre port into a cruise terminal, and in 2013 Royal Caribbean International built a brand new, sleek, and innovative cruise terminal featuring LED lighting and modern design.

Where can I go shopping near the port?

Since the cruise port sits on a peninsula off the mainland, there are no shopping options in proximity to the port, besides a kiosk with basic essentials in the cruise terminal. About a 20-minute drive from the port, guests can find TJ Maxx and Walmart for last-minute cruise essentials.
