Meet All The Characters Or None At All
I think one possibly common concern about Disney Cruise Line is, will it just be filled to the max with Disney things everywhere?! Yes and no. After all, the colors of the ships even match Mickey Mouse himself, and theres no doubt that youre on board a Disney vessel. That being said, we found it all extremely tasteful and dare we say more subtle than the theme parks. All of the character meet and greets are communicated on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app, so if youd like to plan your day around meeting Stitch or Captain Hook, you can! If your kids are indifferent or have met characters before, theres absolutely no pressure to do so. We also really enjoyed the fact that the characters are seamlessly integrated to other activities. For example, our entire family loved the Sail Away Party as we cruised out of San Diego, and the kids could watch Mickey and Minnie dance for a few minutes. On another evening, we loved the surprise visit from Louis during dinner at Tianas Place. The point is this: if you want to meet characters, you can 100% do that on board Disney Wonder . If its not important to your family, youll still get a healthy dose of Disney without it being in your face all day, every day.
Disney Vacation Club Cruises
The Disney Vacation Club member cruises for 2022 will be the 3-night Bahamian cruise on June 14 on the Disney Wish, and the 7-night Alaskan cruise on August 29 on the Disney Wonder. Both cruises are sold out, but a waitlist is available.
DVC member cruises are only open to Disney Vacation Club members who have purchased at least some of their vacation points directly from Disney . Members can use their vacation points to book the cruise or can pay cash rates. Typically DVC cruises are significantly more expensive than similar cruises for the general public, but guests will be given a wide variety of DVC special gifts and will get to experience some exclusive member events including talks by special guests including artists, imagineers and/or actors from classic Disney movies.
Whether the DVC member cruise is worth booking is a personal judgment call. The extra events are difficult or impossible to experience any other way. The various DVC gifts are usually a mix of the usual kinds of tote bags, pens, and so forth you can get by attending a DVC meeting or buying a new DVC contract, plus at least a few special and unique items. Some people love the DVC member cruises and try to go on each one. Others go once and feel its not worth the extra money.
Disney Cruise Line Resumes Sailings From New Orleans
Disney Cruise Line is officially back in New Orleans. The lines ship Disney Wonder set sail from the Port of New Orleans for the first time in nearly two years on Wednesday, February 2.

In 2019, Disney Cruise Line announced that Disney Wonder was scheduled for a limited-time return to New Orleans in 2021. That plan was pushed back to this year due to continued COVID-19-related cancellations across the cruise industry.
A Ship on the Go
Wonder is now on a six-night western Caribbean voyage. The vessel will also operate four-night cruises from New Orleans.
Disney Wonder is scheduled to remain in New Orleans for a short time through February before repositioning to San Diego to operate Baja Mexico cruises through the end of April.

From that point, she will head north to Vancouver, British Columbia to operate seven-night Alaska cruises through mid-September before returning to San Diego for the winter and into spring.
Disney Wonder originally resumed sailings on October 1, 2021 from San Diego, operating three-night cruises to Ensenada, Mexico, as well as four-night voyages to Cabo San Lucas.
On embarkation day, all guests regardless of their age or vaccination status are required to take a test at the terminal prior to boarding the ship. The line also offers post-cruise testing for guests requiring it to travel home. The guests is responsible for testing costs.

Theres As Much To Do Indoors As Outdoors On Disney Cruise Line
For whatever reason, I have always equated cruises with endless sunshine, pools and beaches. While we absolutely adored our time at the pool areas, we were pleasantly surprised that we were equally happy inside. During the days at sea especially, the pools have a tendency to get crowded, particularly between 10:00am and 2:00pm. In order to snag poolside chairs, we found we had to arrive pretty early in the morning and take advantage before the entire ship was awake. By mid-day we often felt the pools and water areas were too crowded for our family, so we generally opted to grab lunch on deck from Cabanas and then head inside.
Pro tips :: if you are able to attend trivia or grab a drink at the Crown & Fin Pub, do it! We stumbled across 80s Trivia one evening before dinner while the kids were at the Oceaneer Club and we genuinely had a ball. On another afternoon we enjoyed a quaint table right next to a gorgeous port hole in the Promenade Lounge. If a princess up-do is in the cards for your kids, we recommend making late afternoon reservations in advance. We brought princess outfits from home and enjoyed a quiet few minutes in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique before dinner one evening so that the girls didnt ruin their hair swimming and could enjoy it at dinner that night.
Disney Cruises From New Orleans Returning In 2022
Disney Cruise Line has started sailing again, and has made some changes to its itineraries and process along the way.

The Disney Wonder has lately been sailing out of San Diego, CA, and it plans to add trips from Galveston, TX, starting November 19th of this year. The Galveston cruises will include 4- and 6-night trips to the Western Caribbean.

But thats not the only update for this ship. Disney has now announced that the Wonder will resume sailing from New Orleans, LA, starting.

The New Orleans cruises will also be 4- and 6-night sailings to the Western Caribbean, stopping in Cozumel Mexico on the 4-night trips and both Cozumel, Mexico, and George Town, Grand Cayman, on the 6-night trips.

However, one sailing will have a modified itinerary. The 6-night sailing on February 18, 2022, will now visit Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico instead of Key West, Florida and Disney Castaway Cay. Disney Cruise Line is offering a $400 non-refundable onboard credit as a thank you to guests sailing on the modified sailing.

Disney Cruise Line will require all guests age 5 and up to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 beginning Jan. 13.
Guests who are too young to be eligible for a vaccine must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, Disney said on its website Wednesday.
The test, which should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test, or lab-based PCR test, must be taken between three days and 24 hours before their sail date.
Children ages 5 to 11 can still board a ship before Jan. 13 with proof of a negative test.

Cruises From New Orleans Aboard The Disney Wonder

Once the new itineraries come out, booking begins just a day or two later, first to Castaway Club members and then to the general public.
