A Traditional Lobster Bake On Prince Edward Island

For more than 150 years lobstering has been an important mainstay of rural Prince Edward Island where life ebbs and flows with the lobster season. Traditionally the first day of the season is an island-wide event when the community comes out to cheer the lobstermen as they head out to sea with their traps. When traps are pulled with lobsters inside, the celebration continues at traditional lobster bakes known as Ceilidh and pronounced kaylee, a delectable feast of locally grown culinary fare. Enjoy this special feast during a picnic lunch in a riverside setting when you are exploring the island’s many storied charms.

The Best Time To Take A Cruise To Canada And New England

The cruise season for Canada and New England is from May to October, with August to October being the peak season when the beauty of nature comes out in the brilliant hues of fall. While families tend to book cruises during the summer months, fall is more popular among solo travelers and couples.

It is prudent to remember that temperatures during May, June, and October are low in these places, especially at night. If you are looking for warmer days and nights, plan your cruise vacation any time from July to August.

The best time to cruise Canada and New England also depends on the activities that you have in mind. One of the most popular activities is whale spotting which varies based on the location. For instance, you will be able to spy whales along with Labrador and Newfoundland from June to early August while July and September are the months for whale spotting in the Bay of Fundy. On the other hand, if you want to see seals in their natural habitat along the coast of Prince Edward Island, plan your cruise for the summer months.

This said, most cruise lines operate the maximum voyages for Canada and New England in the fall to cater to the adult crowd. Nonetheless, you should be able to find itineraries for summer and spring.
