Holland America To Resume Seattle To Alaska Cruises July 2021

SEATTLE Holland America announced it will resume roundtrip cruises from Seattle to Alaska in July.
The cruise line made the decision following recent CDC guidance and the passage of the Alaska Tourism Restoration Act in the House and Senate. The act still must be signed into law by President Biden. The law allows cruise ships to travel between Alaska and Washington state.
The company is beginning the return-to-cruising preparation process immediately. The cruise line is still waiting for approval of cruise plans under the Passenger Vessel Services Act and final instructions from the CDC, according to the release.
The cruise line will offer ten Saturday departures between July 24 and Oct. 2.

Princess Cruises presidentJan Swartz and Holland America Line president Gus Antorcha spoke about thepositive multidimensional impact the resumption of cruising means to Seattle,the local community and Alaska.
Holland America Line kickedoff its Alaska season with Nieuw Amsterdam sailing 24 July, and PrincessCruises followed with Majestic Princess sailing 25 July.
Each line will operate 10cruises sailing out of Seattle through September. First Alaska Revenue Cruise Departs From Seattle

The first, large foreign-flag cruise ship departed yesterday, July 19, for Alaska signaling the return of the cruise industry to the Port of Seattle and Alaska. Royal Caribbean Internationals cruise ship the Serenade of the Seas kicked off the abbreviated Alaska cruise season with the first departure by a large cruise ship to Alaska since September 2019.
“Cruising in Alaska is finally back, and we are excited to be the first to return, said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. Alaska is one of the most popular destinations among our guests. We are grateful for the support of our partners, senators. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, and other government and health authorities. This is a return that is significantly felt by many, including those whose communities rely on cruise tourism.”
While smaller, American cruise ships had resumed the Alaska cruise season in May, the return of the large, foreign-flag ships required a special act of the U.S. Congress to waive American cabotage laws. Initially thought to be a long shot, the legislation passed due to the critical nature of tourism to Alaskas economy and the prospects of businesses having to forgo the second season of tourism after Canada announced its ports would be closed to cruise ships during the 2021 season.

Who Offers This Excursion?Holland America and Princess are the only two companies that offer this Alaska cruise excursion in Seattle and its Bon Appétit recommended.
As you may have guessed, Pike Place Market is one of Seattles best attractions, and a great spot to grab a bite or try a few new flavors. This particular tour is a three-hour guided tour of the Market, including stops at nine different vendors to taste and samples their wares.
While I love this particular cruise excursion, it ends up at the end of my list only because of how few companies offer it just two. That said, if you love food and are cruising with Holland or Princess, this is a great option!

If your Alaska cruise includes your first trip to Seattle, the Grand City Tour is a great add-on excursion before or after your time on the ship. Not all of the cruise companies call it by this name some just mention the sights youll see or call it something like The Best of Seattle.
Which sights make the cut? On the 4-6 hour tour, youll visit and see:

The itineraries might vary a little from company to company. But they almost all include all of these sights as well as a short cruise along the Seattle Waterfront and into Lake Union. They also offer variations whether you need a transfer to the airport, your ship, or your hotel and accessible options.
I assume that this is the most popular Alaska cruise excursion in Seattle and for good reason. Many of these made my list of Seattle bucket list experiences, so this tour is a great option to tick a few of those off!

Located close to the cruise terminal, its easily accessible to anyone staying downtown. Other Vancouver must-visit attractions include the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Gastown, Grouse Mountain, and Granville Island.
While both cities offer excellent restaurants, Vancouver has more international choices, primarily due to the Asian population. So, if you love raw sushi, Thai curry, or dim sum, Vancouver wins hands down.
Although travelers find Vancouver, Canada, an expensive city, non-Canadians may benefit from the dollar exchange. Many people visit Vancouver from Australia to take an Alaska cruise and enjoy the city.
