Where Do Norwegian Cruises Go

Don't Miss

The Laps Take About 30 Seconds

Norwegian Cruise Line

As youd expect on a racetrack on a ship, the course isnt that long. It only takes about 30 seconds to make a lap. That said, the layout is well-designed. In a compact space the track packs a lot in, including a ton of corners, twists and turns. Its also a double-decker track, with a hill climb right at the start and a downhill section at the end to bring you back to the start/finish line.

Ncl Cruise Ship Lifeguards

In April 2017, NCL Norwegian Cruise Line announced the company will employ certified lifeguards on some of its vessels and fleetwide . The news made NCL, the 3rd major cruise company with lifeguards onboard its ships – following Disney and Royal Caribbean.

  • The onboard lifeguards are stationed only at the family pools during scheduled swimming pool hours. This staff will be “American Red Cross” trained and certified.
  • NCL will also offer complimentary swim vests for both adults and kids. Parents can obtain safety vests at the Lido Deck’s towel station during daytime hours.
  • The first NCL ships with lifeguards will be Norwegian Epic , Norwegian Escape , Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway .
  • NCL started testing monitoring through CCTV cameras at family pools since 2015. So adding full-time lifeguards was a decision for more safety on pool decks. However, it should be known that lifeguards don’t replace parental supervision and that parents remain the best form for preventing onboard accidents.
  • Disney Cruise Line employs certified lifeguards since 2013. RCI Royal Caribbean employs cruise ship lifeguards since February 2017 . RCI’s onboard lifeguards are dressed in special uniforms and stationed at every onboard swimming pool, including the Solarium during the complex’ opening hours.

Norwegian Fjords Tip #8

Book a balcony cabin!

  • This one might sound strange coming from me because Im usually such an advocate for inside cabins but book a balcony cabin if you can. I am usually a massive fan of inside cabins but I do believe youd miss out if you had an inside cabin for a Norwegian Fjords cruise. There are amazing views almost all the time and it would be a shame to miss even a second! If you do book an inside cabin make sure you dont spend too much time in your room. Inside cabins can be a great place to wash and sleep but arent really the best place to spend your days.If you fancy finding out a little more about inside cabins check out this post: Are inside cabins claustrophobic?

Shore Excursions On Norwegian Alaska Cruises

While the journey is just as fun as the destination onboard a Norwegian Cruise to Alaska, the excitement surely doesn’t stop when you disembark in port. Norwegian has created more than 145 shore excursions in its six Alaskan ports of call, so you can dive right into adventure without thinking twice about the logistics. View wildlife in its natural setting, drink hot chocolate aboard a small catamaran, or learn more about Alaska’s interesting and unique culture while interacting with locals.

Some of the shore excursions Norwegian Cruise Line offers in Alaska include:

  • Historic Gold Mine & Pan for Gold – Juneau, Alaska
  • White Pass Scenic Railway – Skagway, Alaska
  • Bear Sanctuary, Eagle Rescue & Native Trails – Sitka, Alaska
  • Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s Tour – Ketchikan, Alaska
  • Whale Watching and Wildlife Quest – Juneau, Alaska

Norwegian understands that sometimes a week just isn’t enough. They’ve created a number of Alaska cruisetours led by local Alaskan guides for travelers who want more time in port before or after a cruise. Spend a few extra nights in Fairbanks, take a train to Denali Park, and stop to look at the Trans-Alaska oil pipeline. Or, travel the Alaska Railroad from Denali to Talkeetna, where you’ll get one of the best vantage points of Mt. McKinley, and tour the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Alaska cruisetours extend your vacation and afford the opportunity to make even more memories in one of the country’s most beautiful regions.

Carnival Cruise Line Releases Greenland Voyage

Carnival Cruise Line Ambassador John Heald already teased it on Wednesday, but then on Thursday, the cruise line released a one-time 14-day voyage that will include calls to Canada and Greenland. Carnival Legend will be the lucky ship to be offering the epic cruise out of Baltimore, Maryland. However, there is just one chance to go on this cruise!

The Spirit-class vessel will depart on September 2, 2023, from Baltimore on a 14-day voyage. The ship will first sail five sea days in a row before arriving at Nanortalik in Greenland on September 8. Carnival Legend will then make a call at Qaqortoq, also in Greenland, on the following day. Both calls to the country are located on the southern coast.

The cruise ship will sail another full day at sea before arriving at St. Anthony in Newfoundland on September 11, 2023. The following day, there will be a call at Corner Brook, also in Newfoundland. The final port of call will take place on September 13 in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Following the last two sea days, the Carnival Legend will arrive in Baltimore on September 16, 2023.

The voyage is part of Carnival Journeys, special sailings that are offered by the cruise line. Guests will be able to experience the cultural aspect of the ports the ship will visit. The cruise is even more special as Carnivals Brand Ambassador will be onboard, offering guests the chance to meet and mingle during the one-of-a-kind voyage.

The Carts Are Electric With Gas Engine Sounds

With cruise ships trying to more green you might be wondering about fuel for the go-karts. They are actually electric and dont emit exhaust as they zoom around the track. To help add to the ambiance, there are engine noises emitted by the cars to make them sounds like they are real race cars. Its a little funny at first but really does make it feel like you are going faster.

If You Must Cruise Here’s How To Be Safer

It could be a while before it’s truly safe to board a cruise. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading expert on infectious diseases, recently said that he thinks the country will have control over Covid and regain a sense of normalcy by spring 2022. But even then, travel and cruises will likely be high-risk activities.

“We look forward to a future when more people are vaccinated and the numbers are lower, perhaps we’re over the delta variant,” Ostrosky says. “That’ll be a much safer time to travel.”

If your heart is set on going on a cruise before then, you should get vaccinated when you’re eligible, Malani says. Then, look for cruises that require vaccination proof and only allow reduced capacity the lower, the better. While on the cruise, pick activities and excursions that are lower-risk, she says, like always dining outdoors. And of course, board the ship with the understanding that no matter what happens, you’re taking a risk.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gives cruise ships a color-coded safety status green, yellow, orange and red based on reports of cases of Covid or Covid-like illness. The agency also indicates when there are investigations into outbreaks on ships. You can check the CDC’s website for a ship’s Covid status before planning or boarding a cruise.

Overview Of Norwegian Cruise Line

Founded in the 1960s, NCL is the smallest of the big three cruise lines. However, in recent years it has made a big push with a lineup of huge new ships. In total, the line has six new ships in the past seven years.

Like competitors Carnival and Royal Caribbean, Norwegian is what we call a mass market cruise line. This means it offers mega ships designed to appeal to all types of passengers. Youll find options for everyone from families with kids to couples on romantic holidays, young, old, and in between.

Not the sort of person who likes huge ships? It is also making an effort to offer more exclusive service and a smaller ship atmosphere with The Haven on many vessels.

The Haven is a luxurious, high-end resort within a resort experience with dedicated space and amenities like a pool, restaurant, and bar that are only open to The Haven guests.

While the cruise line sails globally, North America and the United States is its largest market. You can find all types of sailings from the U.S., ranging from quick trips to the Bahamas , to Alaskan cruises to Hawaiian cruises.

In short, no matter what you look for in a cruise, Norwegian likely has something for you.

The Power Is Controlled By The Staff

You might be hoping you get a face car when you race. The speed of the cars is actually dependent on the staff. In fact, when you first start on the track youll be disappointed with the speed out of the gates and climbing the hill. Its not until all the cars are on the track that the power is turned up and you can really start to drive quickly. As well, if there are any incidents on the track or when its time to pit at the end of the race, your speed will be cut.

Can You Go On A Cruise With An Expired Passport

No. An expired passport is not a valid travel document.

However, your passport may officially expire earlier than you think. Infrequent travelers, take note: Many countries require that your passport be valid for six months after the date you arrive in that country. If your cruise takes place in August, you will be traveling for just a week or two, and your passport expires in October of the same year, you might think its acceptable documentation. It isnt.

Norwegian Gem Becomes First Fully Vaccinated Ship To Sail From Florida

Norwegian Cruise Lines continued its restart on August 15 with a notable first with Norwegian Gem, the line became the first cruise ship to sail from Florida with fully vaccinated passengers and crew, Cruise Critic reports.

It was a moment that was legally won. In July, the line’s parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, sued the state of Florida, which currently bans businesses from requiring people to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status. The cruise company has been adamant that it wants 100 percent of the people onboard vaccinated, as opposed to adopting voyages that allow a mix of vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers, through October 31, 2021.

On August 8, a judge with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida ruled in favor of a preliminary injunction on the law, which allowed the cruise line to go ahead with its policy. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has said that he will appeal the ruling.

The move also continues NCL’s restart globally. The line’s first ship back was Norwegian Jade in Greece on July 25, followed by Norwegian Encore, which sailed from Seattle to Alaska on August 7. It marks the first time the line has also used its new NCL Terminal in PortMiami, which can accommodate ships carrying up to 5,000 passengers.

How Much Does A Norwegian Cruise Cost

    Norwegian Escape

While Norwegian cruises are less expensive compared to other cruises like the Disney cruise, youd be spending as little as $179 or as much as $2,820. The price will still depend on how long your trip will be and the kind of accommodations you choose upon booking. Studio staterooms will also be far cheaper than the more exclusive suites like The Haven.

Norwegian Joy, for example, allows you to enjoy a 5-night cruise to the Pacific for as low as $223 if you book interior accommodations. A suite is a little more expensive at $384. The price can still change, given that some activities onboard require a fee, and some specialty restaurants require separate payments.

As a rule of thumb, Caribbean cruises, no matter the cruise line running them, are much cheaper to book between September to early January. The months April and May are also times when youre likely to strike a deal and chop off a bit from your cruise cost.

If you want to save, just enjoy the free activities included in your booking and avoid a lot of cruise shopping, which can be quite expensive.

    Rides Last About 10 Minutes

The rides go by pretty quick. If youre waiting in line, thats a good thing. If youre racing, you want it to last forever. Wed estimate that a turn takes about 10 minutes long. For $15, thats not very long, but it is still a fun time. To be honest, racing any longer than that and the minimum wait would be unbearable.

Norwegian Cruise Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge effective for all voyages departing in 2009. Sail On The Newer Ships When Possible

Over the last few years Norwegian has made big headlines by introducing some of the most extravagant ships at sea. Ships like the Norwegian Joy, Bliss, and Encore take cruising to another level with the public areas, restaurants, and things to do on the ship. For instance, you can even ride go-karts or dabble in virtual reality.

While older ships are typically cheaper to sail, weve found them smaller and with fewer things to do on board. Unless you only want to sit by the pool and relax, newer ships offer so much more to passengers.

So if you have the means, we recommend sailing on the newer ships.

Dining & Drinks On Norwegian Alaska Cruises

On a Norwegian Cruise to Alaska, your fare includes complimentary dining in the ships’ two main dining rooms, a delicious and varied buffet, and a number of cafes, grills, and quick-service restaurants. Eat inside or outside, with a group of new friends or in the comfort of your own suite. With nearly 20 options available on each ship, you’re not tied down to a certain time or place.

Enjoy a classic American meal at O’Sheehan’s, or a savory noodle dish at Chin Asian Restaurant. In the main dining rooms, you can expect a rotating menu, fresh ingredients, and hearty dishes. The Sky High Bar & Grill serves hot dogs, hamburgers, and bratwurst, while the garden cafe has all the soups, salads, and pasta you could ask for.

There are also a number of specialty dining options aboard Norwegian ships dine at just one, or purchase a Specialty Dining Package to sample them all throughout your cruise. Though they differ by ship, specialty restaurants include the Moderno Churrascaria Brazilian steakhouse Le Bistro Fresh Restaurant and La Cucina, serving dishes inspired by the Tuscan countryside.
