Striking Deere Workers Approve A New Contract On The Third Try
About 10,000 workers at the agriculture equipment maker Deere & Company will go back to work after the approval of a contract on Wednesday, bringing to an end a five-week strike that affected 14 facilities primarily in Iowa and Illinois.
The six-year contract was ratified, 61 percent to 39 percent, after workers voted down two earlier agreements between the United Automobile Workers and the company, which is known for its distinctive green-and-yellow John Deere products. The new contract raises wages and includes language that makes the companys performance pay more generous.
Our members courageous willingness to strike in order to attain a better standard of living and a more secure retirement resulted in a groundbreaking contract and sets a new standard for workers not only within the U.A.W. but throughout the country, Chuck Browning, the director of the unions agricultural equipment department, said in a statement.
John C. May, Deeres chairman and chief executive, said in a statement: Im pleased our highly skilled employees are back to work building and supporting the industry-leading products which make our customers more profitable and sustainable.
Under the agreement, workers can earn 20 percent beyond their base pay when they hit productivity targets, rather than 15 percent, according to a union spokesman.

These rooms are larger than most, and feature 1 or 2 porthole windows. Rooms on lower decks are closest to the restaurants and nightclubs. Upper decks have more expansive views. Relax in classic maritime style within an environment that offers generous room to spread out and unwind. Watch television and first-run movies in a seating area that includes a handsomely upholstered couch and a sleek and sturdy desk. When its time for sleep, a luxurious bed awaits, shielded from the activities in other parts of the room by a convenient privacy curtain. Disney Cruise Line Fleet
While it may be a household name, Disney Cruise Line is actually a very small line. It currently has just four ships actively in the fleet, compared to 26 over at Royal Caribbean.
Out of the four, there are two smaller ships and two larger ones.
The largest two ships in Disneys fleet are the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy, at 1,115 feet in length and 14 decks high. These two ships have a passenger capacity of 4,000 people spread out across 1,250 staterooms. The overwhelming majority of cabins on these ships have an ocean view or verandah with only 12% being interior staterooms .
The Dream is a workhorse of short three- and four-night sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida, to the Bahamas, home to Disneys private island, Castaway Cay. The Fantasy also normally calls Port Canaveral home but does various longer Caribbean sailings.
The smaller two ships in the Disney Cruise Line lineup are the Disney Wonder and the original ship in the fleet, the Disney Magic. These two ships are 984 feet long and 11 decks high, and each has the capacity for 2,713 passengers across 875 staterooms. On these two smaller ships, 70% of passenger cabins have ocean views or verandahs.
Disneys Wonder and Magic usually get around a bit more than the larger two ships. Depending on the time of year, you might find the Wonder sailing out of places such as Galveston, Texas New Orleans California or Alaska. The Magic can often be found in Miami, New York, Canada and Europe.

Transportation And Parking At The Cruise Ports
Disneys bus transfers to and from the port are convenient, but also pretty expensive, especially for a family:
Disneys transfers must be booked a minimum of 3 days before the start of the trip through your travel agent . At the airports, a Disney rep will be at the baggage claim area to help direct guests to the bus. Your luggage will go directly to your stateroom you just need take your day bag with you to the cruise terminal.
One down side of using the Disney bus system is that you will arrive at the port with a big group of people and at a time dictated by Disney. The result is often a long wait in the check-in lines. You may also miss lunch on the ship, since the buses tend to arrive in the afternoon.

The Prosecutions Case Against Elizabeth Holmes The Theranos Founder
In the first 11 weeks of the trial of Elizabeth Holmes, who founded of the blood-testing start-up Theranos, jurors have heard from only about 25 witnesses in proceedings that have been mired by delays, including a coronavirus scare, a broken water main and technical issues.
Despite the interruptions, the trial has pressed forward. Jurors are being asked to decide whether Ms. Holmes, 37, misled investors by appealing to their egos and withholding crucial information or whether investors simply failed to do their due diligence, ignoring red flags as they poured money into the Silicon Valley start-up.
Ms. Holmes has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors have said they are likely to rest their case against her this week.
