Fort Lauderdale, Florida is one of Americas premier cruise ports. Conveniently, the cruise ship terminal is only three miles from Fort Lauderdale Airport. There are some shuttle options, but the best way to reach the terminal from the airport is to take an Uber or taxi. The cost is around $10-15 and most of the shuttles are similar or more in price, but on a fixed schedule. For example, the Carnival shuttle is $16. Parking at the cruise port is about $15 per day and many lots require an advanced reservation, so make sure to research before your departure.
The port of Fort Lauderdale services some of the biggest cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity Cruises, and Holland America. Its a popular departure point for many themed cruises on these lines, whether Biker themed, Star Trek themed, or an LGBTQI+ cruise, for instance. It’s worth noting that Fort Lauderdale is an incredibly gay-friendly city.

Pan American Pier & Cruise Terminals
The Pan American Pier has two modern two-tiered passenger terminals and is located on Isla Grande, besides the Isla Grande Airport and near the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Two mega-ships can dock at the Pan American Pier terminals. Depending on your cruise line and cruise ship traffic, your ship may arrive and dock here for the day and will most likely embark from here if San Juan is the home departure port. The only thing within reasonable walking distance is the Isla Grande Airport, Puerto Rico Convention Center, Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, and the Hyatt House Hotel. You will have to take a taxi or book a tour in order to visit the historic Old San Juan or New San Juan. It is a 10-15 minute ride into Old San Juan and will cost you $10 if your cruise line does not pay for it. The most convenient hotels to stay at near the Pan American Pier terminals are the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino and Hyatt House Hotel.
San Francisco California Us Cruise Port
Few people would think of San Francisco as a cruise port city. And rightfully so, as many more visitors arrive by air, road, train or other means. The big commercial port of the area is across the bay in Oakland.
However, when considering the United States cruise ports map, ships sailing the western coastline of North America dock at one of the cruise terminals along Embarcadero street every summer. One could spend the day just on the piers visiting the Fishermans Wharf area for all sorts of entertainment: sailing the bay, visiting Alcatraz Island, dining etc.

You can also take a taxi for $14 to the largest shopping mall in the Caribbean, Plaza Las Americas, located in nearby Hato Rey, San Juan. Where To Stay Before Or After A Seattle Cruise
The Four Seasons is close to Pike Place Market and right beside a staircase down to the waterfront.
If youre coming into the SeaTac airport late and not expecting to do much sightseeing around Seattle, staying at one of the hotels near the airport is a good option, as it will be less expensive than staying downtown. The best hotel near SeaTac airport is Cedarbrook Lodge they have an incredible spa and award-winning farm-to-table restaurant. Other good options are the SeaTac Crowne Plaza and Hilton both offer cruise packages with complimentary shuttle service to the cruise terminals.
Staying in downtown Seattle will give you the best opportunity to see the city, and offers easy access to Seattles best attractions. Hotel rates are at their highest during cruise season, however, so dont expect to find many cheap options. Some hotels offer cruise packages that include transport to the terminal, but these are generally not big money-savers, as taxi or Uber fare to the pier is fairly inexpensive and Shuttle Express offers scheduled transport from many downtown hotels to the cruise terminals at a rate of just $12 per person.
If youre sailing on a Norwegian or Oceana cruise that departs from the Bell Street Terminal , The Edgewater and are both within a short walk of the pier.
What Pier Will My Cruise Ship Dock At Or Embark From In San Juan
In general, arriving transit ships that are day-docking for one afternoon/ evening in San Juan usually dock at the Old San Juan Piers , so you can walk right out into Old San Juan and avoid taking a taxi. We believe an exception to this rule to be Celebrity Cruises which typically day-dock at the Pan American Pier. Cruises that start in San Juan usually leave from the Pan American Pier Terminals I or II. However, Carnival cruises embark from the Old San Juan Pier 4 terminal if San Juan is the home departure port. Again, be sure to contact your cruise line or call the San Juan Cruise Port at 787-723-2260 to verify the arrival or departure pier location.

Los Angeles Area Cruise Ports On Amtrak
Long Beach and San Pedro Cruise Ports
Just because you live hundreds or even thousands of miles from the cruise ports in Los Angeles, doesnt mean spending hours in the sky to get there.
Amtrak operates four almost-transcontinental trains from the east coast, Midwest and southern states as well as an overnight train from Washington state.
Your overland coast-to-coast journey begins in New York City or Washington DC. Both cities have three overnight trains to Chicago. The next day, westbound from Chicago, there are two trains going directly to Los Angeles the Texas Eagle via San Antonio in almost three days and the Southwest Chief, a much shorter trip of around 43 hours. The scenery is amazing on both trains.

You can take the California Zephyr from Chicago to Los Angeles but its not a direct train. You have to change in Sacramento and then continue on to L.A.
My suggestion? Take the train with the most breathtaking scenery, the California Zephyr, to Sacramento, stay over a couple of nights to have time to visit the incredible California State Railway Museum. You can then catch the historic Coast Starlight at 6:30am and arrive in Los Angeles at 9pm. There are two hotels in a 10-minute walking distance to the train station.
Arrival into the splendidly restored Los Angeles Union Station is an experience in itself. Taxis are available just outside the station.
United States Cruise Port At Oahu
Cruise ships in Oahu, Hawaii dock close to the Aloha Tower Marketplace, which is conveniently located about a 10-20 minute drive from Honolulu International Airport. It’s very easy to book a tour from the Oahu, Hawai cruise porti too.
The most popular cruise line sailing the Hawaiian Islands is Norwegian Cruise Line. They are docked at Port of Honolulu Pier 2 and easy to access. You can get a taxi/Uber/Lyft from the airport and is about $30 USD each way.
For parking, the public parking is about ¾s of a mile away and the cost is about $21 a day. It may be easier to just take a taxi from the airport so you dont have to pay for a rental car and to park it for the duration of your stay.
Norwegians Cruise Ship in Hawaii used to do 7 day sailings around the island but has now included French Polynesia in some of their itineraries. It is like getting two vacations in one and you get to stay on the same boat.
Most cruises originate in and out of Oahu, so you will want to plan to stay an extra day or two as to not miss anything. Some things you should have on your Oahu bucket list include: a visit to the North Shore, Pearl Harbor, Waikiki Beach, piping hot malasada from Leonards Bakery, shave ice, and some snorkeling.
