What Is The Best Cruise To Italy

Don't Miss

Best Comprehensive Tour: 10

Top 10 Places & Things To Do In Italy | Ultimate Italy Travel Guide

This extensive tour begins and ends in the bustling city of Rome, and visits many of Italys most exciting and vibrant cities over the course of ten days. Combining guided excursions with ample free time, it allows travelers plenty of freedom while taking the guesswork out of planning an itinerary. Excursions include visits to the charming hilltop town of Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis, a food-focused visit to the beautiful city of Bologna and the small winemaking town of Montepulciano. It also stops at Vatican City, Pompeii, the island of Capri, and so much more. Overnight stays in three- and four-star hotels in Rome, Florence, Venice, and Sorrento are included in the tours price, as is a comfortable transport coach, many meals, and entrance fees to several museums and archaeological sights.

Sunny Days Cooler Temperatures

Temperatures in the Mediterranean drop as leaves fall, making autumn days ideal for sightseeing. Cities like Rome will be cooler, making a walk around town squares much more pleasant compared to the summer months. Onboard, the mild temperatures make for a much smoother and more comfortable cruising experience overall.

Scala Dei Turchi Sicily

Scala dei Turchi, Sicily

One of Italys beaches that seems utterly unique is the Scala dei Turchi in Sicily, a stunning, sloping cliff made of white marl and limestone.

Its name translates as stair of the Turks and can be credited to invading Turks, who used to anchor in the bay. Meanwhile, the stair element refers to the remarkably fluid topography that makes this place so appealing. Like a wall of sculpted meringue, sun worshippers gather on the various ledges of this gently sloping spot that offers far-reaching views along the coast.

Theres a sizeable sandy beach adjoining the cliff, although its possible to plunge into the warm ocean from the cliff itself, too. With the remarkable juxtaposition of the gleaming, snow-white rock and the azure waters, the Scala dei Turchi truly is a must-see beach. Youll find it on the south coast of Sicily, just west of Porto Empedocle.

Amazing Views Of The Amalfi Coast And Capri

14 Best Places to Visit in Italy – Travel Guide

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in a private boat tour of the Amalfi Coast and Capri. Our captain was Fulvio and we were upgraded to the Itama 48, which felt very spacious for our group of 4 adults. The captain worked with us to decide our schedule for the day, and he made some great recommendations. He found perfect swimming spots whenever we decided we would like to swim. There was plenty of champagne, beer, water, and soda all day. We saw many other group tours while we were out but I was so glad we had a private boat. It was so relaxing and luxurious! It was well worth the money spent and if we ever return to the Amalfi Coast I would book through Amalfi Sails again in a heart beat.

Choosing An Italy Cruise

Amalfi Italy mountain water landform outdoor Sea landmark ...

Cruises around Italy vary from massive ships visiting a few principal tourist sights, to high-class options using smaller vessels and calling in at interesting smaller destinations, often with particular historic or artistic themes, and with knowledgeable experts – sometimes the leaders in their field – aboard. Obviously the latter option, while appealing, can be extremely expensive.

Do you want a cruise dedicated entirely, or almost entirely to Italy? Or a cruise which combines Italy with other parts of the Mediterranean? Are you happy to visit the principal tourist sights, or do you want to visit less common destinations for a more in-depth experience of Italy? Are you tempted by a specialist cruise focussing on particular aspects of history or culture? Many cruise lines split the Mediterranean into sections, and operate cruises around a particular section – this is unlucky for Italy-lovers, as Italy gets divided in two. The western coast of Italy is usually combined with France, Spain, and the western Mediterranean. Venice, on the eastern coast, is usually a departure point or stopover for cruises touring the Adriatic and Greece. While this practice make geographic sense and both options are appealing, it’s not so convenient if you want to do a thoroughly Italian cruise.

Footprint-free white-sand beaches in tiny coves and cities that are living museums, cruises to the Mediterranean are as diverse as they are dreamy. The region covers nearly one million square miles, with western itineraries docking in Gibraltar, Spain, France, Italy and exotic Morocco, while eastern itineraries encompass the Greek islands, Turkey, Cyprus and Israel. The choice of cruise lines is equally wide, ranging from tranquil, elegant vessels akin to private yachts to huge, action-packed ships where families are guaranteed a welcome as warm as the Mediterranean sun.

Minori Beach Amalfi Coast

Minori Beach, Amalfi Coast

Minori is the rough diamond of the Amalfi Coastless self-conscious than its neighbors, and more relaxed for it. Amid its labyrinth of lemon-yellow, peach, and ice white homes, youll find a rich heritage of top-quality gastronomy. The towns famed scialatielli pasta, once hung out to dry in floured ribbons in the piazzas, is a must-try with local seafood, while the former King of Panettone pastry chef Sal de Riso has a shop and cafe overlooking the sea.

After youve gorged on pastries infused with Amalfi lemons, rest upon the south-facing Minori Beach. Its a shorter stretch of sand than Maiori, but with enough space for you, the fishing boats, and the holidaying Italians that appreciate Minoris more laid-back, authentic vibe. As the sun begins to set, join the locals for their daily walk along the pine and palm-lined boardwalk or up the towns short pier.
