The list of changes after the ship’s 2-weeks-long drydock in 2014 includes:

Which Carnival Ships Were Scrapped
Heres a list of Carnival ships that were scrapped recently:
- Carnival Sensation retired in February 2022. The ship never restarted operations after the global pause in 2020.
- Carnival Fascination left the Carnival fleet in September 2020. After initial plans to be turned into a floating hotel fell through, the ship was scrapped in Pakistan.
- Carnival Imagination was sold in September 2020 after a long lay-up. The ship then headed to Turkey to be scrapped.
- Carnival Inspiration was sold for recycling in July 2020 along with the Carnival Fantasy.
- Carnival Fantasy was the first ship to leave the fleet in July 2020 as a result of the shutdown. The ship was scrapped in Turkey.
The next ship to leave the Carnival fleet will be Carnival Ecstasy in October 2022. Its as yet unknown whether the 31-year-old ship will be scrapped or go on to sail again.

Carnival Cruise Line has cut the length of one of its cruises from 14 days to 10 in the of face rising new cases of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus.
The story was first broken by Cruise Industry News.
Carnival was forced to notify passengers on the Legend that its expected two-week cruise from Baltimore through the Caribbean including through the Panama Canal would be cut to 10 days.
The Canal was one of the places dropped because of the decision, replaced by three extra ports of call.
“The voyage will now operate as a 10-day cruise returning to Baltimore 4 days earlier, on Wednesday, January 19, 2022,” according to a letter sent by Carnival to passengers seen by Cruise Industry News.
“Unfortunately, this also means we will not be able to operate the Panama Canal itinerary you were expecting. We are truly sorry for this unexpected change of plans and trust you understand we are making this decision given our commitment to the safety of our guests, crew, and the communities we visit.”
Many cruise lines have canceled or delayed sailings because of the proliferation of the new strain of COVID-19.
In this instance, Cruise Industry News said guests on the Legend will receive a $300 stateroom credit, have four days worth of fare removed from their bill and receive a future cruise credit.

Carnival Legend Dress Code
Daytime: Carnival has a pretty laid-back dress policy with jeans, shorts, T-shirts and bathing suits common throughout the ship.
Evening: Most evenings are Cruise Casual, where passengers can wear anything from smart jeans and dress shorts to trousers and casual skirts or sundresses. One or two nights per cruise will be designated Cruise Elegant. Men are requested to wear dress trousers and dress shirts, with jackets optional. If men want to wear suits or tuxedos, then they are free to do so. Suggested attire for women is cocktail dresses or gowns, or dressy trouser suits or skirts. Many people do like to dress to the nines on these Cruise Elegant occasions and pose for photos while other passengers watch these proceedings in the Atrium Bar. With that said, we’ve seen plenty of folks show up to dinner on these nights in their usual casual attire. A two- to five-night cruise will have one Cruise Elegant night. Cruises of six nights or longer will have two.
Not permitted: As long as you’re not wearing swimwear and workout clothes, and men don’t wear sleeveless T-shirts or tank tops, you won’t be turned away from the dining room.

As mentioned above, Carnivals 25 ships can be broken down into eight distinct groups or classes. A key detail about Carnival ships is that there are a lot of similarities from class to class within the Carnival fleet.
Unlike Royal Caribbean and some other cruise lines, Carnival doesnt always drastically change the design of its ships from class to class.

At Carnival, as at other lines, the biggest ships in the fleet have the most amenities, eateries, lounges, bars and deck-top attractions than the smaller ships. This can be a huge plus for travelers who like to have a lot of options when vacationing. However, Carnivals biggest ships also sail with more passengers, which can be a turnoff if youre the kind of traveler who likes a more intimate experience.

The oldest Carnival ship in service is the Carnival Ecstasy which was launched in 1991 and is set to retire in October 2022. This Fantasy-class ship is also one of the smallest ships in the Carnival fleet, accommodating just 2,606 guests across 10 decks.
Carnival Ecstasy was last refurbished in 2019 with upgrades to the retail shops, a new video arcade, and the addition of a Bonsai Sushi Express eatery.

The Carnival Legend was built in 2002. It’s considered a small size ship. Coming in at 963 ft long and 106 ft wide, it’s roughly the length of 2.7 football fields, as wide as 2 tractor trailers, and the same height as a 12-story building.
The Carnival Legend can hold 2,124 based on double occupancy and more when you take into account 3rd and 4th passengers. When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, the Legend has a space ratio of 42. Depending on the ship, this number can range from 30 to 52 so this ship’s space-to-person ratio is about average.
