Expect New Tech And Tweaked Systems
Those who cruise regularly will be familiar with the muster drill, a safety exercise that usually requires passengers to gather in a cramped muster station and watch a safety demonstration that takes 30 minutes or more. One passenger described the process as miserable.
This week, Celebrity debuted its new e-muster system, which allows passengers to take a tutorial on their electronic devices, showing them how to wear life vests and familiarizing them with the sound of emergency signals. Once on board, passengers simply walk to their designated muster area and are given a small sticker to put on their room card to show that they have completed the process.
Upon embarkation, guests were allowed to go straight to their rooms. All the rooms were stocked with hand sanitizer and face masks, and were disinfected each day.
All the ships amenities, including the gym, spa, casino and theater, were open and fully functioning, though the ship was operating with about a third of its normal passengers. To cut down on contact, rooms can be unlocked using Celebritys app on your phone and all restaurants, activities and shore excursions can be booked through the app.
Face masks were not required for cruise guests because of the vaccination requirement, but the crew was expected to wear them while on duty, a rule that will be reviewed after the inaugural sailing.
Both PCR and antigen Covid tests were complimentary and available onboard.
Chill Out At The Pool
Of course, no cruise would be complete without some pool time! And, on Celebrity Equinox, theres no shortage of lounge chairs and space poolside. Youll find the pools and hot tubs on Deck 12 and additional lounge chairs on Deck 14, overlooking the main pool. Throughout the day, enjoy live music, line dancing and poolside games. Sitting in my Stateroom trying to watch TV but yet again the server has gone down!!!Im on a U.K. cruise on Silhouette and the service, food and cleanliness on the ship is impeccable especially given the Covid situation. 5 stars!However, all the people doing those jobs are from Philippines, India, China etc and they work bloody hard.On the other hand no TV and having cruised around 40 plus cruises their Loyalty programme has now completely disappeared. Apart from a robe and a bag of washing! With the introduction of all inclusive the the free drinks and WiFi are now worthless and the ship has also become a no go area for people not travelling in a suite or Aqua class cabin.What a pity the people from Philippines etc arent running the company!!!No reason for me to select Celebrity going forward.Steve

Someone Might Test Positive It Shouldnt Ruin The Cruise
Routine testing has turned up positive covid cases on a few sailings so far which cruise operators have expected. Their goal is to make sure a couple of cases dont become an outbreak that would force a cruise to end early. So far, the efforts have been successful.
Mellen was on Adventure of the Seas in June when two unvaccinated children tested positive one asymptomatic and one with mild symptoms and had to be flown home. The captain announced the cases and thats all we heard about it, she said. Everyone 16 and older was required to be vaccinated on that sailing.
Nobody was like, Oh no, she said. We know the protocols work, we saw it in action, and we just went on with the rest of our cruise.
Mellen said she is glad she is able to explain to customers how the situation was handled after experiencing it herself.
McDaniel was also on a cruise when two vaccinated passengers tested positive during an end-of-cruise test. Those who had come into close contact with those passengers had to be isolated while they awaited extra testing, but no one else ended up infected on the sailing, which also required anyone 16 and older to be vaccinated.
It didnt really disrupt that vacation, she said. No one was locked down for an exceptionally long period of time.

Solstice is beautiful with the friendliest, most caring, attentive and helpful crew ever experienced. The food is good, the live shows are first class entertainment- best ever!
