Directions To Port Canaveral The Cove And Jetty Park

From Orlando, simply drive east on SR 528, affectionately called the Beachline. Watch carefully for road signs to Port Canaveral, as Florida notoriously lacks in good road signage.

When you finally and excitedly see cruise ships across the water in front of you on your left, stay to the right. Youll soon want to exit from 528 onto A1A South. Merge briefly onto A1A south and stay to your right for the exit. At the stop light, go left under the overpass. Follow George King Blvd and look for overhead signs to The Cove. You can enter the Cove area on either Flounder St. or Glen Cheek Road.

Heading to Jetty Park? Continue on George King Blvd and keep going to the end. Follow the signs for the campground.

Theres plenty of free parking at the Cove. With a 3:30 arrival, parking is easy.

Some of the worlds biggest cruise lines in recent weeks have finally begun announcing concrete plans to restart sailings out of U.S. ports.

MSC Cruises, for instance, on Monday said it would resume departures out of Miami on Aug. 2. The announcement came just hours after Carnival Cruise Line said it would restart cruises out of Galveston, Texas, on July 3. Silversea, Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Holland America also have been revealing restart plans.

Still, even as they gear up for a U.S. restart, cruise lines are saying they only will operate a few ships out of U.S. ports at first. The plan at least for now is to bring additional ships into operation gradually over many months.

So, which cruise ships, specifically, will be restarting operations out of U.S. ports in the coming months and from which specific ports?

Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal

Besides being a large cruise port, Port Canaveral is also among USA’s largest naval and cargo ports. On average, each day 10 cruise vessels enter the port. The following cruise port map shows Port Canaveral port’s infrastructure, the location of terminal facilities, connecting roads and transportation links to Orlando City.

Port Canaveral is the nearest Disney World city, situated about one hour east of Orlando by car. The Orlando International Airport is 45 miles away. The distance to Tampa is two hours and to Jacksonville – two hours and a half.

There are seven cruise terminals. In regular use are 5 – numbers 3, 5, 6, 8 and 10. They are newer, located on the Port’s north side and serve larger ships. Southside terminals are older. Gambling ships use Terminal 2. Terminal 3 is the new Carnival Cruise Line’s terminal. Terminal 4 is also used, but rarely.

Cruise terminal parking rate is USD 15 per day . There is a parking lot beside each cruise terminal. Port Canaveral offers complimentary cruise parking for disabled Veterans. Approved are waiving cruise parking fees for vehicles with DV license plates issued under Florida Statutes “s.320.084”, “s.320.0842” or “s.320.0845”.

Cruises From Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral is just north of Cocoa Beach and east of Merritt Island, and is one of the busiest cruise ports in Florida. It has warm, inviting beaches, rolling surf and year round sunshine. Royal Caribbean Announces Florida Cruise Return Dates First Sailing Out Of Port Canaveral Set For Aug 8

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla.

Royal Caribbean announced a full slate of summer cruises, with many departing from Florida.

The cruise line anticipates Allure of the Seas to sail from Port Canaveral on Aug. 8, with Mariner of the Seas following later in the month on Aug. 23.

In a statement, Royals CEO thanked Gov. Ron DeSantis, as well as the chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority.

He went on to say, 90 % of vacationers booking are either vaccinated or planning to do so soon.

Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal B

The majority of Port Canaverals dining and entertainment is located on the south side of the channel and includes Cruise Terminals 1, 2, and 3. These terminals are easily accessed by following FL-528 E to Cruise Terminal B or George King Blvd.

Royal Caribbean

Cruise Terminal 1 was built with an eye towards the some of the worlds largest cruise ships: Royal Caribbeans Oasis of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas.

Cruise Terminal 3 is currently under construction A brand new $150 million cruise terminal and parking garage will take its place in late 2019 or early 2020.

Note: Ports FY runs from October 1 through September 30 .

In FY2017, the cruise port handled 4,52+ million passengers . The number of multi-day passengers was 7,1% increase over 2016. Statistics showed that just in March 2017, the number of visiting cruiseship tourists was 469,847. This was the Ports 1-month record and a 19% increase over March 2016. Ports FY2017 total revenues were USD 47,4 million .

For FY2018, the seaport reported a record year with USD 103,75 million in total revenues . Cargo and cruise shipping volumes were also an all-time high. The number of handled cruise ship passengers increased by 7,7% to 4,568431 million. Ports handled cargo tonnage increased by 6,9% to 6,404944 million tons. Ports total economic output was USD 3,9 billion with around 32650 jobs supported including 17200 port workers .

For FY2019, the port had ~5% growth in revenues from cruise shipping. By homeporting operations Port Canaveral is currently ranked the worlds 2nd-busiest cruise port with handled in 2019 total 4,634154 million passengers .

For season 2019, the cruise port reported a record berth booking with estimated 4,7+ million passengers.

Msc Cruises Will Sail From Port Canaveral In 2021

MSC Cruises announced this morning that they now plan on resuming cruises starting in August and MSC Divina will sail from Port Canaveral in 2021.

MSC Cruises has extended their pause in operations through the end of July 2020 and has reconfirmed their March-November 2021 program.

MSC Cruises USA guests impacted by the July 11-July 31, 2020 canceled cruises will automatically receive a 125% Future Cruise Credit of the original cruise fare paid by June 19 to be used on a sailing on or before December 31, 2021.

In addition, for all guests currently booked with MSC Cruises USA between August 1 through October 31, 2020, their bookings will now be eligible for Cruise Assurance, due to a new extension of the program, which will allow them to cancel their sailing up to 48 hours prior to departure and reschedule their cruise with a 100% Future Cruise Credit good for any ship and any itinerary on or before December 31, 2021.

Today, the Swiss-based cruise line also reconfirmed its March November 2021 program, which will include two new cruise ships currently under construction and a series of new or enriched itineraries and homeports, including a new home for MSC Divina in Central Florida.

MSC Cruises Spring-Summer-Fall 2021 program, which features all 17 vessels currently part of the cruise lines fleet as well as the two new ships currently still under construction, MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore, will bring the cruise lines fleet to 19 cruise ships.

Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal A

Port Canaveral is divided into two sections by the shipping channel. The north of the channel is home to Cruise Terminals 5, 6, 8, and 10. These terminals are easily accessed after you turn off of 528 to Cruise Terminal or Port Canaveral North Cargo Piers.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival is the cruise line with most ships docked at Port Canaveral and has exclusive use of Cruise Terminals 5 and 6 on the north side. These terminals include sailings by Carnival Magic, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Breeze.

Disney Cruise Line

With the Disney theme parks close by, it comes as no surprise that the Space Coast is home to the Disney Cruise Line. The mouses ships dock at Cruise Terminal 8 and include the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wonder.

Norwegian Cruise Line

The Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Sun sail out of Cruise Terminal 10. The Norwegian Breakaway will sail out of Port Canaveral starting Nov. 23, 2019.

What Time Do Ships Sail Away From Port Canaveral

Your best bet is to check the websites for Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Disney to find out the sail away times. But do it a week before you plan to go to Port Canaveral. If you wait until the day of the cruise to check the departure times, they will have been removed from the cruise lines websites.

Generally speaking, the cruise ships leave from Port Canaveral beginning about 4pm. If youre heading out to Jetty Park, its about a 15-20 minute walk from the parking lot to the end of the pier.

Royal Caribbean Finalized A Port Agreement With Port Canaveral So It Can Start Test Cruises

One of the major requirements before test cruises can begin looks to be a step closer for Royal Caribbean.

One of the mandates included in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plan for cruise ships to be able to restart sailings from the United States is for each line to secure agreements with port and health authorities in the U.S. cities they plan to visit.

This requirement is part of the CDCs Framework for Conditional Sailing Order , and is intended to ensure health and safety protections for crew and passengers and port personnel prior to resuming passenger operations in a way that mitigates the risk of spreading Covid-19.

Royal Caribbean Group Vice President of Worldwide Operations, Captain Hernan Zini, spoke on Wednesday about Royal Caribbean Groups work to get its ships closer to be able to conduct test and revenue cruises.

Captain Zini said that port agreement was submitted to the Florida Department of Health.

Once that once Florida signs off on the plan, it can be submitted to the CDC. And once the CDC accepts the agreement, the Royal Caribbean group can make an application to the CDC to begin those test cruises.

The agreement will also include information social distancing guidelines and plans for using commercial operators for any required evacuations at sea.

Royal Caribbean said they are hoping to vaccinate about 1,500 crew members.
