Got Kids Don’t Miss The Free Slides

It is easy to gravitate towards Thrill Waterpark, but Royal Caribbean provides two water splash areas for kids that costs absolutely nothing extra.

Captain Jill’s Galleon and Splashaway Bay are located immediately at the entrance to the island from the pier.

If you have younger kids , you may find these areas a great fit for kids, with seating around both areas for adults to supervise.

Both of the splash zones include small slides, water cannons, geysers and more.

Children up to 42 and 200lbs are able to use these areas.

Given there is no cost to go here, and many of the slides in the waterpark have height requirements, families with younger children may prefer Splashaway Bay and Captain Jill’s Galleon.

Top Activities At Cococay

Thrill Waterpark notwithstanding, it should be noted that most of the activities at CocoCay are complimentary. Cruise line passengers who dont want to test their mettle on the wacky slides can still enjoy the island without spending an extra dime. There are, however, a couple of intriguing extra-charge attractions they might want to consider.

If the summit of Daredevils Tower doesnât get you high enough, you could soar some 450 feet above CocoCay aboard Up, Up, and Away, a tethered helium balloon. The 10-minute experience offers commanding views of the island, the docked cruise ship, and the Bahamian waters. The ride is gentle and should be accessible and enjoyable for nearly everyone, except those who have a crippling fear of heights or vertigo. Fees, which vary seasonally, are approximately $39 for adults and $24 for children 4 to 12.

Guests can also get a birds-eye view of CocoCay by giving its zip line a whirl. The 1,600-foot course traverses the water park and the islands harbor. Prices are about $79.

Other upcharge excursion activities at CocoCay include wave jet tours on Sea-Doo personal boats as either a driver or passenger, parasailing, reef snorkeling, kayaking, a glass-bottom boat tour, and an opportunity to hop into the water with swimming pigs.

Royal Caribbean Set To Expand Perfect Day At Cococay

Cruise Line & Cruise ShipRoyal Caribbean InternationalPatrick Clarke November 02, 2021

Royal Caribbean International is poised to expand its private island experience in the Bahamas in the coming year.

In a third-quarter 2021 update on the cruise line’s earnings, CEO Michael Bayley was clear that Perfect Day at CocoCay is “leading the charge” when it comes to consumer demand for sailings from the East Coast and also confirmed that the company is “reengaging” on plans to expand and bolster its destination projects nearly 20 months into the COVID-19 pandemic.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is expected to add a new adults-only area called Hideaway Beach in the months to come, a move that will allow Royal Caribbean to host more guests during the day-long excursion.

“It will allow us to increase our capacity by approximately 3,000 people a day in late 2022, which is obviously going to help improve our overall profitability and drive more revenue, both ticket and onboard,” said Bayley, who hinted at other projects in 2022.

“We have other projects that we’ve now started to reengage with. So I think our aspirations never really moved away. We just had to press pause for a while.”

Hideaway Beach is anticipated to open in late 2022.

No Rash Guards On Slides

Something you should know about is the lifeguards are pretty strict about not wearing rash guards while going down the water slides in Thrill Waterpark.

You can certainly take off the rash guard and hold it as you go down, and then put it back on, but in my experience I had to do this every time I went down a slide without a raft in the water park.

Why? Because rash guards cause drag on the slide, and can slow you down to the point you could actually stop.

Located near South Beach, Royal Caribbean operates a floating bar in the ocean.

It is less of a swim-up bar, and more of a wade-up bar, but once you get to it, you climb a short ladder to get onboard the tiki bar and enjoy drinks in the ocean.

The floating bar has a limited selection of drinks, and no blender, so plan on beers or basic mixed drinks.

No Masks Required For Perfect Day At Cococay Cruise Ship Visits

Its no fun wearing a mask at the beach, so it was good news when Royal Caribbean SVP Sales Vicki Freed announced today that masks will not be required during the two-day stop at private destination Perfect Day at CocoCay during seven-night Adventure of the Seas sailings from Nassau this summer.

The first sailing departs a month from now, on June 12. As well as the two-day stop at CocoCay, the ship will also call at Grand Bahama Island and Cozumel. Onshore health protocols at those destinations are still being determined.

Passengers and crew members over the age of 18 will need to be fully vaccinated, while those under 18 will have to provide a negative PCR test to sail.

In more good news for this early return to cruising, the Bahamas government recently announced that fully-vaccinated visitors to the Bahamas will no longer have to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival, so adult passengers will have one less task to perform before relaxing on their vacation. Proof of vaccination and that two weeks have passed since the final dose will be all that is medically required to enter the country.

Shore excursions in the visited ports will only be allowed if booked through the cruise line. As with visits to CocoCay, this precaution is designed to create a protective bubble and minimize the risk of infections being brought on board.

Book A Thrill Waterpark Cabana If Your Family Is Going To The Waterpark

Royal Caribbean Seeker Spotlight: Mark Harrison | Perfect Day at CocoCay

Whether or not you should book a CocoCay cabana for the day is a tough decision usually, unless you are going to the waterpark.

If you have at least 3 or 4 people that want to buy admission to Thrill Waterpark, you should take a hard look at the Thrill Waterpark cabanas.

Not only does a Thrill Waterpark cabana offer a relaxing and private spot for your family to enjoy, but it includes admission to the waterpark for up to 6 guests into the waterpark.

If you have 4-6 guests, then the decision becomes a near slam dunk to get the cabana, in my opinion, because the extra cost of the cabana will be substantially less since you were going to pay for the waterpark passes.

Go To Thrill Waterpark

You have to pay an admission fee. Full-day prices are $45 to $99 depending on the season, and half-day option is available . Its worth it if you love waterslides and wave pools. You see the Daredevils Tower looming over the park as you enter, and this is the highlight for thrill seekers.

The structure features seven waterslides , and the highest and fastest slide requires a very long walk up the staircase to the top.

Daredevils Peak is 135 feet high and the tallest waterslide in North America. The park has a variety of slides that send riders out on tubes or mats, on tandem rides or virtual free falls screaming in delight all the way.

A massive wave pool churns refreshing water while pumping out tunes as people splash around and cool off. The waterpark area also offers an Adventure Pool with an overwater obstacle course, plenty of loungers with umbrellas and a nearby Snack Shack and bar cart for food and drinks.
