Final Thoughts: Norwegian Cruise Lines Free At Sea Perks
I have sailed with and without a package,and definitely thought the Ultimate Beverage Package was worth it. I drink more than 100$ p/p for a 7 night cruise, even when I am being careful. Plus, the drinks on Norwegian were great and they didnt skimp anywhere.
I do wish that specialty coffees were included as I love to have a nice cappuccino after dinner and this would have been a plus if it was included. Conclusion still totally worth it.

Second Norwegian Cruise Ship Going All
Norwegian Cruise Line has announced an enhanced summer 2018 deployment schedule to Alaska and the Caribbean that includes a second cruise ship offering all-inclusive cruises to the Bahamas and Cuba.
Norwegian Sun will reposition to Port Canaveral and offer all-inclusive four day cruises to Havana, Cuba and Key West, and three-day cruises to the Bahamas in 2018. Currently, Norwegian Sky is the only Norwegian cruise ship to offer all-inclusive cruises. Norwegian Jewel will rejoin the youngest fleet sailing to Alaska in summer 2018, with a multitude of exciting itineraries including seven- and nine-day sailings from Seattle, Seward and Vancouver.
Norwegian Sun will undergo a two-and-a-half week dry dock in Victoria, British Columbia as a part of the Norwegian Edge, the brands revitalization program encompassing the entire guest experience, and re-enter service on April 19, 2018 where she will begin her journey to the east coast with a 17-day Panama Canal cruise departing from Seattle.
Norwegian Suns three-day cruises to the Bahamas will feature calls in Nassau** and Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegians popular private island beach paradise that was recently enhanced with new food and beverage outlets, expanded Cabanas for daily rental and a new underwater snorkeling garden.

Is The Norwegian Cruise Lines Free At Sea Really Free
Some of Norwegian Cruise Lines Free at Sea perks are truly free while some are not.
In terms of the Free Open Bar, guests will still need to pay gratuity on this free perk. The 20% service charge for a 7-day cruise will cost each guest $138.60 for the Premium Beverage package. The Soda Package gratuity is $1.59 per person, per day. This gratuity is added to the total cruise fare at the time of booking.
While this is a great value, it is still a considerable amount to pay for a free perk. Thus, you can choose to opt out of the drink package if offered all 5 perks, or you could choose 2 alternate perks instead. This would also be true for guests who do not drink alcoholic beverages.
Further, if you enjoy specialty coffee or want bottled water, you will have to pay extra to upgrade to the Premium Plus beverage package.
Similarly, guests are responsible for paying gratuity on the specialty dining package as well. This 20% service charge is $15.80 per package for 6-8 day cruises. This does not include any additional tips that you would like to provide to your waitstaff.
In terms of the free shore excursions, the $50 credit per stateroom will not cover much. So, you will likely need to pay extra to cover the costs of shore excursions. Of course, if you planned on booking shore excursions anyway, this is free money. Although, if you are booking them just to utilize the credit, it will likely cost you extra.

The number of perks that cruisers receive does vary based on the current sale and the stateroom category booked. Usually, guests receive up to 5 free perks with this sale, which is valued at up to $2,900. Occasionally, there are up to 6 perks if airfare is part of the current promotion.
For example, Norwegian Cruise Lines Free at Sea has recently offered guests who book Studio, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony, or Club Balcony Suite rooms the ability to choose 2 free perks. It used to be that years ago, cruising was truly an all-inclusive experience. You paid one cruise fare, and everything on board food, drinks, sodas, etc. was available at no extra charge. While you can still enjoy that kind of experience on some smaller, upscale cruise lines , for the most part, the cruise industry actually beat the airlines to a la carte pricing. Sodas, bottled water, beer, wine, cappuccinos all of it costs extra, which causes a fair amount of irritation among cruisers, especially those new to cruising who dont necessarily know what to expect.
Over the weekend, Norwegian Cruise Line announced a blast from the past, so to speak the opportunity to add an all-inclusive package to most 2015 sailings of 14 days or less. All-inclusive in this case means the following perks in addition to the basic cruise package:
- Ultimate Dining Package
- 20 Photos, any size
- Chocolate covered strawberries
Prices begin at $459 for 3-5 day cruises, $799 per person for 6-8 day cruises, and $1,049 per person for 9-14 day cruises. NCL claims over $2,400 in value by adding on the package. Interestingly enough, the package is refundable up to the day of sailing, so if you buy it and decide later you dont want it, or if you cancel your cruise before penalties start kicking in, you can get a do-over.

Tipping Policy On Norwegian Cruises
Effective April 1, 2018:Norwegians discretionary daily service charges make it easy for guests to provide gratuities to key onboard staff who provide superior guest service during the cruise, including their room steward, restaurant servers and behind-the-scenes support staff.
The new rates for all ships:
- $14.50 per person per day for any category up to a Mini-Suite Stateroom.
- $17.50 per person per day for any suite or Haven category.
Any guest that has made a booking by March 31, 2018 will have the option of prepaying their service charges at the current rate if done prior to sail date. Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already pre-paid their service charges at the current rate are not affected. Guest satisfaction is the highest priority at Norwegian Cruise Line. We have structured a guest satisfaction program designed to handle any concerns about service or on-board product quickly and efficiently. However, in the event a service issue should arise during your cruise please let NCL’s on-board reception desk staff know right away, so that NCL can address these in a timely manner. It is NCL’s goal to reach a satisfactory solution to any issue when it happens and make sure NCL’s guests can focus on enjoying their cruise. Should your concerns not be met with satisfaction you can adjust the charges.
Soft Drinks And Juices For Children And Adolescents Included
Guests 220 years will enjoy unlimited soft drinks, water and juices in all bars, in all lounges and restaurants during the entire cruise. 20% gratuity included.
