Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, they typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports-of-call, where passengers may go on tours known as “shore excursions”. They can carry thousands of passengers in a single trip, and are some of the largest ships in the world by gross tonnage , bigger than many cargo ships. Cruise ships started to exceed ocean liners in size and capacity in the mid-1990s before then, few were more than 50,000 GT. In the two decades between 1988 and 2009, the largest cruise ships grew a third longer , almost doubled their widths , doubled the total passengers , and tripled in volume . Understanding Cruise Ship Classes
Cruise lines are large companies that manage a fleet of ships. Some of the worlds largest cruise lines have dozens of ships.
Each cruise line has its own style. However, even within a brand, there are different dining options, entertainment options, and onboard amenities between ships.
It would take you hours to research each ship individually. Not to mention, Norwegian Cruise Line is just one of many cruise lines.
Hence, its important to note that each cruise line offers different groups of ships. These classes of cruise ships are of similar size and design. Further, they often feature similar amenities and venues.
While there might be slight differences between ships within a class, these sister ships are largely identical.
Norwegian Cruise Line currently has five classes of ships in addition to a few ships in a class of their own. The brand is also expected to debut a series of ships in the new Leonardo Class beginning in 2022.

What You Need To Do To Access Small Claims Court
This is a complicated process but your state court website should have all the information you need. You have to start by sending an official demand letter to the Norwegian Cruise Line headquarters office. This can be a very simple letter where you just explain what the problem is and how you want them to fix it. If they dont acknowledge that and they dont fix the problem then you have to visit your state court website to find out what form do you have to fill out, fill them out, file them with the courthouse, pay the courthouse fees, and then send Norwegian Cruise Line another piece of mail informing them that because they didnt respond you are now suing them. Finally, you will be given a court date and you have to attend to that hearing and present your case.

What Norwegian Cruise Line Could Improve
Thats not to say that the cruise line is perfect. While we havent sailed every ship in the fleet, there is a big difference between the newest ships and older ships weve seen . Your impression of the line may vary based on whether you sail an older ship or the newer fleet.
What wed like to see improved is pricing of things on the ship. Norwegian seems to price at a premium, which means the costs you see can be higher than what youd find on rival lines, especially with drink packages.
As well, there are charges for many things to do on the ships , which wed like to see reduced or eliminated altogether.

The Passenger Vessel Services Act And How It Affects Cruises
The related law that has a real effect on the cruise industry since the cargo of a cruise ship is you is the Passenger Vessel Services Act of 1886, which is applicable even though it was enacted before the cruise industry existed as we know it.
The law says that if an itinerary begins and ends in a U.S. port, foreign-flagged cruise lines must call on foreign ports of call as well. As a result of these laws, you wont find, for example, itineraries on foreign-flagged ships that sail round-trip from Los Angeles to the Hawaiian Islands or from New York up and down the U.S. East Coast without also stopping in another country . These rules impact sailings to Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, Panama Canal, Hawaii and Alaska the most.
Cruise lines create PVSA-compliant itineraries, but sometimes the chaos of travel intervenes. If a passenger disembarks early without calling on the foreign port, the line risks getting fined. Cruise travelers who miss the ship are also not allowed to embark in just any port of call. They must board in a place in the itinerary that includes a foreign port as part of the remaining portion of the cruise.
Related: What happens if you miss your cruise
Heres where it gets tricky: A cruise that begins and ends in the same U.S. port will not violate the PVSA if it stops in any foreign port. However, a cruise that begins and ends in different U.S. ports must stop in a distant foreign port to be in compliance.

Although the ship was in the making for some time prior to the pandemic, one striking design element is the innovative use of exterior deck space, which will encourage guests to spend more time outdoors and come closer to the sea. The new class significantly increases the amount of deck space, outdoor walkways and open-air experiences available to guests.
- Ocean Boulevard, a 44,000-square-foot reimagined outdoor living concept located on Deck 8, will allow passengers to walk around the entire perimeter without obstruction. Two Oceanwalk glass bridges will offer a surreal feeling of walking on water.
