Viking Neptune itinerary program was announced by VIKING OCEAN in late-December 2020. The new ship is currently scheduled to start operations with a Viking World Cruise 2022-2023. The 138-day itinerary visits ports in 28 countries with overnights in 11 port cities.
Departing on December 22, 2022, from Port Everglades , Viking World Voyage 2022 visits ports in Central America, follows Panama Canal transit and sailing up North America’s West Coast. A 121-day segment allows travellers to join the cruise ship in Los Angeles CA, from where the itinerary continues to Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East, Europe ending in London-Greenwich, England UK.

Cruise passengers boarding the Viking Polaris in Duluth in the autumn of 2023 will embark on an epic 71-day, eight-country, three-continent voyage that includes stops in Canada, New York City and Mexico, a transit of the Panama Canal and a week in Antarctica, before disembarking in Argentina.
Viking Cruises’ expedition ship Octantis has already begun plying the Great Lakes this spring, with Duluth as one port of call. Its new sister ship Polaris will sail from Duluth to Toronto and back on Great Lakes grand tours next summer.
But now the Swiss-based cruise line has quietly started selling tickets for a blockbuster new itinerary that starts in Duluth on Sept. 12, 2023. The “Longitudinal World Cruise II” will explore the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway, the U.S. East Coast and the Caribbean, Chilean fjords and glaciers and parts of Antarctica before terminating on Nov. 21 in Ushuaia, Argentina, some 7,000 miles south of Duluth.
That makes it a roughly north-south voyage between the world’s farthest-inland seaport and the southernmost city in the world .
Pricing for this novel itinerary starts at an equally eye-opening $49,995. A current promotion on Viking’s website offers unspecified savings and free international airfare through June 30..

Passenger Shipping Pause 2020
Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Viking Cruises suspended passenger shipping operations fleetwide by canceling all voyages with pre-scheduled departures in the period March 12, 2020, through July 2021. Fleetwide operations were planned to resume on October 1, 2020. However, due to ongoing travel restrictions in Europe and the USA, as well as Canada’s and Australia’s ban on cruise shipping, Viking canceled the entire 2020 program in mid-August.

In mid-July 2020, Viking Ocean announced the company’s “Viking World Cruise 2021-2022” planned for MS Viking Star. The 136-day itinerary visits 56 ports in 27 countries, with 11 port city overnights and 3x new for Viking cruise ports .
The voyage starts from Port Everglades on December 24, 2021, and ends in London City England. Signature destinations include Central America, Panama Canal transit, USA West Coast, Hawaii, Transpacific crossing to New Zealand and Australia, Asia, Middle East, Suez Canal transit to Europe and the UK.
Shorter itinerary segments are also available for booking, including the 119-day “Viking World Horizons 2022” that visits 49 ports in 22 countries.

Viking Mississippi River Cruises
The company plans to add cruise ships on Mississippi River . However, the process is slowed due to issues regarding the so-called “Jones Act” . It imposes restrictions on where USA-based ships can navigate and how to be staffed.

Viking Mississippi Sails From Minnesota Launching Viking’s Us Cruises

Viking launched its new Mississippi cruise operation, its first in the United States, on Saturday, September 3, after seven years of planning. The new river cruise ship Viking Mississippi embarked its first passengers at Lamberts Landing in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota for an 8-day cruise south on the Mississippi to St. Louis, Missouri.
It marked the latest expansion for the company best known for its European river cruises. Viking also recently launched its new river cruise ship operating on the Nile in Egypt and expanded its ocean cruises with its first exploration cruise ship that is currently operating cruises on the Great Lakes.
The entry into service of the 450-foot long river cruise ship however had been delayed several times and had to overcome opposition to the company based in Switzerland operating an American flag vessel. Opponents had repeatedly cited the planned operation as a violation of the Jones Act. U.S.-based partner Edison Chouest Offshore built the new vessel and it is owned by an American LLC corporation chartered to Viking for eight years. The U.S. Maritime Administration has repeatedly ruled that the charter arrangement meets U.S. regulations.

ALTON, Ill. â A brass band welcomed nearly 400 tourists who were boarding the Viking Mississippi during the new cruise shipâs first port of call in Alton.
