The World’s Largest Cruise Ship Has Joined Royal Caribbean’s Fleet See Inside The Wonder Of The Seas

What It’s Really Like On The World’s Largest Cruise Ship
  • Royal Caribbean has welcomed the world’s largest cruise ship, the new Wonder of the Seas.

  • The 1,188-foot long cruise ship set sail for the first time on Friday.

  • Take a look around the ship, which can accommodate almost 6,990 guests and 2,300 crew.

Cruising just got a bit bigger: Royal Caribbean’s newest and largest ship, the Wonder of the Seas, officially set sail last Friday.

Royal Caribbean began constructing the Wonder of the Seas, now the world’s largest cruise ship, in France in 2019. And after three years of waiting, the mammoth vessel has finally hit the seas.

The 210-foot wide behemoth is the cruise line’s newest “Oasis” class ship, Royal Caribbean’s segment of the “world’s largest cruise ships,” according to the cruise line.

All of this space can accommodate nearly 6,990 guests and 2,300 crew across its 18 decks.

If you’ve been waiting three years to sail on the giant ship, your patience has finally paid off. On Friday, the Wonder of the Seas officially embarked on its inaugural voyage.

It’s now operating five-to-seven-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean. These itineraries will continue through April until the behemoth vessel heads to Europe in May for summer Mediterranean itineraries.

And in November, it’ll return to the US for more Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida.

Think of the Wonder of the Seas as a floating community with eight distinct “neighborhoods” that all have their own flairs, amenities, and entertainment options.

Top 10 Largest Cruise Ships In 2021

By MI News Network | In: Know More | Last Updated on August 25, 2021

The international cruise industry has expanded rapidly in the last few years, and it showed no signs of slowing down till the coronavirus pandemic hit the world.

The world witnessed what was never thought of, i.e. complete halt of the cruise business. However, the cruise shipping companies are doing everything in their power to sustain these tough times, and the industry is expected to come back at the earliest with some of the largest and most technologically advanced cruise ships in the year 2021.

As more new ships enter the scene, the industry is more equipped to offer the best vacation experiences to its guests across the world.

In order to meet the various preferences of travellers, the new technologically advanced cruise ships come in bigger sizes, with better amenities, and indeed, as luxurious, they can be.

Here we have a list of the worlds largest cruise ships, ranked in terms of their gross tonnage and passenger capacity, among others in 2021.

Thoughts After Cruising On The Largest Cruise Ship Ever Wonder Of The Seas

Royal Caribbeans newest ship, Wonder of the Seas, is the largest cruise ship ever built and the cruise lines fifth Oasis class vessel. The ship is six times larger than the Titanic and carries up to 9,300 passengers and crew members.I recently had the opportunity to sail on the maiden voyage as guest of Royal Caribbean to check out everything that this new cruise ship has to offer. What is on the worlds largest cruise ship? A few things that youll find on this ship are:

  • Eight different neighborhoods
  • Pool deck with waterslides and three pools
  • Park with real trees and plants
  • Robot bartenders
  • Bar that rises three decks
  • Casino

What were my initial thoughts after walking off the ship at the end of the week? This just might be the perfect cruise ship for families and for those who want the mega cruise experience.

Here are my thoughts and review of Wonder of the Seas, the worlds largest cruise ship.

Embarkation/Debarkation This is one area where Royal Caribbean really stands out from other cruise lines. Embarkation was a total breeze, even though over 4,000 passengers were boarding the ship that day. Since I had an early flight into FLL, I arrived a bit early at the terminal. Because of that, there was maybe a 10 minute wait after checking in before I could board Wonder of the Seas.

As long as you complete the check-in process through Royal Caribbeans App, you should breeze right through embarkation.

The Allure Of The Seas

Allure of the Seas

The Allure of the Seas is an Oasis-class cruise ship that was built by STX Europe for Royal Caribbean International. It was ordered in February 2006. The construction began at the STX Europe shipyards in Turku, Finland. It was launched in 2009 but was declared as complete and delivered on 28 October 2010. At the time of its launch in November 2009, it was the largest passenger ship surpassing the Oasis of the Seas.

The ship is equipped with telescoping funnels so that it can pass under bridges like Storebælt Bridge. It is 1,187 ft tall and has a gross tonnage of 225,282. The famous Anglo-Italian muralist Clarissa Parish decorated vast parts of its interiors.

The Allure of the Seas was fitted with 80 kW solar energy by the Miami based photovoltaic system installer BAM Energy Group. The total installation cost amounted to $600,000. The 2000 m2 area is laminated by Uni-Solar BIVP to hold strong against the 5,400 pair of feet.

Top 10 Biggest Ships In The World

Huge seafaring vessels have long been one of the most impressive things on the water. They carry our goods, protect our countries and provide days of extravagant vacations.

Most of the ships on this list are bulk carriers that transport goods or crude oil, and for good reason. Its cheaper for companies to move a large number of items at once however, these huge ships are gas-guzzling machines that must obey strict environmental regulations. Both conditions make them expensive to operate, even while theyre fun to look at.

Cruise Ship Norwegian Joy 167725 Gt

Norwegian Joy is a part of the Breakaway Plus class owned by the Norwegian Cruise Liner, a well-renowned company in the industry. Norwegian Joy and her sister Norwegian Escape are both parts of the same cruise line and were launched sometime in 2015. Joy weighs about 167,725 GT and is 333.46 ft long, having the capacity to accommodate almost 3,880 passengers at a time. The cruise was designed by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany catering specially to the needs of the Chinese market. One of the main reasons for this is that Joy has a godfather, a Chinese singer Wang Leehom, rather than a godmother for a patron. Joy will be moved to the new home ports in Tianjin and Shanghai soon.

Theres another cruise named Norwegian Bliss that will be introduced in 2019 and following the footsteps of her elder sisters Joy and Escape. There have been reports that the cruise would be repositioning to Dubai. However, the other ports of this maiden voyage are still not disclosed to the public. Joy is pretty spacious and powerful having 5 main engines to propell it on the sea. The framework features over a thousand staterooms, theatres, spas, pools, bars, nightclubs, gyms, decks and eating places where you can spend your time.

How Big Was The Titanic Vs Modern Ships

In April 1912, the RMS Titanic was not only thelargest passenger ship in the world, but it was the largest ship ever built. The Titanic was 882 feet meters long and had a gross tonnage of46,328 and a maximum passenger capacity of 2,435 people. Comparing the Symphonyof the Seas vs the Titanic, Royal Caribbeans biggest shipcategorically dwarfs the Titanics size in every way, more than doublingits passenger capacity and nearly quintupling its gross tonnage. The Titanicslength, however, is still competitive at about 75 percent of Symphonys.Conducting a Titanic size comparison with ships built in more than acentury of technological advancements since isnt exactly fair, but it helpsprovide a relatable benchmark nonetheless.

List Of Largest Cruise Ships

Symphony of the Seas

Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, they typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports-of-call, where passengers may go on tours known as “shore excursions”. They can carry thousands of passengers in a single trip, and are some of the largest ships in the world by gross tonnage , bigger than many cargo ships. Cruise ships started to exceed ocean liners in size and capacity in the mid-1990s before then, few were more than 50,000 GT. In the decades since, the size of the largest vessels has more than doubled. There have been nine or more new cruise ships added every year since 2001, most of which are 100,000 GT or greater. In the two decades between 1988 and 2009, the largest cruise ships grew a third longer , almost doubled their widths , doubled the total passengers , and tripled in volume . As of June 2020, the largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, has a gross tonnage of 228,081, is 361 metres long, 65.7 metres wide, and holds up to 6,680 passengers.

Harmony of the Seas IS SO HUGE and EMPTY!

The cruise business is among the older parts of the overall travel industry. Huge luxury liners, including the Titanic, were part of a business that goes back to the early years of the 20th century.

Apart from World Wars I and II, the cruise industry is in as bad a shape as it has been since it began. The COVID-19 virus caused large outbreaks on the largest ships. In early 2020, the outbreaks on some ships rose into the hundreds. Cruise companies were at risk for bankruptcy, although the largest were able to raise money to tide them over until customers return. Unfortunately, the current wave of the COVID-19 virus has caused a new set of outbreaks on ships recently.

Before the crippling interruption of COVID-19, cruises were so popular that companies in the industry began to build larger and larger ships so that they could hold thousands of passengers per trip. Some of these are over 1,000 feet long, which makes them longer than aircraft carriers, and some house over 5,000 people.

The mega-cruise ships have been built mostly in the past decade and a half. Most of the largest have been built by Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Cruise Lines.

The largest cruise ship probably will not hold the crown for long. Even larger ones have already started to be built, and one is in trials at sea.
