On sailings that include July 4th, there is usually a special celebration with characters dressed in red, white and blue outfits. There has not been a special fireworks show in the past, but sometimes on sailings in the Caribbean or Bahamas they move pirate night to July 4th so they will have fireworks on Independence Day.

Halloween on the High Seas
During this period there will be special Halloween events onboard, including Halloween-themed parties, storytellings, movies and elaborate décor, including The Pumpkin Tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise. You will also find characters dressed in Halloween costumes, as well as a costume party for families and, just for adults, a costume contest and a Villainous Takeover on the dance floor in the nighttime entertainment district.
In the past there has not been any special menu for Halloween night itself, over and above what they do on all the Halloween themed cruises during the whole period, but there will be some special Halloween-themed treats.

Health Protocols For April 2022 Cruises
With Royal Caribbean ships sailing from many places other than the United States in April 2022, the exact protocols will vary somewhat, but the core requirements seem to be universal.
All Royal Caribbean guests age 12 and older must present proof of full COVID-19 vaccination with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days before sailing.
With the exception of the transatlantic crossings that do not allow anyone unvaccinated onboard, Royal Caribbean does not require kids younger than 12 to be vaccinated.
All crew members on every ship will be fully vaccinated.
Masks are optional for vaccinated passengers onboard its ships indoors.
Unvaccinated children are expected to wear masks indoors and in crowded settings. All children, regardless of vaccination status, will need to wear a mask in Adventure Ocean. Guests under 2 do not have to wear a mask at any time.
Covid testing requirements are nearly all the same, with the exception of transatlantic crossings.
Vaccinated guests must show a negative COVID-19 test result for a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 2 days before boarding day.
Unvaccinated kids age 2 to 11 must show a negative test result for a PCR test taken no more than 3 days before boarding day. This test cannot be taken on boarding day for unvaccinated kids.
Guests under 2 years of age do not need to complete a pre-cruise test.

Passenger Overboard Mardi Gras
And finally, we are very sad to report that a man went overboard the cruise ship in the early hours of Saturday. The flagship, operated by Carnival Cruise Line was sailing back towards its homeport of Port Canaveral in Florida when the overboard occurred.
The cruise line did confirm to Cruise Hive that the male guest had jumped. The ship was coming to the end of a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. The ship has already arrived back home and is now at Terminal 3 at Port Canaveral. Our thoughts go out to the mans family and friends during this very difficult time.
Disney Vacation Club Cruises
The Disney Vacation Club member cruises for 2022 will be the 3-night Bahamian cruise on June 14 on the Disney Wish, and the 7-night Alaskan cruise on August 29 on the Disney Wonder. Both cruises are sold out, but a waitlist is available.
DVC member cruises are only open to Disney Vacation Club members who have purchased at least some of their vacation points directly from Disney . Members can use their vacation points to book the cruise or can pay cash rates. Typically DVC cruises are significantly more expensive than similar cruises for the general public, but guests will be given a wide variety of DVC special gifts and will get to experience some exclusive member events including talks by special guests including artists, imagineers and/or actors from classic Disney movies.
Whether the DVC member cruise is worth booking is a personal judgment call. The extra events are difficult or impossible to experience any other way. The various DVC gifts are usually a mix of the usual kinds of tote bags, pens, and so forth you can get by attending a DVC meeting or buying a new DVC contract, plus at least a few special and unique items. Some people love the DVC member cruises and try to go on each one. Others go once and feel its not worth the extra money.

Fort Lauderdale Cruise Guide
The city of Fort Lauderdale is home to one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, with millions of passengers starting their cruise journeys here. From this port, you can book a trip with Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruise Lines, Cunard Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, or Royal Caribbean International, to name a few. Sailings from this port almost exclusively visit tropical destinations like the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal. However, Fort Lauderdale, which is situated in Floridas southeastern coast, is known for its warm climate, beaches, art and a culture of its own. This is the departure port where youll find a lot of affordable Caribbean cruise getaways and more, and its a great way to get a head start on your tropical vacation.
Fort Lauderdale is nicknamed the Venice of America, due to the vast number of waterways, with endless beaches, poolside resorts, and upscale restaurants. Walk along State Road A1A and youll find bars, souvenir shops and patios, where you can drink ice-cold cocktails and eat Floribbean dishes like Paella and tropical Barbacoa that blend local cuisine with Latin-inspired flare.
Explore the Florida Everglades wildlife preserve on an airboat ride, where youll see a diverse ecosystem of plants and animals, including alligators and crocodiles. If youre looking for unique shopping opportunities, the Las Olas Boulevard is a strip of hip boutiques and restaurants that extends along Fort Lauderdales city center.
Pride Of America Resumes In Hawaii
Pride of America officially welcomed passengers back aboard on Saturday, April 9, with its first departure for a 7-night inter-island sailing, exploring multiple ports of call and featuring two days at sea. The ship is offering weekly sailings from Honolulu, departing every Saturday through December 2025.
During these first sailings as the vessel resumes, the ship will have limited capacity and fewer dining options due to fewer crew members on board.
There is no timeline available for when full service may resume, but it will likely depend on how and when local restrictions may be eased further. The 80,439-gross ton Pride of America has a guest capacity of 2,186 at double occupancy, with 927 crew members.
Pride of Americas return marks the fifteenth Norwegian Cruise Line ship to return to service following the pandemic-related, industry-wide global shutdown. Norwegian Jade was the first of the lines vessels to restart when she set sail from Athens, Greece, in July 2021.

Three more Royal Caribbean cruise ships return to service in April.
Radiance of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas will start back up with a repositioning cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver so that they can be ready for the start of the Alaska cruise season in May.
At the end of April, only one Royal Caribbean cruise ship will remain out of service since the pandemic, which is Rhapsody of the Seas.

Disney Cruise Line announces their cruise dates and itineraries for only a few months at a time: January through April, then May through September and finally, September through December. Once the new itineraries come out, booking begins just a day or two later, first to Castaway Club members and then to the general public.
The people who book earliest almost always get the lowest possible price. Sometimes there will be last-minute deals via the restricted guarantee fares or Florida Resident fares, but only a small percentage of cruises ever have those fares, and those fares arent always cheaper than opening day fares. In addition, early bookers get first dibs on staterooms, making it the best way to land one of the hardest-to-get staterooms like the Secret Porthole and Secret Verandah rooms. Lots of people know about these advantages, so on the days the new itineraries become available for booking, both the phone lines and website get slammed.

Carnival Cruise Line Changes Testing Fee
On April 12, Carnival Cruise Line made a minor change to its protocols, impacting only a small number of guests. However, the change is vital for those guests to know and related to testing fees for the younger unvaccinated guests.
The testing fee for unvaccinated children aged 5-11 has been lowered to $60. Previously, the charge for guests aged 5 and above was $150. Any fees will be charged to the guests Sail & Sign account.
For unvaccinated guests aged 12 and older, the fee will continue to be $150 per person. When it comes to those aged 2-4, complimentary testing will now be provided. Previously, for guests aged 2-4, the fee would cost $60.
Those guests who applied for a vaccination exemption or are traveling with a child aged 11 or under were also sent a letter detailing the changes. The letter also includes important requirements for testing and shore excursions on sailings through December 31, 2022.
Carnival Cruise Line is still following guidelines in accordance with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . This means that unvaccinated guests aged two and above will have to take a pre-cruise PCR test, along with an antigen test at the terminal during embarkation.
There will also be the need for an antigen test 24 hours before debarkations on cruises longer than four days.
It is always important to make sure to keep checking the cruise lines Have Fun. Be Safe. protocols, especially if you have an upcoming cruise.

Celebrity Solstice Season Canceled
Because of ongoing regional uncertainties and potential travel restrictions, Celebrity Cruises has decided to cancel the 2022-23 Asia deployment for Celebrity Solstice, including all sailings from September 16, 2022, through April 21, 2023.
During the period in question, Celebrity Solstice was to have been sailing to a variety of destinations throughout Asia, including Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, and The Philippines. A total of 18 cruises have been canceled, ranging from 10-16 nights.
This is in line with other cruise lines recent cancelations, including Royal Caribbean International moving Voyager of the Seas from the Asia-Pacific region to North America and Europe, areas that have been faster to resume passenger cruise operations with fewer restrictions.
Guests whose cruises are now canceled have two options. Celebrity Cruises is offering a Lift and Shift alternative to rebook on a similar Asia sailing aboard Celebrity Solstice or Celebrity Millennium for the 2023-2024 season.
Instead of sailing in Asia, Celebrity Solstice will instead be repositioned to the Mexican Riviera. In doing so, the Solstice-class cruise ship will replace the slightly smaller Millennium-class Celebrity Millennium, taking over that ships 7- and 8-night itineraries through December 11, 2022.
With this replacement, Celebrity Millennium will reposition to the Caribbean for the popular winter season in that region, bringing more cruise options to guests eager for a warm weather getaway.
