If you are one of the cruise guests who decided to take a tour to Delos on that day, you will be wondering where do we get dropped off after our tour? If you take a look at the map, you will see it is not back by the ship but at one of the piers on the waterfront of Hora, just steps away from the cafes, shops and restaurants.
For you, it will be important to know where the cruise line shuttle bus drop off/pick up point is too, so you know how to return to the ship.

Cruise Ship Anchors In Mykonos Port
Another thing that can happen is that your cruise ship anchors in front of the Mykonos village. In that case you would get ashore with tender boats.
They would drop you off NOT at Mykonos New Port but at the pier on the waterfront of Mykonos village, only steps away from the restaurants and shopping. The tender ride takes about 5-10 minutes.
Its important to be flexible when it comes to docking or tendering on your Mykonos cruise. Although you might be scheduled to dock/tender, unexpected things can always happen in the port of Mykonos: strong winds, a ship coming in before yours and taking up the berth spot and your ships plans can change in a second.
Time-wise, no option is better than the other really although dropping you off straight in the village might seem like a time saver, you will lose some time waiting to get on the tender boat in the first place.
It will also take some time to get from the port to the village, due to its distance from the village, and waiting for the next available shuttle bus.

Island of the Winds is the perfect nickname for Mykonos, the incredibly spectacular whitewashed Greek Island paradise in the heart of the Cyclades. Chora, Mykonos capital on our Celebrity Cruise ship, beguiled us instantly. Its stacked, blue-roofed whitewashed sugar-cubed houses were picturesque. Colorful wooden doors and staircases lined with potted flowers added their magic. Like its Santorini sister, this island is a photographers dream. Purple bougainvillea climbs over walls and hangs from balconies while oleander and hibiscus fill the air with their fragrant scent. Mykonos is quite simply, unforgettably intoxicating with its simple and timeless beauty. If you are planning a trip, definitely add Mykonos to your Greece itinerary!
We knew wed only have one day the island, so, we decided to hit the deck running and make the best of it. We saw everything on our bucket list thanks to having a good plan.

Accessibility In Mykonos Town
The town of Mykonos has numerous hills leading up for the water. The hills have 4 star and 3 star flatness which means they range from easy uphills to challenging uphills. None of the hills are so steep that they cant be managed with assistance.
Mykonos sidewalk disabled access has 5 star and 4 star smoothness which make it easy for wheelchair users . White shapes on ground do not indicate different stones, they are just painted on. The town of Mykonos is small.only 1 km cross. The best strategy for disabled visitors is to find an accessible path uphill, turn around when you reach steps, and use the same path to get back out.

There is a winding step-free route to reach the restaurants near Little Venice where you can also see the 4 windmills. Just ask shop-keepers which way you should go.
How Early To Arrive For Mykonos Ferry Departures
- Both of the Mykonos ferry ports can get extremely busy, especially from June to August. Its a good idea to plan to arrive at the port an hour before your ferry is due to depart. If you need to collect a paper ticket at the port, do that first thing after arriving at the port ticket kiosks lines are generally pretty long by around 20-30 minutes before loading.

Transportation To/from Mykonos Old Port
Mykonos Old Port is located on the northern end of Mykonos Town, with most Mykonos Town hotels about a 5-15 minute walk away. The best options to get between Mykonos Old Port and other parts of the island are the Sea Bus, local buses, private transfer arranged via your hotel or Welcome Pickups transfer service. Relying on a taxi to or from the Old Port is not recommended.

Both of these ports are located on the islands west coast, in or near Mykonos Town and around 5km from Mykonos International Airport. The Sea Bus regularly transports passengers between the two. Both ports can get very crowded and busy during the summer high season.
*In 2021, the Old Port is under construction and all ferries arriving to and departing from Mykonos will use the New Port. Sea Bus service between the New and Old ports is not affected by construction.

Is There A Bus From Mykonos To Paradise
Local buses to Paradise and Super Paradise depart from the Fabrika bus station on the other side of Mykonos Town, a 20-minute walk from the Old Port. Buses generally run from 9am to 11pm, sometimes earlier or later depending on the route. Some routes are seasonal, with limited schedules from October to May.

Where Do The Cruise Ships Dock
We are calling at Mykonos on a cruise ship in September 2013 – just wondered whether the ship can dock anywhere or will we be moored offshore and tendered in?
Also, any recommendations on things to do/places to visit would be welcomed.
Cruise ships either dock at the New Port in Tourlos, or they anchor offshore near the Old Port right at Mykonos Town and tender passengers ashore.
If your ship docks at Tourlos, your options for getting to Mykonos Town are to take one of the shuttle buses arranged by the cruise ship take a local bus which you can catch on the road outside the port take a taxi or walk .
