    Trailering With Adaptive Cruise Control

If equipped, Adaptive Cruise Control may be used when towing an attached trailer that is electrically connected and within GM-approved allowable size and weight limits.

When you turn on Adaptive Cruise Control while trailering and change the gap settings, an icon will appear in your Driver Information Center next to your gap setting display that indicates you have trailering functionality for Adaptive Cruise Control equipped.

When towing a trailer, Adaptive Cruise Control driving characteristics, such as following gap, acceleration rates and braking rates may be modified to provide a better towing experience.

When towing a trailer with Adaptive Cruise Control, it is important to properly set the Trailer Gain. Check your Owners Manual for more information on setting Trailer Gain.

It is recommended you select Tow/Haul mode when driving down steep hills or mountain grades, or when hauling heavy loads.

If you turn on Adaptive Cruise Control and do not see the trailering icon in the DIC when you try to change your gap settings, your vehicle is not properly equipped to use Adaptive Cruise Control while trailering. If this is the case, do not use Adaptive Cruise Control while trailering.

Adaptive Cruise Control should not be used while towing a trailer with an aftermarket trailer brake controller. Aftermarket trailer brake controllers may not function properly with the Adaptive Cruise Control system.

Fancy Adaptive Cruise Control That Can Automatically Maintain A Safe Distance Behind The Car In Front Check Out These Affordable Options

    Audi Q7 Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control is an evolution of the standard form of cruise control, which holds your car at a set speed, but is only really practical on clear multi-lane motorways and dual carriageways. This is because basic cruise control systems take no account of the traffic around them.

Adaptive cruise control, meanwhile, gets around this by using radar or lidar or even cameras to assess the traffic ahead. As a result, it can automatically slow you down or speed you back up to your desired cruising speed, depending upon whether theres traffic ahead – be it another car thats moving more slowly, or one thats just moved into your lane.

Most systems allow you to both adjust the speed and the minimum distance the car will maintain behind the vehicle in front. More modern adaptive cruise control systems can make use of traffic sign recognition capabilities that a car might have to automatically adjust the speed to stay within the limit. As with normal cruise control, you can always override the adaptive cruise control by using the accelerator or brake pedals.

Adaptive cruise control also forms a central part of a cars autonomous driving aids – where these are fitted – and many of these systems can keep you centred in your lane and steer the car around corners. Some can even change lanes automatically for you when you indicate.

What Does Adaptive Cruise Control Do

Adaptive cruise control uses advanced sensory technology to determine your car’s speed in proximity to other vehicles or objects on or around the roadway. It applies moderate brakes and warning signals when a driver is getting to close to another car. Drivers can set the speed limit on the ACC so that they don’t exceed the speed limit, but when the sensory technology detects traffic or other unsafe conditions, it reduces the driver’s speed to adapt to them.

How Does Steering And Lane Guidance Assist Provide Support

Congestion, slow-moving traffic, and long, monotonous journeys are sadly not uncommon, especially on the highway. When this happens, you have to keep a steady hand and patiently follow the road, sometimes for long periods of time. In these situations, a steering and lane guidance assistant can help you keep your vehicle in the lane at high speeds as well and make the task of steering easier. Cameras detect the lane markings, thus guiding the driver assistance system to the boundaries of the lane you are driving in. A look beyond the borders of Europe shows just how much more advanced this technology has already become. In some countries, the BMW Driving Assistant allows drivers to cruise hands-off at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

Benefits: Lane guidance assistants can relieve the driver from steering, offer a feeling of safety and, above all, make long motorway journeys more comfortable.

Offers Added Convenience On Long Trips

Benefit from driving assistance with Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. When activated on a journey, this technology system guides your vehicle along the road by automatically managing the distance from vehicles ahead and your vehicles speed. It also detects vehicles at standstill, for example at the tail end of congestion.

The Stop & Go feature automatically brakes the vehicle, even to standstill, and accelerates to the specified speed once traffic gets moving again. If a vehicle ahead of you brakes unexpectedly or the system detects a pedestrian or cyclist at risk, it offers support in bringing your BMW to a stop.

The hardware required for this feature comes ready-installed in your vehicle when it leaves the factory. This gives you even more flexibility when it comes to configuring your vehicle after it has left the production line.

The feature provides assistance within defined system limits. It remains the responsibility of the driver to react to the actual traffic situation. May only be available with additional optional equipment. Availability of BMW ConnectedDrive Services are dependent on vehicle specification, optional equipment and production date. Please consult your local BMW Retailer for more information if required.

You can find a detailed description of this feature in your vehicles operating instructions.
