Our Main Dining Room experience for dinner was Tianas Place. Tianas Place is a New Orleans style restaurant themed after the Princess and the Frog and even includes live entertainment!

Here are some of the items we ordered from Tianas Place. Everything we had was delicious, especially the Beignets!

  • Sautéed Gulf Shrimp and Grits
  • Roasted Creole Half Chicken
  • Mama Odies White Chocolate Bread Pudding
  • Lemon Raspberry Mousse Bombe

During dinner at Tianas there is a parade through the restaurant. Its fun to watch, or join in if you want!

Below is the official statement from Disney:

Night San Diego Disney Wonder Cruise

Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

There is only one 3 night sailing scheduled so far for 2022. The Disney Wonder will sail on 10/9/22 on a 3-night itinerary from San Diego.

Sails on 4/13/22 and 4/17/22.

Later in the year, the Disney Wonder will sail the 4-night itinerary of 9/28/22

The port of Cabo San Lucas is simply beautiful. The famous arches dominate the view you will have when the Disney Wonder is anchored just a short distance away from the shore.

Again, you use tender boats, but these are really efficient and it doesnt take much time to get from the ship to the hustle and bustle of Cabo San Lucas.

There are many excursions you can choose from in Cabo, or you can simply explore on your own. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants within easy reach. Or take a boat to the very beautiful Lovers Beach.

Dinner At Animators Palate

Our last main dining experience was back where we started at Animators Palate. Here are some items that we ordered from the menu: Sliced Serrano Ham, Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes, Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup, Chicken and Walnut Salad, Pennete Bolognese, Ginger- Teriyaki dusted Angus Beef Tenderloin, Cookies n Cream Sundae, and Lemon Icebox Pie.

The experience on Day 5 was a little bit different as there were drawings and a show during dinner. We even had a visit from Mickey Mouse himself!

This Lemon Icebox Pie was one of my favorite desserts on our Disney Wonder Cruise. I loved it so much, I came home and recreated the recipe for my family. If you would like to make this pie at home, here is the recipe.

Before we get started, please make sure to subscribe if you are Disney Fan like me so you can also check out my other Disney Cruise videos. Now back to the Disney Wonder.

We stayed in San Diego the night before our cruise at our favorite hotel, the Best Western Island Palms on Shelter Island. I always recommend arriving in your port city the day before your cruise. I find it too risky to travel the day of embarkation.

We arrived at the port at about 11:00 am and dropped off our luggage. We were then directed to go across the street to the Wyndham hotel for our pre-cruise test.

We waited in the ballroom for about 25 minutes for our results. After being cleared, we headed back to the cruise terminal.

Going through customs took about 20 minutes, then we were ready to board the ship! Be prepared to give your name as you get on the ship so the crew members can announce your arrival.

After boarding, we headed to our assigned spot on Deck 4 to complete the mandatory safety drill.

Disney Wonder Health Protocols

Guests who boarded Disney Wonder today, and those that will do so in the near future, will need to abide by strict health and safety measures, many of which are now a cruise industry standard. For the Baja Mexico cruise onboard Wonder, all guests age 12 and above must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and should take a COVID-19 test upon embarkation.

Guests 11 years old and under are not required to be vaccinated but must take a pre-trip NAAT test, rapid PCR test, or lab-based PCR test for COVID-19, as well as a rapid COVID-19 test upon embarkation.

On November 5, the 83,308 gross ton, 1754-passenger Disney Wonder will sail on a 14-night cruise through the Panama Canal for this cruise, all guests, regardless of age, must be fully vaccinated to be allowed onboard.

Port Of Ensenada Mexico

Disney cruise ship arrives in San Diego a day early

From the port to the town of Ensenada was about a 20 minute walk. We had some great views of the Disney Wonder from the port so we stopped to take a few pictures. My 12-year-old chose to stay on the ship and go to the kids club while we went exploring. We bought a couple of snacks, my son bought a hat, and we found a cute little purse for our friend Scout, back at home.

Disney Wonder Ship Overview

The Disney Wonder is what is known as one of the Classic Disney ships. She was the second ship to be built and is the sister ship to the Disney Magic.

The classic ships are the smallest in the Disney Cruise Ship fleet. They have a capacity for up to 2,713 passengers who are looked after by 950 crew members.

If you want to start with a great overview of the Disney Wonder experience this Virtual Tour is a great place to start.

The Disney Wonder has 877 staterooms. For help in choosing your stateroom go to Disney Cruise Ship Staterooms.

The Disney Wonder has 3 main dining restaurants. To see menus and reviews of these go to Disney Wonder Restaurants.

You can also get a great idea of what all the food is like on the Disney Cruises by reading this article which has a lot of pictures and menus for you to see.

There is plenty to appeal to all ages on a Disney Cruise. Many people think it is just for kids, but it really isnt. Disney Cruise Lines designed their ships so that there is something for everyone to do.

This could be the perfect cruise for you if you are looking for a Cruise for Adults. This takes you on a tour of all the Disney Wonder Bars.

Night San Diego Baja Cruise

Sailing on 3/18/22. This 2-night cruise is the Shortest Disney Cruise available.

Is a 2 night Disney Cruise worth it? We would say that any Disney Cruise is worth it! However, really do think about whether or not a 2-night cruise is the right one for you.

It can be a great idea if you have never sailed before and want to get a taste of what it is like.

However, you do need to be aware that you do not spend very much time on the ship and that the cost per night tends to be very high. You will board on Friday lunchtime, usually around noon at the very earliest.

You will spend one complete day on the ship, where you will be docked in Ensenada .

You will barely have time to unpack as on Sunday morning you will be leaving the ship as you Disembark.

Family Silent Dance Party

We were supposed to see Frozen on night 5, but the show was cancelled so we took the boys and went to the Family Dance Party! Like I mentioned in my last video, Silent Dance parties are fun because you wear headphones that play music and everyone dances, but cant hear each others music. Its pretty entertaining.

Lunch At Cabanas Buffet

Disney Cruise Ship Dock In San Diego

After the drill, we were ready for lunch, so we headed up to Deck 9 to check out the buffet at Cabanas.

Other options for lunch include the main dining rooms, which for us was Tianas Place, or there are quick service areas like Pinocchios Pizza or Daisys Delights where you can grab a sandwich or salad also on Deck 9.

And dont forget about my boys favorite cruise perk, unlimited ice cream cones!

The Disney Wonder returns to San Diego in early 2022 for more sailings to Baja Mexico. Here is the Ultimate Disney Cruise San Diego 2022 Guide.

The Disney Cruise San Diego 2022 sailings are a little different from previous years. Whilst right now only the early 2022 Disney Cruise itineraries are available, there are some changes for the San Diego cruises.

One of our favorite itineraries, the 7 night Mexica Riviera cruises are only offered once in 2022.

Gradually over the years, the number of 7-night sailings from San Diego has reduced.

It used to be that the majority of the sailings were 7 nights, but for now, we only have a single one-week-long sailing.

For those of us who prefer the 7 night San Diego sailings, you could of course combine back-to-back sailing to give you more nights.

This gives you a longer time on the Disney Wonder but isnt ideal as the per night price tends to be higher if you book shorter cruises.

Another new feature for the Disney Cruise San Diego 2022 is a port stop in Catalina. This tiny Californian island is located just off the coast of Los Angeles and is well worth a visit.

Here we will talk about the Disney cruises sailing from San Diego in 2022 as well as giving you some background about the fabulous Disney Wonder.

Disney Port Of San Diego Tips

San Diego is a beautiful port and the Cruise Terminal is right in the heart of the downtown area of the city. If you can, make sure to spend some time before or after your cruise in this wonderful city.

The San Diego Cruise port address is B Street Pier 1140 N Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101. It is very conveniently located just across the street from the Amtrak Train Station.

The San Diego port is only about 3 miles away from the International Airport. Too far to walk, but it is an easy car ride to the port. It will take less than 10 minutes unless the traffic is particularly bad!

We think that if you are arriving at the San Diego airport and just want to get to the port, a ride-sharing service is a great idea.

An Uber will only cost around $10 to $12. Lyft will be slightly less at around $8. The most expensive option from the Airport to the Port will be a taxi which will cost in the region of $20.

There is public transport from the airport to the cruise port. This costs $2.25 per person each way.

The bus you need is the 992 which runs from the airport to downtown via the cruise port. Obviously, this is the most economical way, but really a ride-sharing service isnt too much more if there are 3 or more guests in your party.

According to the Port, when a ship like the Disney Wonder home ports in San Diego meaning it starts and ends along the Embarcadero it has the potential to bring about $2 million into the local economy. And when a cruise stops into San Diego even for the day, like the Grand Princess, the passengers coming off that ship can bring about $600,000 to the local economy.

They get off the ship and they do everything we love them to do, said Julie Coker, president and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority. They eat in our restaurants, they shop at our local retailers, they support all of the small businesses here in San Diego.

But then it also gives them an opportunity to see San Diego on that one day stop and, oftentimes, they will then book future trips to come back to San Diego and spend more time here, Coker added.

According to the Port, San Diego is Californias third busiest port, just behind Long Beach and Los Angeles. Its also the gateway to the Mexican Riviera, plus the path for major cruising destinations like Hawaii, the Panama Canal, and the Pacific Coast. Since the start of the pandemic, the Port if San Diego said 173 local passenger cruises have been canceled.

Over the past year and a half, cruise liners have sometimes docked at the Port of San Diego, but not for actual cruises. Holland Americas Koningsdam, for instance, has docked to refuel and restock supplies.

Touring The Disney Wonder

Disney Cruise San Diego To Mexico Day 1! | Embarkation Day, Room Tour & Parties!!

After returning to the ship, we stopped for lunch at Cabanas. I didnt notice until after I ate, that Cabanas was serving Fajitas that day, so if you make this stop on your cruise, dont miss out on the Fajitas!

My oldest went to the Vibe to hang out with his new friends, and my 7 year old wanted to go back to the kids club to play. My 12-year-old stayed with my husband and I while we went to explore more of the Wonder.
