List Of Largest Cruise Ships
Cruise ships are large passenger ships used mainly for vacationing. Unlike ocean liners, which are used for transport, they typically embark on round-trip voyages to various ports-of-call, where passengers may go on tours known as “shore excursions”. They can carry thousands of passengers in a single trip, and are some of the largest ships in the world by gross tonnage , bigger than many cargo ships. Cruise ships started to exceed ocean liners in size and capacity in the mid-1990s before then, few were more than 50,000 GT. In the decades since, the size of the largest vessels has more than doubled. There have been nine or more new cruise ships added every year since 2001, most of which are 100,000 GT or greater. In the two decades between 1988 and 2009, the largest cruise ships grew a third longer , almost doubled their widths , doubled the total passengers , and tripled in volume . As of June 2020, the largest cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas, has a gross tonnage of 228,081, is 361 metres long, 65.7 metres wide, and holds up to 6,680 passengers.

The Wonder Of The Seas Features 18 Decks And 8 Neighborhoods On Board
Weve always prided ourselves on offering guests the best and most innovative ships to give them a truly extraordinary experience. Wonder encompasses all of that, said Tamis.
The Wonder of the Seas was initially meant to make its premiere in 2021 but was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The entire cruise industry has been racked with delays and suspensions since the beginning of the pandemic. The CDC has only recently loosened its guidance on cruise ships, having lowered the risk level of cruise trips from Level 4 to Level 3 this past January.
Cruise ships have frequently been sites of super spreader events throughout the pandemic. In December 2021, The CDC tracked a Covid-19 outbreak across 89 different cruise ships.
Cruise lines like Carnival Corporation reinstated guidelines on their ships such as mandatory masking and proof of vaccination, but the highly transmissible Omicron variant bypassed these precautions.
Our health and safety protocols put in place have proven to be effective time and time again over the past year with our sailing s being restarted across each of our brands, said Roger Frizzell, a spokesperson for Carnival, in an email to TIME magazine.
Carnival runs 32 of the 86 cruise ships currently being investigated by the CDC. 25 are operated by Royal Caribbean Cruises, 15 by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, and 4 by the Walt Disney Corporations Disney Cruise Line.

Cruise Ship Size Increase Over Time
The trend is clear. The largest cruise ships in the world today measure roughly 8x the size of vessels 40 years ago! Cruise lines proudly boast their biggest and newest ships. Each is guaranteed headlines when breaking the previous record for “biggest ship.”
Look at the chart below. We’ve analyzed nearly 300 ships over the past 50 years. The graph represents average ship size for the included periods.
It’s interesting to look at the average ship length versus tonnage. While new vessels today are nearly 5x the gross tonnage as decades ago, ship length has increased roughly 2x. What does that mean? Ships are getting significantly “beefier.” These massive gains are found in both height and width. Some of the largest ships in the world have 20 total decks and span 167 feet from side to side .

Who Are The Private Companies To Develop Future Space Stations
NASA has already chosen three private US-based companies to develop future space platforms.
One of them will be run by Blue Origin. The company disclosed plans last October for its Orbital Reef station. The developers say Orbital Reef will carry ten people in an area of about 830 cubic meters -almost the same size as the ISS. The station will assist science researchers, space agencies, technology companies, and countries without space programs.
Another developer will be Nanoracks space services company. The company will be working with Voyager Space and Lockheed Martin to develop the first-ever free-flying commercial space station. They aim for the space laboratory Starlab to be operational by 2027.
The third company, Northrop Grumman, plans to operate a free-flying space station. The defense contractor said the station plans to help science, tourism, and industrial experimentation activities.
What Captured The Trace Of The Storm
While floating past Jupiter, the Cassini spacecraft caught this view of the active view of Io Jupiters third-largest satellite. As a backdrop, its largest gas giant offers a fantastic demonstration of the ruling planets relative size. The Cassini spacecraft was approximately 10 million kilometers from Jupiter when capturing the image data.

Clarifications Of The Jupiter Pepperoni Storm
The clip that NASA has shared on National Pizza Day has a lot of meanings, as claimed by the space agency. The brightness of the temperature indicates the radiance, traveling upward from the top atmosphere towards Juno.
The international space union clarified why the latest captured Jupiter storm looks like pepperoni. NASA said that the disruption brings an uneven area temperature on the planets surface. However, many netizens joked around the fact of how the shape of it resembles that of a pepperoni pizza.
How Will The Iss Retire
In its report to Congress, NASA also detailed its plans of retiring the ISS. When it is ready to discontinue service, the space agency said it would start lowering the operational altitude of the ISS. Then, it would try to perform a controlled de-orbit of the floating lab with the help of additional space vehicles.
The plan is to focus the space station toward the South Pacific Ocean at Point Nemo. This is an area of open water between New Zealand and the southernmost part of South America. The U.S. National Ocean Service classifies Point Nemo as the stretch in the ocean farthest from land.
The area has been used several times by space agencies looking to safely de-orbit old spacecraft to avoid disasters in space or on the ground. Most parts of the ISS are likely to burn up as they pass through Earths atmosphere. However, some pieces might reach Earth. Thats why NASA says it would send the ISS to Point Nemo on its final resting place.
